Hello, I am Camden! My biggest goal in life at the moment is to be a nurse and I am most passionate about helping others! I am a great candidate because I am a first generation college student, and also because I am dedicated to make a change. I am in need of financial assistance, as my mom was diagnosed with cancer within the last 6 months, and I she can no longer help me with college. The bills are very stressful and expensive, but I am keeping the faith. I am strong, just like my Momma! Any help is a blessing and I am truly appreciative to be able to further my education.

My mom has been my diamond throughout my whole life. I use diamond instead of rock, as my mom is unbreakable. As a single mother of two, she faced numerous challenges, yet her unwavering optimism guided us through even the darkest times. I distinctly remember feeling different from my peers in kindergarten. While finger painting family portraits, my depiction stood out among the others. My mom would always hang each of them proudly on our fridge, reassuring me that our uniqueness was something to cherish.
During my preteen years, as I navigated awkward growth spurts, my mom explained floods in a humorous yet caring manner: 'Your pants are getting too short, so it looks like you pulled them up to walk through floodwater.' Despite her own struggles, she worked extra shifts to buy me new clothes, sacrificing her own needs for mine.
In middle school, I joined the school play, uncertain and nervous about my minor role. My mom, always supportive, joked that no one would notice if I flubbed my lines. Yet, unbeknownst to me, she snuck into the auditorium on the night of the performance, beaming with pride as she watched me on stage.
As I approached the end of high school, unsure of my path, I observed my mom's compassion and selflessness in her interactions with others. Her generosity, even when facing financial constraints, inspired me. Witnessing her dedication to her home-healthcare patients sparked a desire in me to pursue nursing, a career where I could emulate her empathy and care.
At nineteen, during winter break, my mom revealed her battle with cancer. Despite my pleading for details, she refused to let the diagnosis define her. I was devastated, yet she comforted me, her strength unwavering even in the face of uncertainty. I struggled with my emotions, feeling weak for my tears, yet my mom, fighting her own battle, remained my pillar of support.
Upon learning of her upcoming surgery, I knew I had to be there for her. I reached out to my professors, who graciously understood, and returned home to Cleveland. The surgery was successful, and I assumed the role of caregiver, reciprocating the love and support she had always shown me.
Throughout my life, my mom has been my greatest teacher and supporter. Her resilience in the face of adversity, her selflessness, and her unwavering love have shaped me into the person I am today. As I embark on my journey into nursing, I carry with me her lessons of compassion and empathy, determined to make a difference in the lives of others, just as she has in mine.
