Bio

Hi, my name is Breanna, and I am a freshman majoring in Biology. My ultimate goal is to become an orthopedic surgeon. I have always had a passion for science and helping others, and medicine provides the perfect combination of these interests. My journey to this point has been shaped by my experiences as a student-athlete and my dedication to making the most of my college experience. Being a student-athlete has taught me the importance of hard work, discipline, and time management. Balancing the demands of school, practice, and games requires a high level of commitment and focus. I have been playing competitive golf since June 2021. I am very competitive by nature and constantly look for ways to improve my game. Golf has taught me many life lessons that I carry with me both on and off the course. One of the biggest lessons is the importance of patience and perseverance. In golf, success does not come overnight; it takes hours of practice, dedication, and hard work. This has taught me that success in any aspect of life requires the same commitment and effort. Golf has also taught me the value of honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship. These values are crucial in golf and life, and I strive to embody them in all that I do. My goal is to have a career in medicine and help others while pursuing my passion for golf at a professional level. I am committed to balancing both of these goals through hard work and perseverance, and I am excited to see where this path takes me.

    Hulede Collegiate Golf Scholarship
    1. Outside of golf, I participate in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a group of people that have greatly impacted my life. FCA has given me a place to mix my passion for sports with my faith, with my fellow athletes giving me a supportive environment where I can grow spiritually and athletically. Being a part of this group has taught me the importance of community and mentorship, which are values that I find useful in other aspects of my life. 2. Besides my involvement with FCA, I also enjoy teaching my younger sisters how to play golf. Being able to share what I know and my passion for the game with them makes me so happy. Getting the opportunity to watch them improve their skills and develop a love for golf just like I did reminds me of the joy competing in the sport has brought into my life. This sport that we get to enjoy together has given us a chance to strengthen our bond and allowed me to appreciate my family in a whole new way. 3. I am currently a sophomore studying pre-med biology in college. My decision to pursue this path started because of a devastating experience in my sophomore year of high school when I broke my collarbone. The road to recovery was difficult, but my orthopedic surgeon played an important role in my healing journey. Her expertise and compassion not only helped me recover physically but also gave me the mental support I needed during that difficult time. This experience inspired me to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery so that in the future I will be able to help others in the way I was. After graduating, I plan to give back to my community by teaching kids golf part-time while attending graduate school to become a surgeon. Teaching kids golf will allow me to help young kids foster a love for the game, just as I do with my sisters. I believe that golf can teach valuable life skills such as patience, discipline, and perseverance, which have helped me outside of the game. Simultaneously, my graduate studies will allow me to fulfill my dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon to be able to help children recover from injuries, both physically and mentally. My goal is to be a beacon of hope and a source of support and healing for young patients, just as my orthopedic surgeon was for me. 4. Receiving the Hulede Collegiate Golf Scholarship would impact my collegiate experience by helping alleviate the burden of tuition and fees, allowing me to focus more on my academic and athletic pursuits. This would help me to maintain a balance between my studies and my commitment to golf, allowing me to be able to excel in both areas. I would feel empowered to make the most of my college experience, both academically and athletically. With this scholarship, I am confident that I can achieve my goals and give back to my community in meaningful ways.
    Beyond The C.L.O.U.D Scholarship
Ever since I was in high school, I've wanted to go into STEM, and go into the medical field. But the moment that really cemented that want was when I had broken my collarbone during my sophomore year, and needed to see an orthopedic surgeon. I was so angry and hurt then, and felt like my world was ending. I was about to start soccer season, and just healing my collarbone to the point where I wouldn't need a sling was going to take me out for the whole season. But I had golf season right after, and wanted to be able to play then as well. But to heal, I had to work with my orthopedic surgeon. When I first met her, I was reluctant to work with her and was so close-minded, but she helped me feel better about my situation and understand I can't force my injury to heal quickly. I had to be patient with myself and wait to heal correctly, and she really showed me that and really cemented my decision to going into STEM in college and going on the route to go into the medical field and becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon. That is one of my aspirations as I grow older and begin college, along with wanting to become a professional golfer. These aspirations are why I feel as I'm deserving of this scholarship. I feel like I have big dreams, and I know I'm hardworking enough and have the perseverance to achieve these goals. Using the education I plan on going through, I want to use it to be able to help young athletes heal and get back to the standard of playing they used to be at before their injury. Whether big or small, any type of injury to an athlete, especially a young one, can be devastating to their emotional and mental health. But being the one to help them and get them to be able to understand and stay string throughout the healing process is what I want to be able to be for them. That is the main reason for wanting to do what I do, and that is why I believe I deserve this scholarship. Because I want to help people, especially young athletes, and this scholarship will help me with my finances and paying for college along with the scholarship I work hard for that I get from golf.
