Bio

I'm a freshman at Eastern Kentucky University and the proud daughter of an Army veteran. I love reading, baking, art, history, science, cooking, and traveling. My Christian faith is central to who I am and has helped me battle extreme mental health issues time and time again. Music has ALWAYS been a passion of mine! Artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Gracie Abrams, and many more have been comfort artists I look to whenever I'm feeling down (forever grateful for them!). I'm ready to explore the world, and the various cultures it has to offer, and pursue my passions!

Jennifer and Rob Tower Memorial Scholarship
In the heart of Bardstown, Kentucky, I found my purpose in serving others, inspired by the legacy of my veteran father. Growing up in a household steeped in military values, I learned the importance of sacrifice and resilience. But it was through my involvement in local children's church programs that I discovered the profound impact of community and compassion. Guiding young minds, nurturing their spirits, and fostering a sense of belonging became not just a duty but a privilege—a way to honor the values passed down through generations. Beyond the church, my commitment to service extended to the broader community. Organizing clothing and food drives for the homeless and volunteering at blood drives became outlets for me to put compassion into action. Each endeavor was not only an opportunity to help those in need but also a chance to honor the sacrifices made by service members and their families. As I immersed myself in these volunteer activities, I began to recognize the crucial role that healthcare plays in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations. Witnessing the impact of health disparities firsthand, I became increasingly drawn to the field of healthcare. Volunteering at blood drives, in particular, fueled my desire to pursue a career where I could make a tangible difference in people's lives. The experience of interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds and providing them with essential resources further solidified my resolve to pursue a career in the health field. From preparing warm meals for the homeless to donating blood to save lives, I now know the capacity of healthcare to change life and create hope. It is through these small gestures that the service brought me to the realization of how such minimal actions can greatly change others, especially in times of need. With the help of my dreams to make a difference in the world and my father's military values instilled a strong commitment in me to give something back to the community. His experiences taught me about resilience, adaptability, and the lasting power of acts of service. I had the personal experience of observing how he made a change in people's lives with his helping attitude, whether in uniform or outside. This inspired me from my dad's example and always built within me the urge to emulate his steps in making some useful changes in my environment. His commitment to service has become my guiding principle, influencing my desire to pursue a career in healthcare. In my future, a desire seems to burn in me to meld my commitment to serve with my career aspirations in the healthcare field. Be it nursing, public health, or medicine, I promise to continue practicing my skills and knowledge, trying to bridge the health gaps and improve the lives of the disadvantaged. I strongly believe that healthcare is a potent healer and can restore hope, which I would love to be a part of. I want to be that catalyst for change, who through commitment and passion, tries to bridge the gaps in accessing care and ensures equality for all in living healthier, fulfilling lives. A legacy I would like to create includes service, compassion, and commitment to building improved public health. In doing so, I hope to honor the legacy of service instilled in me by my father and inspire others to join me in creating a healthier, more equitable world for all.
    Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
Billie Eilish, to me, is someone who has influenced my life and is an artist whose music reaches into the deeper aspects of my thoughts. Three of her songs that ring deep in me, touching my feelings in ways quite indescribable but so strong. "idontwannabeyouanymore", "everything i wanted", and "What Was I Made For?" are tracks that keep me through moments of strife, especially those to do with mental health and trauma. "idontwannabeyouanymore" really speaks to me because it holds feelings of self-doubt and the pain of disconnection to self. That track by Billie is raw vulnerability. It talks to every inner struggle many women go through, from the entrapment of expectations to seeking one's value. This song helped me work through those complicated feelings of not being "good enough" or worthy of love while dealing with the aftermath of abuse and battling my own mental health. When Billie said, "I don't wanna be you anymore," she legitimized all those feelings of frustration and disconnection, yet at the same time, it felt like solidarity. "everything i wanted" became my anthem during a particularly dark period. The song addresses the emptiness that can come with success, fame, and external validation. First, Billie's words about how everything she thought she wanted finally left her feeling empty mirrored my feelings of confusion and loss. This is a song about being in a fight with expectations-weighted from both others and ourselves. That was reassurance for me that I wasn't alone, even though I feel that way most of the time. Billie is so candid with her fragility and struggles with mental health, really in a way that just let me feel less alone in the struggle. Last but not least, "What Was I Made For?" hit me in a way no others did. It's about looking for purpose during life, which turns into overburden and the uncertainty of her identity. This song, during days when I really didn't know what was going on and questioned my pain, told me that it's okay not to know all the answers. It sounded like Billie spoke out loud the unasked questions and fears in my own life. This song consoled me, gave me hope as it gently reminded me that even in the darkest of times, still there is a reason waiting to be found. Her music has been a strong source of comfort to me, especially in the perspective of being a woman and going through lots of complex emotions. She addresses issues of vulnerability, self-worth, and mental health in such a real manner has made her songs not only a soundtrack to my life but a form of healing. She has been an artist who, through her words and melodies, has helped me process my own experiences with abuse and mental health. I find strength, empathy, and most importantly, the realization that I am not alone in my struggles through Billie Eilish's music.
    Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
Sabrina Carpenter has been an important part of my life ever since I can remember, and as time goes on, my respect for her only grows with every passing year. Growing up, I was a big fan of Girl Meets World. That's the first place where I watched the magic of Sabrina acting as Maya Hart's relatable and inspiring character. I connected with Maya's wit, heart, and struggles; Sabrina made it relatable to connect with her. Watching Girl Meets World while growing up was comforting because it felt like Sabrina was a friend herself, guiding me through things I experienced or went through. Then when Sabrina transitioned out of acting into music, I followed her music closely. With every passing year, her music just kept growing, and I did, too. From those very early hits like "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying" to more mature tracks like "Skin" and "Emails I Can't Send," the lyrics of Sabrina have almost felt like the soundtrack of my life. She has this ability in music to weave storytelling with raw emotion that made me feel seen, especially during times when not many things were working in my favor. Whenever I struggled with my mental health, her songs became comforting; they put words to feelings I couldn't, and their music allowed me to feel less alone in my pain. What made Sabrina stand out to me was how raw and authentic she was in using her platform to talk about her experiences. She stays true to herself, embracing every part of her uniqueness by using her music as a means to express not just happiness but the complexities of growing up, heartbreak, and self-discovery. She has inspired me with resilience and openness to talk about struggles in her own life; it has taught me to be kind to myself, and take strength in vulnerability. The impact she had on me is beyond her talent, but in the way she creates this emotional bond with fans. Through her music and acting, Sabrina showed me that creativity can be such a powerful way of handling hard situations. She has been a source of comfort for me, and I just feel so grateful for the place she has played in my life, whether as an artist or more so as an inspiration to me.
