I am Caroline Warner.
I want to go to school for psychology to become a social worker for foster children. My love for foster children started when I was a teenager volunteering for a children's camp. My church organized this camp specifically for fostered and adopted children. Since that time, I believe my ministry is meant to bring healing spiritually to these children and to bring hope through advocacy. I believe that the foster care system has a lot of problems that should be addressed. Many social workers are burnt out and have become so frustrated with the system they have become apathetic. Being a Christian, I know that I can be a light and a vessel for God in this system. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit I know I can make a difference for these children. My experience as a CNA and former pursuit of nursing will be a great asset for me in the field of social work. It has taught me how to look quickly at the overall condition of a person and notice when they are not at baseline. Through that training, I immediately notice visible damages such as cuts, bruises, and bigger wounds. Having this type of healthcare background has prepared me to handle situations of crisis. As a case-appointed social advocate (CASA) I have learned how to speak to judges and speak more eloquently to achieve greater advocacy for my clients. I have a taste of the judicial and foster system, which will accelerate me in schooling and for my future career as a social worker.
