Misha Brahmbhatt Help Your Community Scholarship
Growing up, in the past few years of my life, my father has had the opportunity to serve as the bishop of our church. This overall has been a very fulfilling experience, but one of the downsides of being a bishop's son is that you are constantly picking up on the bad news concerning the community. For the past several years I have been plagued with depressing tales of those in need. Desperate to make a change I chose to play my part in making a difference. I decided to hold a food and clothing drive to help families in need for the upcoming school year. I contacted all the bishops in the community and asked which families would benefit the most from this service. I narrowed the list down to five families to whom I could distribute the donations. I then made a list of 50 people in the community who I thought would be generous candidates to contribute to my project. I drafted and delivered letters describing what I was doing and asked them to help me in my cause. An outpouring of support followed. Clothes, school supplies, food, and cash were donated. After sorting through everything and determining what donations would go to each of the families, I anonymously delivered everything. I was even able to pay for all of one student's tuition for their highschool year. My mind was more at ease because of this project because I know that I was able to help lift the burden of the stress of the upcoming school year. The biggest reward for me was when my younger brother returned home from the first day of school and said that one of the boys we donated to was wearing a shirt that we had given him.
This experience has taught me the value of looking outward and participating in facing the problems in my community. My involvement in serving those around me has had a profound impact on my future career and education goals. For most of my time growing up, I had always wanted to become a pilot and travel the world. However, as I have embarked on more service projects and participated in more volunteer work, I have learned that I receive more joy from working hard to better the lives of those around me, not sightseeing. As I have grown to love the opportunity to serve, my future career goal has changed to that of a teacher. I hope that I can have the opportunity to teach the next generation and pass on the knowledge that I have. I am pursuing this goal now by applying to numerous colleges and scholarships. The biggest step in accomplishing this goal is financing my college attendance. I hope that this scholarship will aid me in my cause for making my community and our world a better place.
John J. DiPietro COME OUT STRONG Scholarship
Everyone who lives will die twice. Once when our bodies physically die, and once when somebody mentions our name for the last time. Legacy to me means that someone has achieved immortality concerning the second definition of death. Leaving a legacy means that you did something in your life worth remembering. In my history classes, I have learned that in general, those with legacies are those with wealth, military dominance, and profound political influence. Songs, poems, literature, art, stories, and in this day and age, movies, have preserved the memories of great and terrible men and women. Though such people are long dead, the influence of these legacies has had an important influence on our present culture. We can learn from their examples what is "good" and what is "bad" when we in modern times make decisions. Through legacies left from influential characters in the story of humanity, we can best know how to use our agency for the welfare of the human race. Those who develop good legacies are those who are the best role models. My role model is my grandfather. His memory will not have the same luster as that of a United States president, and will certainly not last as long, but I argue that for me, his legacy is more valuable than any president or king. When I remember my grandfather I am reminded of hard work, love, honesty, and strong family values. He was raised in poverty but was able to provide a fabulous future for his prosperity through his dedication to that which he knew to be right. His legacy is not glamorous or revolutionary, but the values that he stood for have been around as long as human history, and his story of how he lived provides guidance to me as I pursue my goals. As I pursue my goal of higher education, I am sure to remember my grandfather's example. It is easy for me to get caught up in my work and get self-centered, but my role model has shown me that true happiness does not come from awards and good grades, but instead comes from using your work to benefit the lives of others. This has helped shape me as I consider my potential careers. Because of my grandfather's influence, I want to pursue a career in either the medical field or education. I want to exemplify the same values that he did so others can benefit from my work. I want to make the world a better place. The biggest challenge in accomplishing my ambitious goals is financing my education. I have saved my money ever since a young age in hopes that I can go to college. As the time nears where I must use these saving to pursue my goals, I know I do not have enough. Please join me in my cause of bettering the lives of others and making the world a better place by helping me get into college.
KUURO Master Your Craft Scholarship
Four years ago, my grandpa introduced me to the art of leatherwork. It was a trade that had been passed down in his family and he turned it into a means of personal income by selling handcrafted leather products. However, my grandpa, after several years was becoming more and more run down by the responsibility of running a business. Not wanting to let the tradition die, he gave me his tools, dies, patterns, and supplies since he recognized my interest in leatherwork. After teaching me the basics and helping me create a personal belt and gun holster he set me loose. At first, I wasn’t exactly sure what to do with everything he gave me. I didn’t know how to do everything or work with all the tools. My workmanship was fair at best and I had no ambition to turn my work into a means of earning money. Determined to improve myself, I began to research different techniques and projects through the internet. In a matter of seconds, I had at my disposal an entire arsenal of information. It was different from learning the skills on a traditional learning platform, but through technology, I was able to expand my creativity in whichever way I wanted to with ease. I began to express myself in my work. After developing my talents, I began to take interest in how I could earn money from my crafts. I began selling leather products at fairs in the community. The process was slow but after a few years, I was able to build a good reputation among my customers. My favorite thing to do was help people design their own custom products. I was able to share my talent in helping other people express their creativity through my work. Although this experience was not particularly lucrative, it was an important learning experience that will affect me for the rest of my life. I plan to continue learning new ways to express myself as I am constantly learning new techniques and styles of working with leather. Ninety percent of the money that I have earned through my leatherworking business has gone towards my college savings. I strive to further my education and financing my ambitious goals has been the most difficult part. Please join my cause in helping me further my education as I seek to beautify our world through my work.
Simple Studies Scholarship
I want to study public health in college because keeping people healthy so they can be productive members of the community I feel is the most important thing. Ever since kindergarten I have been a dedicated student and have always tried my best so I know that I am up for the challenging curriculum. My mother was a nurse and I have always idolized her because of her stories where she was able to change someones life with her skills. I aspire to serve my fellow humans and my skill set is in tune for this field of study. I have been a victim of poor lung health throughout my entire childhood. I was only able to improve my health by the effort of those who took the time to care for my condition. I have been given new life by the deeds of these great men and women in the medical field, and as a show of gratitude I want to pursue a similar career. I am aspiring to this goal by currently applying for collages and scholarships. My biggest challenge is financing my ambitious goals. I hope that you will join me in my cause of bettering the lives of others helping me pay for college. Together we can do great things.
Make Me Laugh Meme Scholarship
Memes are a way of communication through humor. They are very effective in diffusing tense situations, helping us relate to other people's emotions, and just giving someone a reason to have a good laugh every now and then. Even though they are silly and sometimes strange, we often discredit the power of memes. They have become an important aspect of our culture and I will argue that overall, the results of memes have been a net positive. What better way to campaign a belief or idea than through the simpleness of a joke. In these modern times, people are killing each other just because they have different views. Memes on the other hand are a constructive outlet for sharing ideas because instead of destroying relations, they can give people something to laugh about. And I think that after the challenging year of 2020, we all could do with a few more laughs. The meme I submitted is an excellent example of this. Two years ago nobody would get it, but it is now something that we all understand and find humor from. Covid can be scary but this meme helps diffuse what would otherwise be a tense situation.
Brady Cobin Law Group "Expect the Unexpected" Scholarship
Everyone who lives will die twice. Once when our bodies physically die, and once when somebody mentions our name for the last time. Legacy to me means that someone has achieved immortality concerning the second definition of death. Leaving a legacy means that you did something in your life worth remembering. There are hundreds of different ways of doing this. This for me is what makes a legacy valuable. Not if they are long-lasting, most prominent, or even if the legacies are made as a result of "good" or "bad" actions, but instead a legacy is valuable if it teaches a lesson that can improve the lives of those who currently occupy our world. For example, Adolf Hitler's legacy of destruction, discrimination, and misuse of power, although terrible and frightening, is still a valuable legacy for those who live today. We currently use his legacy as a guidebook for what we must not do in achieving peace and prosperity. As long as we remember and learn from the mistakes of this dead man, his legacy has value. Another example of a valuable legacy is that of my grandfather. My grandfather's legacy has value. Through imagination, legacies are created. Fictional heroes and villains often times will leave a more impactful legacy than that of their creators. Many people know of the legacy of Harry Potter, but fewer know the story of J.K. Rowling. Why is that? Harry Potter exhibits more extreme personality traits than his creator and therefore has a more famous legacy. I believe that the most influential memories are formed in our minds by those who are extreme exemplars of the best of humanity, or in contrast, the most sinful of scoundrels. Those who live their lives in a comfortable mean of these two maximums, that are categorized as the general public, are not the ones who leave legacies. Those who are classified as "the general public" are not creators of their own legacy but are instead living as byproducts of the legacy of others. I am determined to live my life on my own terms. Not be pushed around like a leaf in a river or tossed like chaff in the wind, I want to take a stance on what I know to be right and build a reputation that embodies the best of human nature. If people ever remember me I want to be remembered as a man who was kind, ambitious about learning, service-oriented, brave, full of integrity, and above all a friend to those around me. While achieving and strengthening these values is good for me as an individual, I want to create a legacy so that when I pass from this existence people will learn from my example. I want my memory to be valuable to those who remember my name.

Charles R. Ullman & Associates Educational Support Scholarship
It is important for people to be involved in their communities so everyone can benefit from the effects of altruism. In this day and age, it is easy to get caught up in our own personal desires and ambitions, but it is important to remember that everyone else also has their own desires and ambitions too. We as humans cannot survive alone. We need the support of each other to accomplish our dreams and further our boundaries. As a cherry on top of being involved in our communities, we can build friendships and achieve a sense of personal fulfillment. These are some bold words coming from a teenager, but I promise they are true. I know from experience, and I would like to share with you one of the stories of how I have come to learn these important principles. Growing up, in the past few years of my life, my father has had the opportunity to serve as the bishop of our church. This overall has been a very fulfilling experience, but one of the downsides of being a bishop's son is that you are constantly picking up on the bad news concerning the community. "What Moves You" Scholarship
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." This quote from Winston Churchill has inspired me to take action in helping those less fortunate than myself in my community. Desperate to make a difference I chose to hold a food and clothing drive to help families in need for the upcoming school year. I contacted all the bishops in the community and asked which families would benefit the most from this service. I narrowed the list down to five families to whom I could distribute the donations. I then made a list of 50 people in the community who I thought would be generous candidates to contribute to my project. I drafted and delivered letters describing what I was doing and asked them to help support my cause. I included Winson Churchill's quote in the letter in hopes that it would help spur support. An outpouring of responses followed. I have a living from all the stuff that I have, but just as Churchill says, I was only able to have a life when I was willing to share with others.
Bold Moments No-Essay Scholarship
My grandpa loves triathlons and last year he signed up for one. However, during training, he was hit by a car and injured. They wouldn't let him refund his money for the race so he reached out to me to take his place. I had never done a triathlon before but I stepped up to the challenge to honor the great man my grandpa is. The day of the race was rainy, windy, and cold. I loved it. This experience has led to my love of this physically demanding sport.
Pettable Pet Lovers Scholarship
Rocky is my best friend and I want to share with you my favorite memory of him. I take Rocky with me during my summer job where I rotate wheel lines to water crops. One day I had some equipment blow apart and I couldn't find the gasket I needed to put it together. I was about to call my boss when I looked up and found Rocky sitting in front of me with the gasket in his mouth. I don't know how he found it but I know he could sense my need and decided to help out.
Hailey Julia "Jesus Changed my Life" Scholarship
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Jesus is someone who I can truly say has changed my life. I have been taught at a young age the stories of the life of Jesus and here is what I have learned. The key to happiness is service, and you don't have to come from great circumstances to be great. As the influence of Jesus has been a constant presence in my life, I have been made more aware of the needs of others. For example, one of the downsides of being a bishop's son is that you pick up on a lot of the bad news going on around the community. Depressing stories of people in need have plagued me through most of my teenage years. Desperate to make a change, I chose to follow Jesus's example and decided to play my part in making a difference in the community. I drafted and delivered letters describing what I was doing and asked them to help me in my cause and told them what date I would be collecting the items. Jesus's example of service has not only helped me, but it has influenced me to help others. The next important truth I have learned from Jesus is that you don't need to come from great circumstances to achieve greatness. Jesus was born in a stable in the most humble of circumstances. He was born to a woman of no exceptionally great achievements. He was never wealthy and he was relentlessly persecuted to his death for his revolutionary teachings. Despite all of this, he has been able to influence the entire globe with his teachings. His story is very inspiring to me. I am from a small town, I am not wealthy, and have at times been persecuted for my belief in Jesus. However, I know as I follow Jesus's example I too can have a profound influence on the lives of others and this thought has helped me endure many trials. Following my graduation, I will serve a two-year mission for my church in hopes that I can spread Jesus's influence around the world. Afterward, I will attend college and I hope that this scholarship can help aid me in that goal as I strive to exemplify Jesus's example.
Act Locally Scholarship
In 2019 I set the goal for myself to spend 100 hours of my time in the service for others. I wanted my service to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. I then set off to find a charitable organization that I could share a purpose with. While searching, a friend introduced me to Charity Water. This organization works to provide clean water to people around the globe with the promise that 100% of all donations will go to fighting the water crisis and that they will show you how and where they use your donation. After doing some more research to determine if Charity Water was a trustworthy organization and concluding that they really do stick to their claims, I began thinking of ways in which I could fundraise for them. I was reminded of a man that I had met at the Green River Melon Days fair who was earning money by charging $10 dollars to anyone who wanted to hang on a bar. If they were able to hang for 100 seconds then he would reward them with $100. The catch was that the bar was free-spinning. It was the most lucrative event at the fair. Inspired by this idea, I recruited my dad and we made some quick blueprints to build a similar contraption. Most of the material was donated by Moon Lake Electric and everything else that they didn’t have to offer we were able to buy from Uintah Machine and Ken Lym (my Ag. Systems teacher at the time). After hours of drilling, welding, and stress we finally had a finished product ready to be put into action. I purchased booth space at the Duchesne County fair, set up the bar and a sign, and waited. It was an immediate success. Most of the people were lured into participating with the bribe of winning $100 but it was inspiring to see how many people simply gave money to help support the cause. Spurred by the success of the few days at the fair, we continued the project at the next year's fair, where we were met with an equal amount of positive feedback from the community. I was able to further my path to performing 100 hours of service and I altogether was able to donate $2,500 to Charity Water, who later reported that they were able to help an estimated amount of 79 individuals. This experience led me to meet a wide variety of people and make new friends. I was able to unite with complete strangers to help further the cause of providing clean water to people that I will probably never meet. It was satisfying work and I am thankful for the opportunity I had to put my skills with building and marketing to work to help bring about a positive change. Following this experience, I was once again presented with an opportunity to serve. One of the downsides of being a bishop's son is that you pick up on a lot of the bad news going on around the community. Depressing stories of people in need have plagued me through most of my teenage years. Desperate to make a change I chose to play my part in making a difference in the community. One Move Ahead Chess Scholarship
I was introduced to chess at about the age of eight by my father. We were visiting my grandparent's house and were looking through a storage cabinet and he found an old chess set. He patiently explained to me the basics of the rules and how each piece moved. Ignorant at the time, I thought that it was a simple game and believed that I could easily win. However, as I steadily began to accumulate an impressive losing streak, I learned otherwise. Determined to improve, I played hundreds of games with my family and friends. I began to appreciate the subtle art of formulating an effective strategy and came to learn of different styles and techniques, unique to each individual I played. I learned more rules and moves and quickly began to win more often than not. Something that I have learned from this experience is that you must behave differently in front of different people to "win". What I consider to be a win in social interactions is we both learn from each other and can constructively cooperate in order to reach a common goal. This idea of altruism cannot be accomplished the same way with different people. Just as you have to adapt your chess game and style with different opponents, you have to change around different people you want to work with. For instance, in a school environment, I have to behave as a learner by asking questions, taking notes, and not be the center of attention. On the flip side, if I am teaching someone then I get the spotlight. I have to think on my feet when someone asks me a question and I already have to have a knowledge of the subject. Through chess, I have learned this skill. It has helped me work well with individuals with varying character types and backgrounds. A specific example of this is my creation of a business. My family has a tradition of leatherworking and four years ago my grandpa passed the trade onto me. As I developed my skills in making leather crafts I soon turned it into a business. I would go to various fairs and events in and around my community selling my products. With each customer I encountered, I would have to behave differently to accomplish the desired goal of making a sale. With some people, I would have to be bolder in my approach but other times I had to take the time to be more sentimental and share my personal stories to persuade someone to buy something. The rules for social success didn't change but my approach had to change. The same is true for chess. The rules don't change but your style has to change when playing with different people. Having learned this concept from this unique and intriguing game has greatly changed my career goals. Ever since I was a little kid I have wanted to be a lineman just like my dad and fix power poles and lines. However, as I have applied these social skills I have learned from chess, my goals have changed. I have become fascinated by how the mind works and why people's minds work differently. This fascination has led me to want to become a psychiatrist and help people improve their minds.
