Bold Nature Matters Scholarship
Being outside allows me to feel free; it refreshes my soul. I try to spend as much time as I can outside. It feels as though the fresh air brings me new life. One of my favorite activities is to go on hikes because I live in such a beautiful place, West Virginia. I love nature because I am able to get rid of all of my distractions in daily life and just see the beauty of the world around me.
Nature really brings people together. I love to go on walks with my friends and family because we are able to put away our phones and just talk together and enjoy nature. My family and I went on at least one hike every week during quarantine. I believe doing that kept us in great spirits during quarantine. It did not feel quite as much like we were in lockdown when we were outside enjoying nature.
Nature is so beautiful, and I hate when people ruin its beauty by littering. I try to appreciate nature by picking up litter when I see it, and I throw it away. It is important that we pick up trash in order to save the earth’s beauty.
Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
Some of the most beautiful moments in life come from the small moments. Truly enjoying the small moments in life is something that I do. I love seeing the sun rise and set. Something about it just fills me with joy. The beauty of the earth is truly amazing. Being outside is a simple pleasure in life that makes me happy. I try to go on hikes as often as I can. To be active, feel the fresh air, and enjoy the beautiful scenery makes for a lovely day.
My family and I went on a lot of hikes and simple adventures while we were in quarantine in 2020. I love being with my family, and often we would take our dog with us. Seeing everyone happy being outside, even my dog, made me happy.
When my friends and I are together, we do not have to do anything extravagant to have fun. More often than not, I enjoy it more when we just drive around or stay at home and talk. I love learning about people and simply sitting down and talking to someone brings me joy.
The beach really encapsulated finding happiness in the simplest of ways. I love to be at the beach and get away from my phone. I love to go out onto the sand early in the morning by myself. I listen to the ocean waves and sometimes read a book.
I love having simple moments with people. Those moments are when I get to bond the most with people, and I really enjoy that. I love being outside with my family. I also enjoy being alone. I enjoy feeling and seeing the world around me by myself. That is where I find the most peace in the simple pleasures of life.
Bold Be You Scholarship
By staying true to yourself, you are able to be truly happy. You can tell that you are being yourself because you have a sense of pure freedom. In my life, I have chosen a unique path. I do a sport that is not very well-known, and it is not school-associated. Doing CrossFit has made me very unique, especially at school. I am very different than everyone else, both physically and mentally. CrossFit has led to a completely different development of my body. I have developed a lot of muscles, and don’t look like other girls, especially at my age. Despite being different, I love CrossFit. I think that by me being so confident in it, I have gotten a lot of respect from my fellow classmates and others. I have stayed true to myself and my passion for CrossFit despite not having really my age that does it with me.
In my daily life, something that I live by is truly doing what makes me happy. If I don’t want to do something, I simply do not do it. If I do want to do something, I do it. Being truly yourself means embracing whatever you want to do and following that passionately. I definitely do that with the friends that I choose. I have friends that I can be completely myself around, and I enjoy every second with them.
Bold Community Activist Scholarship
Fitness is a major part of my life and it is something that I am very passionate about. I started to get into CrossFit when I was in the 8th grade. I progressed quickly and made it to the biggest stage in CrossFit during the summer of 2019. I placed 7th at the 2019 CrossFit Games. That was really celebrated around my small town because I was in the newspaper and the news many times. I made it back to the CrossFit Games for the 2021 season. I placed 9th worldwide in the 16-17 girls division.
I did not except my accomplishments to get to publicity and reaction that they did in my small town of Crab Orchard, West Virginia. So many people that I did not know well or did not know at all would stop me in public to congratulate me. People tell me that I have inspired them to work out and get in shape. West Virginia is known for having an obese population so by me working out, I have inspired others to do the same.
In conclusion, I have made a positive change in my community by inspiring people to positively change their life by getting in shape. People often tell me that I motivate them and that brings me joy. It lets me know that I am doing something right.
Bold Legacy Scholarship
Leaving a legacy behind that I am proud of when I am no longer on this earth is something that motivates me. I want my legacy to be that of a kind person who worked their absolute hardest. I want to be known for giving someone joy. Motivating others to be joyful and achieve their goals is what I hope that others remember me for.
I want my legacy to be known as someone who worked hard for their goals and achieved them. I compete in CrossFit and I achieved competing at the highest level possible for CrossFit, the CrossFit Games. I ended up placing 9th worldwide in the 16-17 year old girls division. I think that people really admire me for that accomplishment because they have witnessed the work and the sacrifices that I have made in order to accomplish that goal. Leaving that legacy is important to me because working hard is part of my character, and I respect people who put the work in to achieve their dreams. I hope that people respect that part of me.
A valuable character trait to have is kindness, and I hope that I can leave a legacy behind where people can say that I was a kind human being. I try to make people feel good about themselves. I stand up for people who feel alone or are made to feel less than others. I feel empathy for these people, and I try to bring joy to their lives.
Finally, I want my legacy to be that of a hard-working person who is kind to others and inspires them to be their best. I try to make others smile because that fulfills me. Leaving a legacy that I am proud of is very important to me.
