Bio

Most high school Seniors would probably respond with lofty goals of pursuing a more traditional path, not me. Ever since I was 12 years old, I have desired to be a professional dancer to uplift and inspire people to think and feel outside of their own worlds. Hussian College in Los Angeles is my choice. It is the only institution that offers Commercial Dance, combines traditional study with real world immersion and aligns with my ideal life. Commercial Dance is my passion because it is a free-spirited industry that offers more versatility and artistry such as choreography, creative directing, television, movie and stage production, music and much more. It will allow me to explore all of my creativity, become my best self and make my impact in this world. I am a great candidate because I am an ever-evolving being and my purpose in life is to serve others through my artistry and creative talents. After I learned that my artistry could save one life, I knew I had to keep developing myself as an artist in order to save, inspire, motivate and educate more. My open mind is the stem of all I do and my multi-dimensional perspectives, tireless work ethic and dedication to the arts will pave my way into the entertainment industry. You will see me on the big stage, in movies, music videos, and television dancing and acting and name in the credits as the creative director, music producer and so much more. The more I learn, the more I can give; so, I plan to explore every aspect and also pursue international travel to teach and choreograph.

I jumped out my mother's womb doing a flip. I attended my first dance class when I was finally potty trained at the age of two. Anything music related has always been my sense of relief, however, it took me years to find my artistry. It did not just show up at my front door step. Being an artist means so much to me. Throughout the years of my life, I have studied many forms of art, and what I have found out is that art has a specific level of control over the world. There is a certain frequency that art possesses that chooses whether someone feels anger, bliss, depression, or confidence. That is a lot of power for anything to hold. It is not that I want that power, I just want to be used as a vessel to produce parts of that power that can introduce the world to new genres of life through unity, love, and celebration. The world is already an extremely harsh place and the media does not make anything easier. Subliminal messages of pain and lack of mental stability are being spread through a lot of media today. While it is not the artists' job to care for the mental health of their audience, and they just want to create popular art that sells, they should take into consideration that they are contributing to the insanity in this world. I want to make sure that I am never the reason for someone else's pain. Also, because of the day in time we are in right now, social media is beginning to raise children before their own parents have the chance to. While there are good outcomes, in these situations, the preferrable outcome is not always the result. Social media has traumatized today's youth into thinking that they either have to act older than they really are or they need to try to be misunderstood so that they can have a reason to rebel and stand out. Standing out is great, but what is the reason that most children want to stand out today? It is because they do not feel loved where they are, so they search for media content that appeals to their senses of temporary fulfillment, which never helps their core problem. This is why social media is one of the world's largest distractions, and from my perspective, if it is going to distract people, I want it to be a "good distraction." I want people to see my art, consume it, and use it as a form of therapy that can spark conversations about mental health and unconditional love. The concepts that drive me the most to create art are the vulnerability, innocence, and malleability characteristics of the youth in every generation. Because they tend to be fearless and they absorb loads of information expeditiously, I want to reach them before they get the chance to be tainted by the ways of this malicious, unforgiving world. My motto is "love, light, and positivity" because that is want I want to spread throughout the universe. I literally do it for the children because when they grow up with a strong, positive foundation, there is nothing holding them back from changing the world in their own ways. No one person has the power to completely change the world around in their lifetime. While they may make significant and small changes that aid the outcome, "it takes a village" to make larger differences, and I want to be a part in that village through the use of my various art forms and innovations.

Positive change in the world thru art inspires and drives me. My art form is dance which has been a part of my life since I was two years old. When I was 12, I wrote in my journal that I wanted to home school, dance full time and be a professional dancer by the time I was 16. Well, it happened but not as I expected. I've learned that the road in life can be filled with unexpected twists and turns. At the age of thirteen, my world changed forever. The steady and secure road I was traveling took an abrupt detour as the voice of one of my greatest fans was silenced. My father was stricken with prostate cancer and passed away. Dance and music became even more important because it provided a way for me release my inner most feelings and focus on something other than the pain I was feeling. Now, I just have my mom who is also a caregiver for my grandmother and I have my older brother. One surreal morning, I received a Snapchat notification from an unknown follower: "Because of you, I didn't kill myself yesterday." She told me she couldn't stop watching and laughing. I already knew I was destined to perform and use my dance, choreography and a multitude of creative talents but that one Snapchat and the last few years have truly given me clarity on my artistic ambition and career path of commercial dance. When I was a freshman, we attended a dance festival. Several schools offered scholarships, but one in particular changed the trajectory of my and my family's life and catapulted me into my dreams. Joffrey Ballet offered me an opportunity to dance full time in either New York or Texas. My family and I sold our home in North Carolina and relocated to Texas where I home schooled and trained for 2 years. The experience at Joffrey Ballet as a pre-professional Jazz Contemporary Trainee was priceless; the experience, extraordinary. After one year of study with Joffrey, I auditioned and was selected to perform for a hip hop competition team and the infamous Dallas Cowboy's Rookie Squad. This was an experience of a lifetime! After I learned that my artistry could save one life, I knew I had to keep developing myself as an artist. I want to uplift and inspire people to think and feel outside of their own worlds. So I will pursue my bachelor of fine arts degree at Hussian College in Los Angeles. It is the only institution that offers commercial dance, combines traditional study with real world immersion and aligns with my ideal life. Although I am academically inclined, have a 3.8 grade point average, aced calculus and chemistry, and could pursue so many different careers, dance and the performing arts are my true calling. I will always work hard, make a positive impact wherever my feet take me, and inspire others to be the best version of themselves.

ONE SURREAL MORNING, I RECEIVED A SNAPCHAT NOTIFICATION FROM AN UNKNOWN FOLLOWER. “BECAUSE OF YOU, I DIDN’T KILL MYSELF YESTERDAY.” SHE TOLD ME SHE COULDN’T STOP WATCHING AND LAUGHING. I ALREADY KNEW I WAS DESTINED TO PERFORM AND USE MY DANCE, CHOREOGRAPHY AND A MULTITUDE OF CREATIVE TALENTS BUT THAT ONE SNAPCHAT AND THE LAST FEW YEARS HAVE TRULY GIVEN ME CLARITY ON MY BIGGEST ARTISTIC AMBITION AND CAREER PATH OF COMMERCIAL DANCE. DANCE HAS BEEN A PART OF MY LIFE SINCE I WAS TWO YEARS OLD. WHETHER IT WAS COMPETING OR TAKING HUNDREDS OF EXTRA CLASSES, DANCE BECAME SECOND NATURE TO ME. AT 13, MY WORLD CHANGED FOREVER. THE STEADY AND SECURE ROAD I WAS TRAVELING TOOK AN ABRUPT DETOUR AS THE VOICE OF ONE OF MY GREATEST FANS WAS SILENCED. MY FATHER WAS STRICKEN WITH PROSTATE CANCER AND PASSED AWAY. DANCE AND MUSIC BECAME EVEN MORE IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT PROVIDED A WAY FOR ME TO GRIEVE, RELEASE MY INNER MOST FEELINGS AND FOCUS ON SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE PAIN I WAS FEELING. NOW, I JUST HAVE MY MOM WHO IS A CAREGIVER FOR MY GRANDMOTHER AND I HAVE MY OLDER BROTHER. WHEN I WAS A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL, WE ATTENDED A DANCE FESTIVAL IN PITTSBURGH. SEVERAL SCHOOLS OFFERED SUMMER SCHOLARSHIPS, BUT ONE IN PARTICULAR CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF MY AND MY FAMILY’S LIFE AND CATAPULTED ME INTO MY DREAMS. JOFFREY BALLET OFFERED ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO DANCE FULL TIME IN EITHER NEW YORK OR TEXAS AND I CHOSE TEXAS. MY FAMILY AND I SOLD OUR HOME AND RELOCATED TO TEXAS WHERE I HOME SCHOOLED AND TRAINED FOR 2 YEARS. THE EXPERIENCE AT JOFFREY BALLET AS A PRE-PROFESSIONAL JAZZ CONTEMPORARY TRAINEE WAS PRICELESS; THE EXPERIENCE, EXTRAORDINARY. WE WERE TRAINED BY SOME OF THE INDUSTRY'S FINEST. AFTER ONE YEAR OF STUDY WITH JOFFREY, I AUDITIONED AND WAS SELECTED TO PERFORM FOR A HIP HOP COMPETITION TEAM AND FOR THE INFAMOUS DALLAS COWBOY’S ROOKIE SQUAD FOR ALL OF THEIR HOME GAMES. THIS WAS AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME! I AM AN EVER-EVOLVING BEING WHO STRIVES TO BE A SYMBOL OF PEACE IN THIS WORLD THROUGH ART. I BELIEVE MY PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO SERVE OTHERS THROUGH MY ARTISTRY AND CREATIVE TALENTS. AFTER I LEARNED THAT MY ARTISTRY COULD SAVE ONE LIFE, I KNEW I HAD TO KEEP DEVELOPING MYSELF AS AN ARTIST IN ORDER TO SAVE, INSPIRE, MOTIVATE AND EDUCATE MORE. I WANT TO UPLIFT AND INSPIRE PEOPLE TO THINK AND FEEL OUTSIDE OF THEIR OWN WORLDS. SO, PURSUING MY BFA AT HUSSIAN COLLEGE IN LOS ANGELES IS MY CHOICE. IT IS THE ONLY INSTITUTION THAT OFFERS COMMERCIAL DANCE, COMBINES TRADITIONAL STUDY WITH REAL WORLD IMMERSION AND ALIGNS WITH MY IDEAL LIFE. ALTHOUGH I AM ACADEMICALLY INCLINED, HAVE A 3.8 GRADE POINT AVERAGE, ACED CALCULUS AND CHEMISTRY, AND COULD PURSUE SO MANY DIFFERENT CAREERS, I FEEL AS THOUGH THE PERFORMING ARTS IS MY TRUE CALLING. BECAUSE OF MY FUNDAMENTAL BELIEFS, I WILL ALWAYS WORK HARD, MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT WHEREVER MY FEET TAKE ME, MAINTAIN AN OPEN MIND AND INSPIRE OTHERS TO BE THE BEST VERSION OF THEMSELVES. MY OPRN MIND IS THE STEM OF ALL I DO AND MY MULTI-DIMENSIONAL PERSPECTIVES, TIRELESS WORK ETHIC AND DEDICATION TO THE ARTS WILL PAVE MY WAY INTO THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY. YOU WILL SEE ME ON THE BIG STAGE, IN MOVIES, MUSIC VIDEOS, AND TELEVISION DANCING AND ACTING OR MY NAME IN THE CREDITS AS THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR, MUSIC PRODUCER AND SO MUCH MORE. THE MORE I LEARN, THE MORE I CAN GIVE; SO, I PLAN TO EXPLORE EVERY ASPECT AND ALSO PURSUE INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL TO TEACH AND CHOREOGRAPH. I WILL USE THE NERVO "REVOLUTION" SCHOLARSHIP TO CONTINUE STUDYING THE VARIOUS ART FORMS IN ORDER TO BECOME MY BEST SELF AND MAKE MY IMPACT IN THIS WORLD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION!

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine dancing for the Dallas Cowboys Rookie Squad! This goes to show when you step out on faith, the unimaginable can happen. At 12, I wrote in my journal that I wanted to be a professional dancer. At 15, Joffrey Ballet saw me dance in Pennsylvia and offered me an opportunity to move to Dallas to train full-time and homeschool as a pre-professional Contemporary Jazz trainee. My family made the sacrifice, sold our home and moved from North Carolina to Texas. In 2019, I auditioned and found myself performing for the Cowboys!

So, Hussian College in Los Angeles is my choice. I will continue to spread love, light and positivity through the multitude of art forms in order to become my best self and make my impact in this world. Thank you for your consideration.

One surreal morning, I received a Snapchat notification from an unknown follower. “Because of you, I didn’t kill myself yesterday.” She told me she couldn’t stop watching and laughing. I already knew I was destined to perform and use my dance, choreography and a multitude of creative talents but that one Snapchat and the last few years have truly given me clarity on my chosen career path of Commercial Dance. Dance has been a part of my life since I was two years old. Whether it was competing or taking hundreds of extra classes, dance became second nature to me. When I was 12, I wrote in my journal that I wanted to home school, dance full time and be a professional dancer by the time I was 16. Well, it happened but not as I expected. I've learned that the road in life can be filled with unexpected twists and turns.
