Bio

I'm bold and ambitious. My journey in aviation began with a dream of becoming a commercial pilot but evolved when I discovered my love for air traffic control (ATC). I excelled in rigorous mathematics and physics courses during my undergraduate studies, earning my private pilot license and taking on leadership roles within the aviation industry. My commitment to mentoring and teaching others has been a common thread throughout my career, beginning as an ATC Assistant at the University of North Dakota and later as a respected air traffic control instructor. My experiences have shaped me into a resilient, inquisitive, and forward-thinking individual. Despite personal and financial challenges, including the profound loss of my mother, I'm steadfast in my pursuit of excellence. As a graduate student, I transitioned into groundbreaking research roles, including internships with NASA and SPA, where I worked on innovative projects involving unmanned aircraft systems and complex defense systems. Now, as an Acquisition Program Manager for the Air Force, I continue to integrate my technical expertise with strategic communication. Pursuing a Doctor of Education in Applied Educational Studies in Aviation and Space Education at Oklahoma State University is the culmination of my professional and personal aspirations. I'm deserving of a scholarship because of my unwavering commitment to advancing aviation education, my proven leadership and mentorship abilities, and my drive to inspire others in such a rapidly evolving industry. https://www.linkedin.com/in/casandrahurd/
