Netflix and Scholarships!
Binge-watching is a great activity. No streaming service has more material than Netflix. There are various alternatives to pick from, including horror with Stranger Things, romance with XO Kitty, and violence with Squid Games. There are various alternatives available for people of all ages and families. It might be difficult to select just one, but "Mixtape" is one of my favorite Netflix originals that I keep watching again and over. It was released in December of 2021 and is a hidden treasure among Netflix's genres. Taking place in the last months of 1999 in Spokane, Washington. In the midst of it all, middle schooler Beverly Moody, a clever girl who is frequently harassed and a social outcast, lives with her grandmother Gail, who is worried about the impending Y2K and has been parenting Beverly since the death of her teen parents in a car accident when she was two years old. has not yet recovered from the loss of her daughter Kim (Beverly's mother), avoids Beverly's persistent queries about her, and is afraid of losing Beverly in the same way that she lost Kim. Beverly, however, discovers her parents' Walkman, which is hooked to a mixtape titled "Love Riot," while investigating her attic. As she tries to insert the cassette, it 'gets devoured' by the Walkman. So it cannot be played.
She then embarks on a journey to search for the songs and learn more about her parents. With the reluctant cooperation of antagonistic local record store owner Edward, alias Punk nickname "Anti", they discover the sequence of tracks in the mixtape, producing While looking, she gains experience (such as friendships) and problem-solving skills. She not only dives into her mother's background but also embarks on a transforming journey of self-discovery and understanding, culminating in a heartfelt reconciliation with her grandma, who reared her with love and care. "Mixtape" is a moving and evocative study of love, grief, and music's persistent capacity to unite not only nostalgia or old soul lovers from the twentieth century, but also newer generations. The film's premise is both touching and engaging, as Sarah's goal to put together her mother's musical legacy catalyzes her emotional growth and healing. The music is crucial to the film, including an intriguing and diverse collection of songs that deepen the story and create memories. The actors/actresses did an excellent job; I could sense their emotions and they just brought the character to life. The soundtrack was spectacular and among the greatest I'd ever heard. The Directors/Writers were able to show their passion for Classic Rock/Punk music, as James Gunn did in his work. Using music that meant a lot to them growing up, tying in with the narrative, and trippy tunes, and bringing these underappreciated songs that never charted in the United States to the attention of new viewers/generations. I am alternative/punk, and others do not understand me. When I see folks my age dressed similarly to me, I feel good about myself, and I recognize that some people know who the "quick" are. And I could identify with them, especially when Grandma didn't like how Bailey's mother dressed. After all, my parents don't like how I dress LOL, but they liked it and suggested it. To summarize, "Mixtape" is a moving and inspiring film that eloquently depicts the universal themes of family, identity, and music's significant effect on our lives.

In the intricate tapestry of my life, I've traversed a myriad of challenging experiences that have profoundly shaped my perspective and tested the bounds of my emotional resilience.
One of the most emotionally taxing chapters unfolded when a dear friend of mine was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma during our senior year. The mere mention of cancer conjures a whirlwind of emotions, but when it's someone you hold close to your heart, the turbulence is even more profound. Witnessing my friend's valiant battle against this relentless adversary was a rollercoaster of emotions.
The journey through cancer treatment brought forth a host of challenges, including the loss of hair, the erosion of their ability to walk, and the burdensome weight gain. These side effects were stark reminders of the relentless struggle they endured. Their changed appearance and diminished physical capabilities were heart-wrenching to witness, and the emotional toll it took on them was palpable. For me, it meant grappling with the stark reality that life could be so cruel.
Amid this storm, I found myself grappling with another emotional tempest, one I hadn't anticipated: betrayal by friends. Friendship is a sanctuary of trust, a place where vulnerability and authenticity should thrive. Yet, it was in this vulnerable time that I discovered some of my friends were not the pillars of support I had hoped for. Experiencing betrayal, deception, and mistreatment from those I had held dear was a gut-wrenching blow. The erosion of trust left scars that ran deep, fueling feelings of hurt, anger, and isolation.
My journey was further complicated by the labyrinth of racial and ethnic identity. I've often found myself straddling the fine line between different cultural identities, not fitting neatly into any predefined box. This position has exposed me to prejudice and exclusion from various groups, leading to a complex blend of emotions. It's a confusing journey, marked by identity crises and a persistent sense of not fully belonging.
Moreover, I've grappled with the isolation that stems from feeling disconnected from my cultural background. This sense of alienation can be all-encompassing, driving a wedge between me and my roots. Cultural identity is a deeply personal voyage, and I've had to grapple with feelings of judgment for not conforming to specific beliefs or cultural practices.
As I navigate this intricate web of experiences, it's become evident that I'm not impervious to the mental health challenges that accompany such trials. Witnessing my friend's relentless battle with cancer and grappling with the wounds of betrayal has undoubtedly taken its toll on my mental well-being. It's a path filled with emotional obstacles, and I've come to realize that seeking support from a therapist or counselor may be a vital step in processing these complex emotions and developing coping strategies.
In the grand tapestry of life, it's essential to remember that I'm not alone in facing these challenges. There are people and resources available to guide me through these turbulent waters. Prioritizing my mental health and well-being is paramount, as these experiences have the potential to leave enduring imprints on my soul.
In the grand symphony of life, we find ourselves in a unique era, one that has been dubbed the "Friend Depression." It's a time when the very notion of friendship seems to be shifting, and I've learned to embrace the wisdom of looking out for myself amidst this transformation. As I continue to navigate the complex landscape of human relationships and personal identity, I hold onto the belief that resilience and self-care will guide me through the labyrinthine passages of existence.

The Transformative Power of Education: A Path to Personal Growth, Empowerment, and Positive Change
Education is undeniably one of the most potent tools humanity possesses for individual growth and societal progress. It serves as a beacon of hope, a ladder out of poverty, and a bridge to a brighter future. For me, education is not merely a means to acquire knowledge; it is a source of empowerment and personal development, and the key to contributing positively to the world.
First and foremost, education is crucial because it provides the opportunity for personal growth. It equips individuals with knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities that help them evolve as well-rounded human beings. Through education, I have learned to explore my interests, cultivate my talents, and nurture my intellectual curiosity. It has taught me to question, to seek answers, and to adapt to an ever-changing world. Education has not only expanded my horizons but has also empowered me to face life's challenges with confidence and resilience.
Education is a formidable weapon against poverty. It has the power to break the cycle of generational poverty by offering individuals the skills and knowledge needed to secure better job opportunities and financial stability. Growing up in a modest background, I have witnessed the transformative impact of education firsthand. It has allowed me to dream beyond my circumstances, opening doors that would otherwise have remained firmly shut. Through education, I have gained access to opportunities that have empowered me to create a better life for myself and my family. It has given me the tools to navigate a competitive job market, thus enabling me to build a stable and secure future.
Furthermore, education is not just a personal endeavor; it is a collective responsibility to pass on knowledge and wisdom to others. The knowledge gained through education has a ripple effect, impacting not only the individual but also their community and society at large. We must share our knowledge, skills, and experiences with others, thereby contributing to the betterment of the world. Education has instilled in me a sense of responsibility to give back, to mentor and guide those who may not have had the same opportunities. Through education, we can foster connections and collaboration, working together to address the world's most pressing issues, from poverty and inequality to environmental sustainability and social justice.
In conclusion, education is not merely a means to an end but a lifelong journey of growth, empowerment, and positive change. It has brought immense value to my life by providing the tools to escape poverty, fostering personal development, and inspiring a commitment to making the world a better place. Education is a beacon of hope, and it is up to each of us to harness its transformative power, both for our benefit and for the betterment of society as a whole. As we continue to learn, grow, and share our knowledge, we can collectively build a brighter and more equitable future for all.
Eras Tour Farewell Fan Scholarship
Taylor Swift's music, especially during the Eras Tour, has played a significant role in helping me discover and understand something new about myself. Just two months ago, I had never really listened to Taylor Swift's music, even though I was aware of who she was. At that time, I was primarily a lifelong collector of 20th-century vinyl records, and my musical preferences were firmly rooted in that era.
It all began when I walked into my local record store and came across a used copy of Taylor Swift's album "Red." What caught my attention was the album cover, where Taylor's outfit gave off a European detective vibe. Intrigued by this, I decided to delve into her music to see what all the passion and excitement were about, especially considering the positive media attention surrounding her sold-out Eras Tour.
I remember the moment vividly. I went back home, poured myself a glass of Cherry Fanta, and placed the needle on the first song of the album, which happened to be "All Too Well." As the song played, something incredible happened. Halfway through, my jaw dropped, and tears welled up in my eyes. I was deeply moved by the emotional depth and relatability of the lyrics. It was as if Taylor Swift had captured the essence of a failed relationship with astonishing clarity and vulnerability.
As I continued to explore her music, I learned that Taylor had written this masterpiece when she was just around 21 years old. This realization made me appreciate her talent even more. I became a Swiftie, fully embracing her music and becoming a part of her dedicated fanbase.
One significant change that I've experienced since discovering Taylor Swift's music is that I've reached an age where I no longer care about others' opinions of my musical tastes. I've become more confident in sharing my passion for her music with others and enthusiastically encouraging them to give it a listen. And many have taken me up on that offer, finding their own connection to her songs.
In summary, Taylor Swift's music, particularly during the Eras Tour, has helped me discover a newfound passion for her artistry and a deeper appreciation for the emotional power of music. It has also given me the confidence to embrace my musical preferences and share my enthusiasm with others. Taylor Swift's music has truly been a transformative force in my life, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to connect with her work on such a personal level.
Top of the Mountain Memorial Scholarship
As an undergraduate student majoring in Business at Loyola Marymount University, I have set my sights on a path that extends beyond the horizon of academia. My ambitions include transferring to the University of Southern California (USC) for my undergraduate studies and eventually pursuing graduate studies at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Born and raised in the vibrant and diverse city of Los Angeles, I consider myself a true Angeleno, deeply connected to the pulse of this dynamic metropolis.
Throughout my academic journey and life in Los Angeles, I have keenly observed the devastating effects of environmental change that have afflicted our planet. Witnessing the consequences of climate change, such as prolonged droughts and diminishing water resources, compelled me to take action. I embarked on a mission to develop a computer program that could address a fundamental aspect of environmental sustainability: efficient water usage for plant care.
My innovative solution comes in the form of a computer program integrated into a user-friendly app. This app has the capability to measure soil moisture levels with precision. Moreover, it can be interconnected with an electric faucet or an automated pipe system to provide water to plants when necessary. This novel approach to plant care not only conserves water but also fosters healthy plant growth. My vision is to contribute to a greener and more sustainable world by funding and promoting my app, which I have aptly named "Plant."
While there are several plant watering apps available for both iOS and Android devices, my app stands out by offering a unique feature: a system that enables users to set designated watering schedules for their plants. This feature not only simplifies the plant care process but also ensures that plants receive the right amount of water at the right time, thereby optimizing their well-being. Unlike existing apps, my app combines technology, environmental consciousness, and user convenience to revolutionize the way we care for our plants.
As I strive to climb the metaphorical mountain of success and innovation, I am reminded of the lyrics from the Alternative Rock Band Pixies' song, "All I Can Think Now": "I try to think about tomorrow But I always think about the past About the things that didn't last
If I could go to the beginning Then for sure I would be another way Make it better for today". This implies that one can't change the past, however, one can look forward to the future and fix these mistakes.

As someone who understands the challenges faced by students in low-income areas, I have created a non-profit organization called Career Life that aims to address these challenges. Throughout school, students are taught to work on assignments and to do well academically, especially since a college degree has become increasingly necessary to succeed in today's world. However, economic problems often prevent students from achieving academic success, and this can be a significant barrier to entry for many students who are trying to pursue their dreams.
That is why I propose the creation of a Non-Profit Organization to combat this called “Career Life”. Career Life seeks to change this by providing high school students with access to career industry specialists who volunteer their time to mentor students in their ideal field. By pairing a student with an industry specialist, Career Life aims to inspire and motivate students to pursue their dreams and overcome any obstacles that may stand in their way.
For example, a student interested in becoming a lawyer would be paired with a lawyer from a law firm. Together, they would have meaningful conversations about the student's upbringing, experiences, and the required pathways to pursue their chosen occupation. This would give the student a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in their chosen field and make connections, while also providing the industry specialist with a sense of purpose and a connection to the life of a teenager.
Career Life would also provide additional resources and support services to students, such as career workshops, college application assistance, and financial aid counseling. These resources would ensure that students have the necessary tools and resources to succeed, regardless of their economic situation.
The need for Career Life is evident in the struggles faced by many students in low-income areas, where opportunities are scarce and support systems are often lacking. By providing mentorship and resources, Career Life would not only help students achieve their dreams but also inspire and motivate them to give back to their communities.
The ambition behind Career Life is to create a sustainable and impactful program that empowers students to reach their full potential. With the right funding and resources, Career Life could expand to reach more students and provide even more support services. By investing in the education and future of our youth, we can create a brighter and more equitable future for all.
I was inspired to create Career Life by my work volunteering at Sage and Seekers, an organization founded in 2019 by Elly Katz who lives in Boston. Sage and Seekers seek to address concerns for two generations at once by providing both students and seniors with an alternative to isolation: a sense of purpose and a connection to the larger picture of society and the world. Sage and Seekers fill a gap in local schools, where teachers and administrators focus on A-G requirements and devote little time to promoting communication skills and other foundations of social-emotional learning.
In conclusion, Career Life seeks to inspire and motivate students in low-income areas to pursue their dreams and overcome any obstacles that may stand in their way. The need for Career Life is evident in the struggles faced by many students in low-income areas, and the ambition behind Career Life is to create a sustainable and impactful program that empowers students to reach their full potential. With the right funding and resources, Career Life could expand to reach more students and provide even more support services, ultimately creating a brighter future for all.

Title: Embracing Ambition, Drive, and Passion: A Slytherin's Journey
In the enchanting world of Hogwarts, where magic is real and adventures are aplenty, I have always envisioned myself as a proud member of Slytherin House. While Slytherin is often misunderstood, it is a house that values ambition, drive, and passion above all else, and I believe I am the perfect fit for this cunning and resourceful house.
Ambition courses through my veins like the very magic that defines the wizarding world. From a young age, I have set my sights on achieving great things, not for the sake of recognition and fame, but because I am determined to make a positive impact on the world. Slytherins are known for their unwavering ambition, and I am no exception. I have always been the type of person who sets ambitious goals and works tirelessly to achieve them. From obtaning President at various clubs,Producing videos on my channel, and envisioning a better life for myself. Whether it's excelling academically, pursuing my passion for writing, or striving for leadership roles, I approach every endeavor with a fierce determination to succeed.
Drive is another quality that defines me as a Slytherin. In the face of challenges and adversity, I do not falter; I thrive. Slytherins are known for their resilience and their ability to adapt to any situation. When faced with obstacles, I don't see them as roadblocks but as opportunities to grow and learn. In 12th grade, my best friend was diagnosed with Cancer, I was devestated and didn't know who to turn to for help healing. Most of my friends graduated, others were depressed, and some were rude to me. Made fun of my friends condition and assulted me. I knew i needed to change my outlook. i engaged in clubs, made more friends, and started becoming more positive about myself. This drive has fueled my academic achievements, my commitment to community service, and my pursuit of personal growth.
Passion is the lifeblood of my existence. In Slytherin House, passion is not just encouraged; it is celebrated. I am deeply passionate about the causes and activities that matter most to me. Whether it's my love for literature and storytelling, my dedication to environmental sustainability, or my advocacy for social justice, I approach these passions with unwavering enthusiasm. These traits have guided me on my journey of self-discovery and personal growth. I am determined to leave a lasting impact on the world, not for personal glory, but to make it a better place for all. Just as Slytherin House has produced some of the most formidable witches and wizards in history, I am committed to using my ambition, drive, and passion to achieve greatness and leave a positive mark on the magical and non-magical realms alike.
In the words of Salazar Slytherin himself, "Slytherin will help you on your way to greatness." It is with this belief that I embrace the qualities of my chosen house and look forward to continuing my magical journey at Hogwarts, where ambition, drive, and passion are not just celebrated but are the keys to unlocking a world of endless possibilities.

By pairing students with professionals in their desired fields, Career Life aims to ignite passion, foster understanding, and dismantle barriers to entry, ultimately contributing to a more accessible and affordable mental health care system.
My inspiration for Career Life stems from my experience volunteering at Sage and Seekers, an organization founded by Elly Katz in 2019. Sage and Seekers, based in Boston, addresses the isolation felt by students and seniors alike, bridging generations and promoting essential social-emotional skills. Similarly, Career Life aims to bridge gaps—this time, between aspirations and realities, dreams and resources.
In conclusion, Career Life stands as a beacon of hope, designed to empower students in low-income areas to surmount obstacles and follow their aspirations. Through mentorship, support, and opportunity, Career Life aims to shape a brighter future for all.

Title: Faith in Ambition: Overcoming Challenges, Inspiring Growth
In a world where spirituality and entrepreneurship are frequently intertwined, my experience stands out as a testament to the power of persistence and personal growth. While my faith may not be traditional, my belief in hard effort, the serendipity of reality, and the strength inside us has guided me through adversity and pushed me to pursue success as an aspiring entrepreneur.
My journey has been paved with obstacles that have only served to feed my ambition. Growing up with significant food limitations due to gluten, dairy, and soy allergies taught me the importance of adaptation and tenacity. These obstacles not only had an impact on my physical well-being, but they also underlined my distinction among my contemporaries. As I handled these challenges, my self-reliance and the reality of the circumstance showed me that success comes from unshakable determination and accepting life's unforeseen twists and turns.
My path was altered when I was diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder. Navigating social interactions became a struggle for me, but with the help of play therapy and educational programs, I emerged stronger, more resilient, and ready to face new obstacles. A watershed event occurred when I became leadership of the M.E.S.A. class, a platform that originally felt restrictive. Like Thanos, I handled this chance deliberately, calculating and implementing ways to revitalize the class's energy. I encouraged peers to cooperate, fundraise, and spark passion by immersing myself in coding skills and employing my leadership. This endeavor's success reinforced my opinion that with persistence, desire, and trust in one's talents, any impediment can be converted into a stepping stone toward achievement.
Witnessing a beloved friend's fight with Hodgkin's illness provided the most profound lesson in faith and resilience. Amid despair and impotence, I found the courage to seek assistance. By confiding in my support network and professionals, I discovered that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, but rather of resilience. This event taught me the value of community and the necessity of sharing burdens, encouraging me to help others.
My faith, which is based on realism and self-determination, fits in well with the selection criteria of ambition, need, and the most daring pursuit of one's dreams. My journey, marked by an unwavering resolve to overcome obstacles and effectively influence my community, exemplifies how my religion has pushed me toward business. My experiences have taught me that with the appropriate perspective, even the most difficult challenges can be turned into chances for growth and achievement. As I enter the corporate world, equipped with my unique viewpoint and unyielding determination, I am positioned to make a significant difference while adhering to moral ideals and acting with integrity.
To summarize, my faith may seem unusual, but it is based on the concept that success comes through hard effort, adaptation, and tenacity in the face of adversity. My path from allergies and autism to leading a class project and helping a friend through sickness exemplifies my drive, ingenuity, and dedication to personal and social progress. I am prepared to face the challenges of the entrepreneurial world, certain that my religion, while unique, will enable me to succeed while remaining loyal to my convictions.
DRIVE an IMPACT Today Scholarship
Growing up, I encountered a set of challenges that set me apart from most of my peers. Diagnosed with allergies to gluten, dairy, and soy, I faced dietary restrictions that made meal choices a constant concern. These restrictions not only impacted my physical health but also created a sense of being different. As I grew older, my challenges expanded as I was diagnosed with three out of the five stages of autism spectrum disorder. Connecting with peers became a struggle due to my diagnosis. However, my parents enrolled me in play therapy, which played a pivotal role in developing my social skills. Seeking further growth, I participated in a four-month program at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. In the face of these challenges, my determination has always driven me to give back to my community.
Another time; My junior year introduced me to the M.E.S.A. class, an environment where I initially felt stifled. However, time led to familiarity, and the class's unique emphasis on innovative coding solutions for STEM competitions captured my enthusiasm for education. I eagerly awaited each new year, but my excitement was dampened as the class faced disorganization upon resuming this year. Recognizing the danger of its decline, I stepped into a leadership role. I embraced the challenge, akin to Thanos "The Mad Titan," and took charge. My approach was methodical—I immersed myself in M.E.S.A.'s history, gained proficiency in Arduino and Python coding, and deepened my understanding by participating in various M.E.S.A. events. As a leader, I united my peers to collaborate on advertising, pitching presentations, and raising funds for a class trip to Disneyland. Our efforts yielded remarkable outcomes, with increased engagement from new members. I now provide support and presentations to guide them on their journey in STEM. I plan to eventually pass the leadership torch to a successor, ensuring the continuity of M.E.S.A.'s legacy.
Lastly, A deeply challenging experience was watching my close friend, Brent Madridejo, battle Hodgkin's disease. Struggling with feelings of powerlessness and guilt, my academic performance suffered, and I was consumed by sadness. However, observing Brent find joy in life's small moments inspired me to seek help. I confided in my parents and my school, which led to adjustments in my schedule and regular appointments with a therapist. My grades rebounded, and I regained my sense of purpose by engaging in clubs and creating a support network for myself.
This experience reinforced the importance of accepting help and sharing struggles with others. I learned that true strength lies in seeking assistance when needed, rather than shouldering burdens alone. I understood that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness but a testament to resilience. As I emerge from this challenging phase, I recognize the progress I've made and am determined to turn my dreams into reality. Overcoming this adversity has equipped me with the confidence and drive to face future challenges head-on, knowing that seeking support and embracing vulnerability is a pathway to growth.
In summary, my journey has been shaped by the ambition to overcome adversity and the drive to make a positive impact. From battling allergies and autism to taking charge in the M.E.S.A. class and supporting a friend through illness, I have demonstrated resilience, resourcefulness, and a commitment to personal growth and community betterment. These experiences reflect my determination to thrive, and they align seamlessly with the selection criteria of ambition, drive, and the pursuit of higher education.

I enrolled in the USC M.E.S.A.(Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and Achievement) class during my junior year, initially feeling confined by its structure. However, over time, I found my comfort within its environment. The class's unique ability to infuse the STEM fields with excitement through innovative coding solutions for competitions ignited my passion for education even further. Anticipation for the upcoming year filled me, but upon returning to school, I noticed that the class had lost its essential components. The absence of these foundational aspects led to disarray. My peers grew restless, and the once-thriving class turned chaotic. Many signed up only to sneak away once attendance was taken, signaling a power struggle. Recognizing the impending decline, I waited for someone to step up and lead, but each day passed without a leader emerging. It was then that I was determined, like Thanos "The Mad Titan," to take charge. I immediately delved into action. I immersed myself in researching M.E.S.A.'s history, self-taught Arduino and Python coding, and participated in numerous M.E.S.A. events to refresh my knowledge for promoting the club. As a leader, I garnered support from my peers, leading us to collaborate on advertising, presentations, and fundraising efforts, including raising funds for a recruiting trip to Disneyland. Our efforts have yielded impressive results, with a surge in new members. I offer guidance and presentations to aid them on their journey to fuel their passion for STEM. My ultimate goal is to transition leadership to a worthy successor, ensuring the continuation of M.E.S.A.'s legacy.
Another opportunity to embody selflessness and contribute to others presented itself at the PS Science In-Person Camp at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California. Serving as a mentor, I extended my responsibilities beyond project assistance. I stepped into a teaching role when needed, ensuring students were supported during breaks. My commitment was unwavering, dedicated to helping each student thrive.
Throughout the camp, I engaged in diverse activities with fellow students. From coding with microbots to constructing toy cars and bridges using everyday materials, we delved into hands-on projects. We also explored science intricacies through activities like dissecting owl feces and cow eyes. While honing leadership skills, I built lasting friendships with fellow mentors who shared my passion for making a difference.
The most fulfilling aspect of my mentorship was witnessing students' growth. I formed strong bonds with each student, taking immense pride in their progress as they explored and experimented with science. To show appreciation for their dedication, my family and I donated popsicles, a small gesture to celebrate their hard work.
When asked about recommending this community service project to others, my answer is a resounding "Yes." While I cherish each student's growth, I acknowledge the challenges the camp presents to both teachers and mentors. Additional support would be invaluable. Nevertheless, the camp offers an incredible opportunity to contribute to a science program that enriches young minds, irrespective of their scientific background or commitment level. It fosters an environment that ignites excitement for science and fosters a passion for learning, a program initiated by a non-profit institution founded at Crossroads School.
In conclusion, my leadership qualities encompass ambition, determination, and impact. Rescuing a faltering program through research, skill acquisition, and strategic planning, I demonstrated initiative and drive. Similarly, my mentorship at the science camp showcased my commitment, adaptability, and dedication to fostering growth. These experiences underscore my ability to lead, inspire, and drive positive change, aligning seamlessly with the values of this scholarship.
Disney Super Fan Scholarship
When the term "Disney" crosses your mind, what images strike? Is it a beloved movie? The enchantment of Disney Channel? The allure of Disney resorts? Latest news from ABC? Disney, a sprawling American multinational media and entertainment conglomerate, encompasses an impressive array of entities, including Pixar, National Geographic, Searchlights Pictures, Lucasfilm, and Marvel. Each facet of Disney's diverse portfolio has woven itself into my childhood from its inception, yet it was the creator behind this media empire who truly captured my devotion – the one and only, Walt Disney.
I am motivated by the aspiration to replicate the joy and success Walt brought to the world. In numerous respects, I find parallels between my upbringing and Walt's. Born as Walter Elias Disney, Walt emerged into a nurturing family environment with a warm and compassionate mother, counterbalanced by a stern and quick-tempered father. Similarly, I reside in the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles, raised by a kind mother and an imposing father. Walt's journey away from his childhood abode echoes my departure from my early dwelling. He embarked on a constant migration – from Chicago to Marceline, Missouri, to Kansas City, and back to Chicago – a sequence that compelled him to navigate life's transitions and reestablish friendships. My academic trajectory also involved multiple shifts – three changes of preschool, numerous shifts in therapists, three elementary schools, and even two instances each of middle and high schools. Like Walt, I endeavored to assimilate within my peer groups by embracing creativity, often manifesting in activities like my portrayal of Cesar Chavez for a Wax Museum project, which encouraged my classmates' participation. Similarly, Walt donned the persona of Abraham Lincoln, reciting the Gettysburg Address for his classmates.
As Walt matured into adulthood, his desire to forge his path apart from his father's shadow grew resolute. This venture led him to Hollywood, where he established Disney Brothers Studios (later christened Walt Disney Studios). Here, he assembled a team of animators to create iconic characters such as Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. This, of course, culminated in his groundbreaking achievement – the creation of the world's first feature-length animated film, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Walt continued to craft timeless fairy tale adaptations – classics like "Bambi," "Pinocchio," and "Fantasia." He ventured to unite film and amusement park experiences in an unprecedented way, thus birthing Disneyland – a realm where families, not just children, could partake in shared joy. This idea expanded further with his vision for EPCOT in Florida, an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. In the 1960s, Walt's plan for EPCOT embraced a model town devoid of crime, slums, or traffic, an ambitious endeavor spanning an area twice the size of Manhattan.
However, like all legendary figures, Walt Disney's life journey came to an end. Yet, his story lives on. He aspired not solely to achieve success but also to realize his dream of spreading happiness through the realm of show business. His legacy paved the way for Disney's ascent as a global conglomerate. It's important to acknowledge his missteps, such as his treatment of loyal animator Ub Iwerks, fostering a hostile work environment, and the questionable film "Song of the South." Imperfections, though, are inherent to human nature. When I aspire to emulate Walt Disney, I don't intend to replicate his life verbatim. There's only one Walt Disney in the world, irreplaceable and unique. I anticipate making my own mistakes along the journey. By melding his childlike wonder with astute business acumen, I hope to carve my distinctive path, thus introducing myself to the world as Brandon Adan Molina.
Aspiring Musician Scholarship
Music has been a guiding influence in shaping my perspective on the world and the people around me. It has been my method of expressing myself, making relationships, and entertaining others. Above all, it has enabled me to uncover my most powerful asset: my voice.
As a shy and introverted individual, I often struggled to connect with my peers during my childhood years. The exclusive attitudes of my peers left me feeling lonely and isolated, yearning to find a place where I could truly belong. Music became my beacon of hope in this tumultuous sea of social uncertainty. Recognizing that music is something that unites people across all boundaries, I decided to pursue it as a means to bridge the gap between me and my peers.
Enrolling in the Star After-School Rock Star Program changed my life. While I had intended to learn to play an instrument, fate had other plans. Because no one else in the band wanted to be the main vocalist, the attention was cast on me. Despite my anxieties and fear, I chose to perform Linkin Park's "In the End." Something spectacular happened as I screamed out the lines with passion and conviction. My voice connected with the others, capturing them and forming a friendship based on a common love of music.
This incident taught me the importance of making my own decisions. Acceptance and camaraderie, which I had desperately sought for so long, came to me through my voice. That day, I earned appreciation and admiration not just for my singing ability, but also for having the bravery to accept my talent and share it with others. Music enabled me to break free from the chains of self-doubt and discover my place in the world.
Even though I no longer pursue singing as a career, my voice continues to be an instrument of inspiration. I have since used it to express my ideas and thoughts through public speaking, motivating and touching the hearts of others. Music has taught me the importance of authenticity and vulnerability, as it was through embracing these qualities that I found my voice and forged meaningful connections with people.
Music is more than just beats, lyrics, and melodies; it is a powerful force that unites people regardless of their backgrounds or differences. It has taught me that creativity and enthusiasm are not just important in music but can form a person's whole life. Music has instilled in me a profound passion for the arts and pushed me to experiment with many types of creation.
In conclusion, music has shaped my view of the world by allowing me to discover my inner strength, build connections with others, and entertain and inspire people. It has given me the confidence to express myself and find my unique voice, which has led me to connect with others on a profound level. I am incredibly grateful for the Aspiring Musician Scholarship, as it will help me continue my artistic journey and make a positive impact on the lives of others through music. Thank you for considering my application.
WCEJ Thornton Foundation Music & Art Scholarship
Dear Scholarship Committee,
My name is Brandon Adan Molina. I am a third-generation Hispanic American who overcame a near-cancer diagnosis and autism. I am a fighter and not afraid to voice my opinion.
I have always been passionate about art. But creating it has been a way to cope with the negativities of the world. In elementary school, I painted canvases of paint slashed as if a Big Bang had occurred and created a whole new galaxy. Clay structures rose out of the ground. Yet, I felt incomplete. I felt my art objects showed my voice but didn't speak for my opinions.
It wasn't until middle school that I found my voice through storytelling. I dedicated myself to writing screenplays and adapting them into short films. Starting with stop-motion, I used toys (mostly Lego minifigures) to bring my stories to life. Then, in high school, I enlisted my peers and classmates to help me bring my visions to the screen.
My vision in crafting films is as if playing God. I direct I am the cinematographer, and I even act in my films at times. I love bringing my audience away from their everyday lifestyle and sucked into the world where the protagonist's want isn't their need and how they can strive to meet these goals.
Just recently, I have gained an appreciation for my love of art since elementary school but have grown. Instead of canvas or object painting, I have grown to adapt my skills to a computer setting. Using Photoleap, Photo Pea, and Photoshop to create graphic design. From advertisement signs to creative background art pieces of animals, I have built up my portfolio over the years into websites, logo drawings, and character designs. Teaching me the necessities of drawing, combining, transforming, aligning, swatches, and 3D illustrations. These works, as my filmmaking, aim to tell a story. A message of inspiration, fun, or of civil rights.
I believe that I am a strong candidate for this scholarship because I am passionate about art, I am a fighter, and I am creative. I am also a hard worker and I am dedicated to my education. I believe that this scholarship would allow me to continue my education and pursue my dreams of becoming a filmmaker and artist.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Brandon Adan Molina
Rev. and Mrs. E B Dunbar Scholarship
Growing up, I faced a unique challenge that not many children my age faced. I was diagnosed with food allergies to gluten, dairy, and soy. These allergies made it difficult for me to obtain the proper diet that I needed. I had to be very careful about what I ate, and this made me feel different from my peers.
As I got older, I was diagnosed with three out of the five stages of autism spectrum disorder. This made it even harder for me to connect with my peers. However, my parents enrolled me in play therapy, which helped me develop my social skills. I also attended a world-renowned four-month program at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. This program helped me develop the skills that I needed to thrive in a social environment both academically and socially.
Despite my challenges, I have always been determined to give back to my community. I find that I fit in better with older generations instead of Gen Z. This is why I spend my time with and bond with those who are socially isolated. I have created clubs such as Metal Punk, Science, Animation, and Academic Decathlon. These clubs provide a place for "Maverick" students to enjoy themselves and connect.
You see, I live in the West Adams District of Los Angeles, an area that has been going through gentrification over the past five years. However, there hasn't been anything catered to the children demographic. As someone with a younger brother, I have noticed that we tend to have to drive out of the area to neighboring districts like Venice or Santa Monica
This is why I believe that opening a Children's Indoor Amusement Center would be a valuable business opportunity. I have searched the area and found that there are no indoor play places with bouncers and obstacle courses for younger children, nor are there any modern arcade centers like Dave & Busters for older children and teenagers. Therefore, I propose creating Hoppers. Hoppers would be an ideal destination for families with children of all ages, providing a fun and safe environment for children to play while offering a much-needed entertainment option for families in the area. The name Hoppers, with its kangaroo mascot, would appeal to children and make the center instantly recognizable.
In addition, there would be a modern arcade area with a variety of games that visitors could play with the purchase of a card. This would provide a fun and exciting alternative to traditional video game consoles. Hoppers will create employment opportunities for the local community. The center would require staff to operate and maintain the equipment, and it would also need to be marketed and promoted to the local community. Thank You.

Honoring a Legacy of Selflessness: My Journey at PS Science In-Person Camp
From reading about Michael Rudometkin. I can see his legacy of selflessness and community service has left an indelible mark on countless lives. As a current student deeply involved in my community, I found the perfect opportunity to embody selflessness and contribute to the betterment of others at the PS Science In-Person Camp. Held at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica, California, this program provided me with an avenue to serve and inspire young minds over the summer and continues to be part of my life.
As a mentor at the camp, my responsibilities extended beyond merely assisting students with their projects. I willingly took on the role of an additional teacher when needed and spent lunchtime ensuring that students felt supported while the instructor, Mr. Alex, took a break. My commitment was to help every student succeed and not let anyone fall behind.
Throughout the camp, I had the pleasure of engaging with fellow students in various exciting activities. We delved into the world of coding using micro bits, built toy cars, and embarked on the challenge of constructing sturdy bridges from packs of pasta, hot glue, and tape, withstanding the weight of five pounds of sugar. The camp also provided the opportunity to explore the intricacies of science through dissecting owl feces and cow eyes. In addition to honing my leadership skills, I developed lasting friendships with other mentors who shared the same passion for making a difference.
The most rewarding aspect of my experience was witnessing the growth of the students under my mentorship. I grew deeply attached to every single student and took immense pride in their progress as they socialized, experimented, and embraced the wonders of science. In appreciation of their dedication, my family and I donated popsicles for the whole class, a small gesture to celebrate their hard work and determination.
When asked if I would recommend this community service project to other students, my answer is an unequivocal "Most definitely." While I love all the students, I acknowledge that the camp can be challenging for both the teachers and the seven mentors. Additional support would be beneficial in the future. Nonetheless, it remains an amazing opportunity to give back to a science program dedicated to enriching young minds, regardless of their scientific knowledge or dedication. It's a chance for students to learn, see, think, and do in an environment that fosters excitement for science, a program initiated by a non-profit institution founded at Crossroads School.
In conclusion, my involvement at the PS Science In-Person Camp exemplifies my commitment to selflessness and community service. This experience has enriched my life, taught me valuable lessons, and reaffirmed my dedication to helping others and making the world a better place, just as Michael Rudometkin did. As I carry his legacy forward, I am grateful for the opportunity to embody his principles and continue the spirit of selflessness in my journey of making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Bright Lights Scholarship
My ideal future self would be a very successful executive in the entertainment, government, or technology industries, beginning as an industrial production manager and rising through the ranks to become a top-level advertising and marketing manager before becoming CEO or founder of my own entrepreneur business. You see, I live in the West Adams District of Los Angeles, an area that has been going through gentrification over the past five years. However, there hasn't been anything catered to the children demographic. As someone with a younger brother, I have noticed that we tend to have to drive out of the area to neighboring districts like Venice, Santa Monica, El Segundo, and Torrance to find suitable entertainment options for children.
This is why I believe that opening a Children's Indoor Amusement Center would be a valuable business opportunity. I have searched the area and found that there are no indoor play places with bouncers and obstacle courses for younger children, nor are there any modern arcade centers like Dave & Busters for older children and teenagers. The name Hoppers, with its kangaroo mascot, would appeal to children and make the center instantly recognizable.
The center would be themed around the Australia Open Plains, providing a unique and exciting environment for children to explore. It would feature inflatable slides and obstacle courses allowing children to let off steam and have fun in a safe and controlled environment. In addition, there would be a modern arcade area with a variety of games that visitors could play with the purchase of a card. This would provide a fun and exciting alternative to traditional video game consoles. Hoppers would not only provide a much-needed entertainment option, but it would also create employment opportunities for the local community. The center would require staff to operate and maintain the equipment, and it would also need to be marketed and promoted to the local community.
My education would be provided through academic institutions. I received an Associate Degree in Management and Leadership from Loyola Marymount University, a Bachelor's Degree from UCLA, and a Master's Degree from an Ivy League university. However, desire, passion, and tenacity will propel me toward my ideal future self.
This scholarship award is critical for me as it would help cover a significant portion of my tuition. The total cost of attendance for the 2023-2024 school year at Loyola Marymount University is $78,590, including tuition, fees, housing/food, transportation expenses, book/supplies, personal expenses, and loan expenses. Funding higher education is a struggle. I'm currently paying for my education through various means, such as FAFSA and grants, including the Cal Grant and Loyola Marymount Grant. Additionally, I received a scholarship for early decision admission to Loyola Marymount. I'm also looking into work-study options, writing applications for essay scholarships, and avoiding subsidized loans and institutional loans. I believe that this scholarship would allow me to continue my education and pursue my dreams of becoming a Business Manager or Entrepreneur.

To develop such a business, I would need to conduct market research to determine the potential demand for an indoor amusement center in the area. This would involve surveys and interviews with families in the community. I would also need to research the costs involved in setting up and running the business, including equipment, staff, marketing, and rent. Once I have a clear understanding of the market demand and the costs involved, I would need to secure financing for the business. This could involve applying for loans from banks or seeking out investors interested in funding a new and innovative business idea. The next step would be to find a suitable location for Hoppers. The location would need to be easily accessible to families in the community, with ample parking and enough space to accommodate the indoor play areas and arcade section.
Once I have secured financing and a location, I would begin hiring staff to operate and maintain the center. I would also work with designers and contractors to create the unique and exciting Australia Open Plains theme and to ensure that all equipment is up to safety standards. Finally, I would launch a marketing campaign to promote Hoppers to families in the West Adams District. This would involve social media, local advertising, and promotions to create awareness of the new center.
In conclusion, Hoppers, the Children's Indoor Amusement Center, would be a valuable addition to the West Adams District. It would provide a safe and fun environment for children to play, as well as offer a much-needed entertainment option for families in the area. With its unique theme and wide range of activities, Hoppers would be an ideal destination for families with children of all ages for years to come.
CEW IV Foundation Scholarship Program
Bridging the Divide: Fostering Equity and Empowerment
In today's world, it is evident that society as a whole requires transformation to rectify deep-rooted inequalities that have persistently plagued underrepresented individuals. The journey towards a more equitable society necessitates an acknowledgment of the socioeconomic disparities that have existed for centuries. While achieving absolute equality might be an unattainable goal, it is our collective responsibility to strive for fairness, justice, and opportunities for those who have been historically marginalized.
Firstly, we must recognize that BIPOC students continue to face numerous obstacles when accessing higher education. This leads to a significant degree attainment gap, depriving individuals of communities of color of the opportunity to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential. Additionally, the lack of representation in advanced fields perpetuates a cycle of limited opportunities and reinforces the existing socioeconomic divide. These challenges, compounded by financial constraints, widen the wealth gap between marginalized communities and their more privileged counterparts.
To address these systemic issues, it is crucial to prioritize the empowerment of minority students. This scholarship catalyzes change, providing deserving individuals with the resources and support they need to overcome barriers and pursue higher education. By removing financial burdens, we are enabling talented and ambitious BIPOC high school seniors and undergraduate students to realize their academic aspirations, irrespective of their economic circumstances.
To build a more inclusive and equitable society, we must also recognize the need for systemic change. This change requires collective action from leaders across all sectors. Governments, educational institutions, and corporations need to acknowledge their roles in perpetuating inequality and actively work toward dismantling these barriers. By allocating taxpayer dollars towards educational initiatives that support underrepresented students, we can create a more level playing field and provide equal opportunities for all.
Furthermore, it is essential for those who have benefited from privilege and amassed wealth to contribute towards leveling the playing field. Pledges from the wealthy to donate a modest percentage, such as the suggested 5%, can make a substantial impact on funding scholarships and programs that empower underrepresented students. By directing these donations towards initiatives that focus on education, we can break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and create a more just society.
In conclusion, creating a more equal society necessitates a transformative approach to address the challenges faced by underrepresented individuals, particularly BIPOC students. By prioritizing their empowerment through initiatives like this scholarship, we can bridge the degree attainment gap, foster representation in advanced fields, and narrow the wealth divide. However, it is crucial to recognize that such changes cannot be achieved in isolation. Societal transformation requires collaboration and commitment from leaders, institutions, and individuals alike. By joining forces, we can pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future, where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to society's progress.
Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Title: Ascending Through Adversity: My Journey with Mental Health
When I look in the mirror, I see a reflection of resilience and growth. From a young age, I have cultivated strength in the face of challenges. High school was an odd mix of experiences, but it was a defining moment involving my best friend, Brent, that deeply influenced my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. This essay delves into how my experience with mental health has shaped my life, aspirations, and the impact I strive to make.
One Thursday in the first week of August, my summer vacation was filled with hope and anticipation. However, that day took a sharp turn when I received a text from Brent's mother. Brent had been hospitalized after experiencing concerning symptoms, and a biopsy revealed a rare case of large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The news shattered my world, leaving me with overwhelming questions and a profound sense of helplessness. The following days and weeks were filled with sorrow. Though I tried to maintain a brave facade, the grief began to seep into every aspect of my life. My grades slipped, friendships strained, and even the activities I once enjoyed lost their allure. The toll of sleepless nights weighed heavily on my spirit, and I questioned whether happiness would ever return.
During a senior pool event, I arranged a Zoom call with Brent, aiming to bring a slice of joy to his difficult journey. As I saw his face light up with happiness, a realization struck me deeply. If he could find moments of joy amidst his pain, I too could find a path back to happiness. With newfound determination, I confided in my parents about my struggles and sought academic support from my school. Together, we made adjustments, such as dropping a few AP courses, to help me regain my footing.
Recognizing the importance of addressing my mental health, I began attending weekly sessions with my school's therapist. These sessions provided a safe space to explore my emotions, manage my depression symptoms, and cultivate resilience. Over time, I discovered the power of accepting help and opening up to others, realizing that true strength lies in seeking support.
Through my journey, I developed a strong belief in the importance of mental health awareness and support. I became actively involved in clubs like M.E.S.A., Academic Decathlon, and Metal Punk, where I not only found a sense of belonging but also shared my story to inspire others. By embracing vulnerability, I forged genuine connections with peers who valued open dialogue and understood the significance of mental well-being.
My experience with mental health has kindled a passion within me to make a difference in the lives of others. I aspire to pursue a career in psychology, aiming to help individuals navigate their mental health challenges and find their own paths to healing. I hope to contribute to the growing awareness and understanding of mental health, breaking down stigmas and ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need.
My journey with mental health has been transformative, influencing my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. Through the pain of witnessing my best friend's illness, I discovered the resilience within myself and learned the power of seeking support. By embracing vulnerability and advocating for mental health awareness, I have forged meaningful connections and set my sights on a future where I can make a positive impact. As Brent and I continue to ascend together, I am committed to helping others find strength and hope on their own journeys toward mental well-being.
Book Lovers Scholarship
The force of resolve and tenacity is one of The Great Gatsby's (F. Scott Fitzgerald) most crucial teachings. Jay Gatsby's path to becoming one of New York City's richest and most powerful men was not simple. He encountered several challenges, including poverty and rejection, yet he never gave up on his ambition. His constant dedication and self-belief enabled him to do what many felt was impossible.
The book also emphasizes the significance of relationships and their influence on our lives. Daisy was Gatsby's all-consuming passion, and it propelled him to chase his aspirations with unyielding tenacity. His preoccupation with Daisy, on the other hand, proved to be his undoing. While love and relationships may be great motivators, they can also take us down a perilous path if we allow them to consume us.
Another prominent subject of the novel is money's corrupting effect and the excesses of the privileged. Gatsby's money and lavish parties highlighted his success and power, but they also reflected the darker side of the American Dream. The desire for riches and material belongings may lead to greed and corruption, as well as unwise judgments that hurt ourselves and others.
The Great Gatsby is also a work that inspires us to think about our past and our role in society. The book's protagonists are all struggling with their sense of identity and purpose, as well as seeking to find their place in a quickly changing society. The book prompts us to consider comparable questions: What do we value? What is our goal? How would we like to be remembered?
Finally, The Great Gatsby is a great and timeless work of literature that provides a plethora of ideas and views on the human experience. It is a book that both stimulates us to chase our desires and warns us about the perils of excess and consumerism. We may obtain a better knowledge of ourselves and the world around us by reading this book, and we can be reminded of the significance of determination, relationships, and introspection.

I've always wanted to make a positive difference in the world, ever since I was a child. I believe that everyone, no matter how big or tiny, can make a difference. This is what motivates me to wake up every day with desire, passion, and resolve to improve not just my life but also the lives of others.
Throughout my academic career, I have participated in a variety of extracurricular activities that have helped me hone my leadership and management abilities. For example, I spent several years on the varsity academic decathlon team, where I learned the importance of cooperation, communication, and discipline. I've also worked as the treasurer for my school's MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and Achievement) program, where I learned about budgeting, fundraising, and event organizing. Furthermore, I've always been interested in giving back to my community and making a difference in the lives of others. For example, I've helped at local food banks and homeless shelters, where I saw directly how poverty and homelessness affect individuals and families. These events have only fueled my ambition to use my work to make a positive difference in the world.
I feel that earning a degree in management and leadership will enable me to build the skills required to effectively lead and manage enterprises. Furthermore, I intend to use my knowledge and abilities to positively impact society by promoting sustainable and socially responsible corporate practices. I am especially interested in the intersection of business and social impact, and I hope to build a career that balances profit and purpose by believing that every person deserves a fair and just society. I also hope to use my career to make the world more equitable and just for all.
Finally, I am eager to begin my academic journey at Loyola Marymount University, where I intend to gain the skills necessary to have a great effect on the world through my career. I am motivated by a desire to make a difference, and I am convinced that my enthusiasm and determination will enable me to achieve my objectives. I am confident that with hard work and determination, I will be able to build a profession that not only benefits me but also has a positive impact on others.
Headbang For Science
Greetings, My name is Brandon Adan Molina, and I'm a high school senior with a passion for learning and striving towards generosity. I have a 3.7 GPA and enjoy a wide range of subjects, including business, filmmaking, history, and science. After graduation, I am confirmed to be attending Loyola Marymount University College of Business Administration in Management and Leadership right here in Los Angeles. I hope to gain internships in the medical field through companies such as Kaiser Permanente or Cedars Sinai as a business administrator. As a business administrator in the medical field, I would play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day operations of medical facilities. This would involve overseeing budgets, managing staff, coordinating with medical professionals, and ensuring that the facility is operating efficiently and effectively.
In addition, an internship in the medical field would allow me to develop important skills that are transferable to other industries. I would be well-positioned to take on leadership roles in a variety of industries. I'm dedicated to helping others and have experienced what it's like to struggle and feel alone. I had allergies to gluten, dairy, and soy, and my parents didn't know when I was born, but thankfully, we caught it early. I've also been in constant agony due to being on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Through these experiences, I know the importance of someone having your back, and I want to communicate with others and support them.
For me, Heavy Metal music holds a special place in my heart as it has been an integral part of my life since before I was even born. It has been a constant source of inspiration and a means of self-expression throughout my childhood and into my adult years. The music's rebellious nature is what initially drew me to it, as it provided a way for me to go against societal norms and express myself in a way that felt authentic.
Heavy Metal is not afraid to be different, to stand out from the crowd, and to speak out against the norm. The artists behind the music are driven by a passion to create something that truly represents their feelings, regardless of what the masses might think.
Growing up, my parents had a vast collection of Heavy Metal CDs, including some of the genre's most iconic bands like Metallica, Judas Priest, and Pantera. It was through listening to these bands and attending their concerts that I developed a deep appreciation for the music and its culture.
As I got older, I formed my bands and performed at various venues, including the House of Blues and Avalon Stadium. Being on stage, singing, and performing in front of an audience, is a feeling like no other. It's a moment when I feel completely free and able to let my creative and expressive flow come to life.
In conclusion, receiving this scholarship award would significantly benefit me and help me achieve my academic and professional goals. I'm dedicated to helping others and want to communicate with them and support them. Heavy Metal music is a significant influence in my life, and it represents an expressive way to go against societal norms. I'm ambitious, passionate, and driven toward achieving my goals, and this scholarship would be a massive step toward making them a reality. Thank you.

I was inspired to create Career Life by my work volunteering at Sage and Seekers, an organization founded in 2019 by Elly Katz living in Boston.

I also attended a world-renowned four-month program called KidsConnect at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. This program helped me develop the skills that I needed to thrive in a social environment.
Throughout my school years, I had an individual education plan with occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social therapy. These therapies helped me develop the skills that I needed to succeed academically and socially.
One thing that sets me apart from my peers is my aversion to social media. I believe that social media is filled with false information and endangers the youth. Instead, I spend my time enjoying classical music, such as rock, jazz, and country. I find that these genres of music provide me with the inspiration and motivation that I need to succeed.
In the future, I plan to continue giving back to my community by volunteering my time and resources. I believe that everyone has something to offer, and I am no exception. I am determined to use my unique attributes to make a difference in the world around me.
One way that I plan to give back to my community is by volunteering at local food banks. I understand how important it is to have access to healthy and nutritious food, especially for those with food allergies like myself. By volunteering at a food bank, I can help ensure that those in need have access to the food that they need to thrive.
I also plan to volunteer my time with organizations that help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I understand the challenges that these children face, and I want to help them develop the skills that they need to succeed. Whether it is through mentoring, tutoring, or simply providing a listening ear, I am committed to making a difference in the lives of these children.
In conclusion, my unique attributes have helped to shape me into the person that I am today. While I have faced many challenges throughout my life, I have always been determined to overcome them and give back to my community. Whether it is through my love of music, my aversion to social media, or my commitment to helping others, I am determined to make a difference in the world around me. I believe that everyone has something to offer, and I am excited to use my unique attributes to make a positive impact on the world as a Maverick.

I have experienced cancer indirectly through a friend. I received a text message from my best friend, Brent. Even though you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him, I would describe Brent as the older brother I've always wished for. He is a respectful gentleman with a heart of pure gold. Meeting up with one another on our hang-out spot; a blue bench by the main office. Tutoring one another in our struggling academics (mine was Science while he was Mathematics). Hanging out after-school in the nearby Shopping Center, comforting one another in our struggles but also celebrating our victories.
Around Brent, I was able to stop and smell the roses. Not focus on academics but enjoy life as a child. We had agreed to organize an event together, but my summer itinerary was already filled. Nonetheless, we texted each other regularly.
Oddly enough, the text was sent by his mother. Brent had been taken to the ICU two days prior after experiencing hallucinations, memory loss, fatigue, and loss of the ability to walk. A biopsy revealed that he had developed a rare case of large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
I couldn't believe it. So many questions were racing through my mind. "How did this happen?" "Is he in good condition?" "Can I see him soon?" and "How are his family members coping with this?" Knowing Brent was in so much pain and that there was nothing I could do about it was heartbreaking. I didn't know what to say at the time. I extended her my heartfelt love and support. I kept a smile on my face in public, but I was frequently sobbing to myself.
The grief altered my ability to work clearly. Upon the start of school, my grades started slipping, friendships started to rupture, my hobbies were a bore, and I could barely sleep. I didn’t know if I would ever be happy again.
One day, at the senior pool event, I hopped on a Zoom call with Brent. I figured that having him see the event virtually might cheer him up since he couldn’t be there. I walked around the party, and upon seeing his face light up, I realized if he could find happiness in his condition, so could I.
I admitted my struggles to my parents and reached out to my school for academic support. We ultimately decided that dropping a few AP courses would make it easier for me to catch up. Within a month, I was able to improve my grades (from Cs and Ds to As and Bs). I also attend mental health sessions with my school's therapist weekly, which has helped me manage my depression symptoms over time.
I began to participate in and lead clubs such as M.E.S.A. (Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and Achievement), Academic Decathlon, and Metal Punk, and I've made some new friends. Throughout this experience, I learned that it’s okay to accept help and to open up to others. I learned that the best way to project strength is by seeking help from others.
I'm still in constant contact with Brent. He's doing well. He finished a couple of surgeries and got accepted into three universities; Cal State LA, UC Riverside, and his Dream school UCLA. He’ll attend UCLA and send a deferral for a year due to his inability to walk currently. But he’s working hard to return to High school around May. And I'll be right there by his side. Two Seniors; ready to embark on their future career paths, together.

Community involvement has always been important to me. Growing up, my parents instilled in me the value of giving back and being an active member of society. This passion for community service has continued throughout my life and has only grown stronger as I have gotten older.
One of how I have worked to influence change in my community is through my involvement in various school events. As a student, I have participated in Fall Festivals, Parent-Student Seminars, and Filming Senior Graduations for Live-Streaming. Through these events, I have been able to connect with other members of my School community and help create a positive and engaging environment for everyone involved.
As a student representative I was tasked with hiring a new science teacher in the summer of 2022, I was able to contribute to the growth and development of our school’s science department. By advocating for the hiring of a qualified and dedicated teacher, I helped ensure that future students would have access to high-quality science education for years to come.
Another way in which I have worked to influence change in my community is through my involvement in mentoring 6th graders in the love of science. And have been able to share my passion for science with younger students and help inspire them to pursue their interests in the subject. By working with these students, I have been able to foster a sense of community and encourage them to explore their potential.
Additionally, I have been a part of the Clean up Crew at my Film Summer Camp for Cal Arts CAPSA (Community Arts Partnership Summer Arts) Culmination, helping to maintain a clean and safe environment for our community to enjoy. This work has allowed me to contribute to the beauty and upkeep of our community and has helped create a sense of pride and ownership.
One of the most meaningful ways in which I have worked to influence change in my community is through my writing of cards to homeless women. These cards offer words of encouragement and hope, letting these women know that they are not alone and that there are people in their community who care about them. This work has allowed me to connect with those who are often marginalized and forgotten and has helped me understand the importance of empathy and compassion in our daily lives.
Finally, most recently; I have donated Power Red blood to help those in need. I was committed to this by my Friend Brent Madjredo. He currently has Type Two Non-Lymphoma Cancer. By giving blood, I can contribute to the health and well-being of members of my community who may be facing difficult times. This act of kindness and generosity has allowed me to connect with others and give back in a meaningful way. I even registered to become a California Organ and Tissue Donor.
Overall, my passion for community involvement has driven me to work toward creating positive change in my community. Through my involvement in school events, mentoring younger students, maintaining a clean environment, writing cards to homeless women, and donating blood, I have been able to contribute to the betterment of my community in a variety of ways. These experiences have taught me the importance of empathy, compassion, and service, and have inspired me to continue working toward a better future for all members of my community.

I have never experienced any direct gun violence. Thankfully, I go to a wonderful school in a predominantly Caucasian neighborhood. Yet, I can’t ignore my experience of Indirect Gun Violence. I live in the city of Los Angeles compared to my school. My Neighborhood is at a cross-hair of gentrification. But we experienced the gathering of street racers. Pursuit suspects. Helicopters zooming the sky. There was even an occasional guy slipping in my backyard. I can’t let go of the fear, they are armed. I can’t shake any of it off. “What is coming upon American Society” I ponder to myself. Not only from the countless stories on the news. What feels like every day, those killed by crime or by mistake. “Been there at the Wrong Time” a lot would state. Journalists keep a contemptuous, monotone, vague expression. As if this doesn't sadden them. As if the victims are sub-humans. Not worth anyone's sympathy.
Corporate Media, Caring over reviews and profits over truth and morals would take a perspective on the shooting politically. Supporters of the NRA or Pushing for Gun Legislation. We as the people of the United States need to come together; unite as a nation. Write forth in ink “Enough is Enough”. How many more will suffer under these bullets? How many more students have to be fearful of the very institution, the community center, Is the virtue of being a kid; is knocked away by fears of your school being the next target? Some might say, well, you live in a rich neighborhood, filled with educated individuals with staff. Nothing will hit miles upon. Tell that to the survivors and parents of deceased students at Columbine, Tell it to Sandy Hook, Uvalde, Stoneman Douglass, and Nashville Covenant. Tell it to the Hundreds, if not thousands of others who experience Gun Violence frequently every day. Why is it, the United States has the most Gun Violence than any recorded country? It is puzzling. We're not at war or have Mafias/Cartels controlling our government. It boils down to two groups of people I learned.
Corporations create Revenue, cementing their legacy in thriving Outcasts. Outcasts who want to fit in. Wielding a weapon can be compared to the same mentality as a Ruler. Political Theorist Niccolò Machiavelli acclaimed work Novel “The Prince” Stated “Is it better to be feared or loved”. Owning a gun can be perceived as cool but can be feared as death. A Lot of Gun people have shown they have a degree of mental illness when operating these weapons. When will we, as a society, come together and support one another in evolving our society?
I’m attending Loyola Marymount University for Fall 2023 at their School of Business Administration. My degree is in Management and Leadership. I want to work in a Non-Profit or Government Agency on Helping others affected by Gun Violence through Mental Health or providing aid to victims. In my free time, I will join other students in protesting in any way we can. Sending petitions to our politicians. Now, about My extracurricular activities, I am a member of my Academic Decathlon, President of M.E.S.A. (Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement), I’m a frequent member of Sage and Seekers (Partnering Elderly Citizens with Gen Z to form meaningful relationships to diminish ageism), Representative for Pali Metal Punk Lunch Club, Tutor elementary student on zoom on reading, Tutor a class in 1st period, and the cast has the lead in my school Film Web Series Group as a Substitute Teacher.
