About myself, there isn't much to say but there is something. Growing up as a child I have always been curious about technology as a whole, How, where when it started, and seeing the great electronics it could produce like cars, computers, and other machines I always tell myself, I want to be part of that world. This curiosity led to my love for action movies seeing the extent of what they can create and do. I remember making up a story about its origin saying ''There were two friends, science and human, who fell in love, and technology was a product of that love''. As silly as it sounds, that was a way for me to understand the components of technology, but you know, 50% of people who have dreams and aspirations, do not have the resources they need to achieve those dreams based on their background and I was one of those people. My educational goal hasn't always been consistent since childhood, but it has always focused on one area: working with computers. I grew up in a country that wasn't advanced in technology, it was more like it hadn't embraced all the parts of civilization, we had fewer jobs in the TECH field and most of the jobs available that require the use of computers or other machines were done manually. People had no idea how to navigate the internet let alone devices and, one of the main reasons why people were this Uneducated about technology devices was because they considered it expensive and were contented with their lifestyle. I made my first educational goal when I was 10 years which was, to be a Chartered Accountant I made this decision after analyzing the number of resources I had available and the economic status of our country, also, as of that time accounting was the most popular job you could find in the field of technology, so my surrounding had the most impact on my decision knowing I had limited options to choose from. I promised myself to finish school and earn masters. I grew up I realized that I didn't have a secure future in my country because while in school people, friends, and family members who attend school up to the university level, graduated and still yet can't find a job and, one of the main reasons were people bribe their way to earn a job regardless of if they are qualified or not and this makes us ask ourselves is this how our future will look like, walking around under the scorching hot sun dressed in suits, submitting out CVs to different companies just to hear "sorry there is no Vacancy Available" another reason was, we had limited jobs available. Later on, war started which warranted my family to move to the United States arriving here I said to myself now I have a secure future and unlimited careers in Information technology to choose from. I also realized as I grew older that I was good at fixing damaged objects, so I decided to combine that with my dream which made me decide on Software Engineering. I am currently working hard towards that path even though it's hard, stressful, and requires patience I try to follow the steps accordingly using some of my strengths: dedication, determination, and my Knowledge of the Technology world. Overall, I learned our circumstances don't determine our fate or future. I want to help those who have dreams but no means to accomplish them providing at least some of the resources they need to dive into that path in future.

Imagine growing up in a country full of corruption with no guarantee of your future with few jobs available where the rich bribe the recruiters to secure a job with no or fewer qualifications and we ask ourselves what about those whose parents are poor and struggled to send their children to school and have no money to bribe their way through a job but have a higher qualification when we see situations like this it kills our dreams and we ask ourselves what is the point of going to school if we will end up submitting our CVs to different companies only to hear "sorry there is no vacancy available" and we end up being Hawkers or babysitting rich kids so at a point going to school just became a formality because there was no hope for our future As a girl child growing up in a less civilized country with less access to technology as someone who has always been curious about technology, I came up with a story to understand it better saying it is about two friends' science and human who fell in love and technology was a product of that love. Curiosity lead to my interest in the field of Information technology and coming from a less developed country most parents sent only their male children to school saying female children will end up getting married and have me to take care of them so what is the point of sending females to school if they will depend on the men or where people see it strangely if women are in high positions earning more than then men I am happy to be here where I have all the resources I need to dive into my career of interest without being judges or discriminated upon and even though covid had its effect on me it helped me become well versed with computer understanding then more and I know here in the united states I can be able to have access to all the resources I need to unlock my dream career and am glad am here All my achievements will be dedicated all those who have dreams of being part of STEM and are scared or being tied down by something because of their religion of background or culture and they can have the courage to go after their passing without caring about the hate comments thrown at them.

Things got even worse when the Ambazonia war started which was a war between the English and French part in Cameroon where the English people demand equality from the French, the war started with a peaceful protest where people demanded equality which then escalated to a war that has killed thousands of people and displaced more. After that schools and job, sites were shutdowns and we had to stay home which was scary because every day we could hear Gunshots we slept with one eye open then one day the military came to our neighborhood spraying teargas taking people with them I and my family started running along the way my dad said we should separate to move faster and he took my two siblings while my mum took I and my little brother then my dad told us to keep running and don't stop no matter what then along the way I stumbled upon a rock and fell piercing my left eye with a sharp stick and was bleeding heavily then my mum took me to the hospital where the doctor said the eye has been infected and surgery was done to remove the stick and eye and from that day I could not see with my left eye. After the surgery we ran to the nearest country which where she met a friend who told her of a way to get to the United States where we traveled on foot through different countries, passing through jungles and crossing different rivers at a point we decided to rest then the cops came chasing my mum and we go separated at that point i was scared, confused and didn't know anyone to ask for help so i decided to keep going forward with the hope that i will meet my mum and little brother again which and we reunited after several weeks and from then my mum help me tight as we continued then we finally arrived the United States after 6 months and started school the first day was the most difficult being in a new environment struggling to fit in scared to talk to people because of my accent and because i was still traumatized and depressed then my school social worker and counselor advised me to try participating in some school activities which was fun and therapeutic to me after everything and here am i already a senior still wondering where my dad and two siblings are keeping his last words to mind to keep running and am glad i did not stop because it brought me here and am going to keep running not from something but this time towards my future keeping his last words in mind and dedicating every award, penny and aceivement i earn to him because without him i wouldn't be here.

      Theresa Lord Future Leader Scholarship
Okay firstly my name is Britney Ngwa i am an immigrant who ran away from war and i am just in search of a better future because my past was traumatizing i am currently in high school a junior to be precise and ever since i was a kid i have always loved being around a computer because I believed it was something than could create change-in fact i love technology it self I believe the reason of how advanced the world is today is because of two friends which are science and technology because when they come together the outcome is unexplainable, and speaking of goals there are a lot but i will take them one step at a time so for now my goal is to graduate from high with a very high GPA so i could have a full ride scholarship to any school just holding on to two things faith and hope because that’s all i have no member of my family has ever been to college so am trying to change that perception by trying to be the first to go to college so others will have the inspiration to follow my foot steps . When i was in my country of origin I would never ever have imagined or dream I would ever come to the United States or even enter a plane and the second I step into this country all i saw surrounding me were different pathways with big pictures of your dream future and am glade I could make it here so I could discover what it truly means to have a life and dream big and now I could have access to all the technology i have been hearing about just by seeing how advanced this country is and i can use any computer I want now I know you dreams do really come true and writing this scholarship application is the first step am making to achieving my dreams and even though I don’t get the scholarship at least I tried because it’s better to die trying than to not do anything at all.

Am passionate about a bright future, being able to make my dreams come true and i hope STEM will be there by my side to guide and teach me to become a pro at doing what i love to hold my hand and walk me through on the path to success, to be my mentor and help me improve my self, life, and create a desirable future for myself and everyone. I am very much passionate, STEM because only this four letter alone has advanced the world over the years and and change it or improve it to what they want just with the help of people to find their clues they left and make use of them if the first step to achievement and just being able to write this essay is a big thing for me because i was given privileged to write this application and when am done only one will be there to hold on to which is hope because that’s all there is and this hope will become something worth more depending on the outcome of this i may not have a lot of words to write or maybe something tangible to say but at least I tried the truth is am honored to write this application and write now i have overwhelming with so many things on my mind to say about STEM but just can’t look for the right words to express how i feel and the knowledge i have so in order not to waste your time i will just let you judge and if I don’t succeed at least I tried.
