    Learner Calculus Scholarship
I am currently taking calculus in High School and it is very important in STEM for all reasons. Calculus involves critical thinking, and finding multiple solutions that can be found from different methods. In the STEM industry, many positions include instances where you will have solve problems or analyze databases that will need that type of critical thinking that calculus teaches you to do. Not only in a mental way, but you are also taught problems and equations that could further improve your skills in databases, charts, programming and other difficult fields that will require that type of skill and demand. An example can be Management Information systems, the degree I am pursuing as of right now, involves the person in command to make decisions based upon calculations and probability to make critical decisions that could improve the company or work that they are in. Calculus can play a big role, as it teaches you how to think of various methods from the equations you have learned to solve those problems. Derivatives is a key to calculus, and you learn many different methods in that class on how to find one, and that could relate to STEM fields because of the various methods that are used to solve problems and have a god set of thought behind it to ensure that it is correct. STEM fields are high in demand because of the skills it takes to handle these positions. Which is why Calculus is such a difficult class, it challenges you to think outside the box and not only use the most recent lesson you learned, but to use everything to find a solution. Many STEM fields require that type of mindset, there will not always be a solution that is straight to the point. You will have to think and make critical decisions based upon the knowledge you know to make positive changes towards the team you are working for. It can range from small and simple mistakes to very problematic ones if you do not make careful decisions. Calculus teaches that because a simple mistake in finding a solution, can lead to the wrong thing and cause more problems. Calculus also teaches the algorithms of charts, which is a huge aspect in the STEM field. Without those charts, a lot can't be done without them, which is why it is such an important aspect to learn in calculus. Overall, Calculus teaches the skills needed for critical thinking and decision making in mathematical skills and other aspects of STEM that could benefit the future of the team you are working for. It teaches the principles of what skills are needed and is a very important topic to know about.
