Teaching Like Teri Scholarship
My drive to become a teacher started when I was a toddler around 5 years old. Ever since I started going to Pre-School, I would come home and pretend to be a teacher. I have older sisters so I had a nephew and niece at that age that were a couple years below me just learning how to walk, and I would pretend they were my students and read them books. As they got older, I would have a little white board to teach βmathβ and print out easy work sheets that they had to βturn inβ just like a real classroom. I absolutely loved the idea of being a teacher. As I continued to get older throughout Elementary School, Middle School, and High School, I held onto my dream to have my own classroom one day.
I would absolutely love the amazing opportunity to receive this scholarship and help grow closer and closer to making a difference in kids lives. I will strive to be the best teacher I can be and to make school a safe and comfortable environment. I want to create a classroom where kids are comfortable and look forward to coming to school!
My favorite year throughout the past 12 years in school, has been 4th grade. I had a teacher who changed my life. She was kind, caring, thoughtful, and very supportive. Even when I made mistakes or couldnβt understand what was being taught, she found a way to help me better understand it and know that making mistakes was a good thing. Mistakes are proof that you are trying that she loved seeing everyone try their best! Ever since that class, Iβve been inspired to be like her and to teach kids the same thing. I want to teach them that mistakes shouldnβt bring you down, they should motivate you to keep trying. She was always willing to help us and her patience was very strong with us every day. She never yelled when we messed up, she taught. She taught us what we could do better next time and how we can improve for it doesnβt happen again. Just like teachers should do. I look forward to becoming the best teacher I can be and helping kids learn to love to come to school. I am very excited to see all the adventures life brings me while I pursue my dream and make every second count!
Ms. Sobaskiβs Strength and Kindness Memorial Scholarship
A difficultly I have faced is in high school. Some conflicts occurred with a friend of mine and it was very hard for me to get through some things that had happened. I am so thankful for all my friends, family, and teachers that were there for me and helped me get through it. They were all so supportive and loving towards me and I will never forget them.
First, I want to talk about how strength helped get me through it. Sometimes when I would be sad or hurting, it was hard to still face the worldly things that teenagers go through every day. I would I have to pull myself together every day and still make it to school and all my classes on time, and keep my positive mindset, and try to give out positive energy. It can be challenging when others are trying to bring you down but in the end it only makes you stronger!
Second, I want to talk about how kindness got me through. Kindness is one of my strongest attributes and I even won the Kindest Heart award at my school in the senior assembly. Being kind is the most important thing you can do to and for everyone around you! However, when others are not kind back it can be hard to be kind in return. During my difficultly that I was facing I tried to tell myself that even though thereβs so much negative going on around me, I have to be the one to bring the positivity in. Being negative only makes things harder to get through, I learned that the hard way. After I overcame my trial, I was filled with so much joy that even though I might have lost someone in my life, I made so many new friends and it opened up so many possibilities for me! I was able to hang out with people Iβve never hung out with before, be a better listener, and in the end, learn how to be even kinder even in the worst of times!
The main life lesson I learned during this was kindness matters. My whole heart wishes they were kind towards me but before this had happened, maybe I took kindness for granted. People were kind to me but I didnβt appreciate it as much as I do know until I noticed how much someone can not be kind. Kindness matters no matter who itβs towards, where you are, or what youβve been through.
Iβm thankful for this difficultly I had to go through because it made me a lot stronger and made my kindness shine even brighter than before.

I love being a leader and bringing smiles to everyoneβs face! I have been apart of a different leadership position all through out my years in education. The past 3 years, I have been in Student Council at my school! The past 2 years, I have served on the Executive Board as our Student Body Treasurer. I am also our social media manager at my job at Chick-fil-A! I love editing and putting things together. I love working together, alone, with partners, or big groups! My top goal while pursuing my dreams is to stay organized. When I am not organized, it only makes it harder to get things done. I like to know what I have done, and what I need to do! Another goal I have is to stay accountable. Many people will count on you for different things throughout your education life and being a person they can trust is huge! Being a leader means everything to me. Therefore, let me tell you what I want to do in my future!
After I graduate this year, I want to attend BYU Idaho this fall 2024. Iβm so excited to meet new people and eventually start my career as an elementary teacher. I love kids and I want to be the teacher that makes a difference in their lives. Being the one that makes them excited to go to school, and excited to learn. I want to create a home-like environment where they always feel comfortable! However, growth is not in the comfort zone so Iβll always encourage them to try their best at anything set before them!
As I start my journey to accomplish these things, it will be a little hard. I will need to maintain a good job, keep my grades up, and not only stay focused, but stay organized! It would be very nice to have earned a scholarship to help me on my way to my future goals. This scholarship means a lot to me. It would help me become closer to kids in the classroom, to making a difference in their lives, and to pursue any other goals I may come across. This scholarship will help me in so many ways as it will help pay for the education I need to accomplish these things. Education is not cheap, but itβs so worth it! With a bit a financial help, it will help me strive to do my very best as everything I do! I really hope I get the wonderful opportunity to show you what I can do with this scholarship and what it can help me become!
