Bio

I am a 3rd year college student at the University of Central Florida going for a degree in Forensic Science. I am a First Generation student that also has Type 1 Diabetes. I often spend my days balancing my school work, my medical responsibilities, and my social life. During my high-school career, I graduated Lake Brantley High School with a 4.22 GPA, a 1400 SAT score, and the title of Summa Cum Laude. I also achieved a Computer-Aided Design Technical Certificate, am certified in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. I was awarded the Top Ten Knights certificate from UCF for graduating in the top ten percent of my class in 2019. I achieved all of this even though I have Type 1 Diabetes. I currently work at a copy and print center at an Office Depot and I have had work experience in fast food and retail over the past 2 years. My dream is to one day become a crime scene investigator, working to help decipher crime scenes and help bring closure to the victim's loved ones. I believe this path is what I was destined for due to my strong sense of justice. I am currently trying to get scholarships in order to put myself in the best chance for success towards my path in life. I would be blessed with any amount given to me as it will put me in a better financial situation for my final year at college. Being able to pay for all my college expenses would allow me to focus on being able to pay for medical supplies and have a better life. Overall, I am determined to conquer my Diabetes and not let it set me back in life.

The quality that I value the most about myself is my determination. Throughout my life, I have faced many difficult challenges that I was forced to overcome. The biggest obstacle that I have faced was being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I was diagnosed right before 5th grade started. I was forced to deal with these new challenges that I would now have to face during my normal life. In addition, I had to transition to this new lifestyle while also starting a new grade level. Despite this setback, I was determined to not let this disease control my life. I learned how to deal with this disease and focused on passing 5th grade and moving on to middle school. In the middle of this school year, however, I was faced with another obstacle. I had to be transferred to the hospital because I had appendicitis. I was unable to return to school for 3 weeks because of the recovery process. When I got back, I had 3 weeks worth of assignments that I can to catch up on for my classes. Despite this being a daunting task, I was determined to get through it and move pass all of this. After 5th grade, I switched from using shots to inject insulin into me to a insulin pump. This transition process required me learning how to use the pump on my own, which, once again, I was determined to do since I knew it would make my life easier. Fast forward to high school, I was still determined to not only not let my Diabetes set me back, but to conquer it. I did not let my Diabetes stop me from making friends, joining clubs, playing sports, and doing well in school. I was able to get all the achievements I got in high school because I was determined to do so. I knew that I would have more choices in life the more I did in school so I made the most of it. Currently I am in my third year of college looking to graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science with the goal of becoming a crime scene investigator. I am still as determined as I was in the past, which I believe will help me on my life's journey. I have many goals that I want to achieve in my life and I believe that my determination will make those goals reachable and to make the obstacles that I will encounter along the way obsolete.
    Bold Bucket List Scholarship
On my bucket list, I want to graduate college with a Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science with the best grades I can possibly get. Everything I try to do, I want to learn and get better at so that I am one of the best at it. I want put that energy towards my future career as a crime scene investigator and rise to the top as one of the best at it. I will continue to battle and conquer my Type 1 Diabetes until it truly does not affect me and what I try to do. On my path, I was able to achieve goals that were previously on my bucket list, such as: graduating in the top 10 percent, achieving multiple awards and certifications, getting better at handling my Diabetes, getting inducted into the National Honor Society, having a GPA above 4.0, and passing multiple AP exams. There are still, however, many things on my bucket list and as long as there are things on that list, I will continue working hard to complete it.
