My professional goals include getting my BSN degree to become a registered nurse, then returning to school to get my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree to become a nurse practitioner.
One of the most significant accomplishments I achieved in pursuit of my goals was getting a job as an ER tech at the Toledo Emergency Room. Working there is what inspired me to pursue a career as a nurse in the first place, and I have already learned so much about the profession and healthcare in general.
Receiving a scholarship from this application would be wonderful. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to pursue a college education and I definitely do not take it for granted. I value every single dollar I earn that goes toward my degree, because I know that everyone is not as fortunate. With that being said, college is very expensive, and as a student who would also like to pursue a graduate degree, financial problems are something I am worried may get in the way of achieving my goals and chasing my dreams. Receiving a scholarship would really help ease this burden and lessen the stress that comes with paying for college.

As someone who has always had a passion for helping others, I knew that pursuing a major in the medical field would be the perfect choice for me. I have always been drawn to medicine, but recently became interested in nursing, and realized that it would be the perfect career that would allow me the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of my patients.
When I began college, I was excited to dive into my courses and start learning everything I could about my future career. I was fortunate enough to receive this scholarship that has helped me progress towards my college and career goals by covering a significant portion of my tuition costs.
Throughout my college experience, I have faced many challenges and struggled at times to balance my difficult coursework with my part-time job and school involvement. However, I have also had many accomplishments along the way. I have excelled in my academic classes, keeping a 3.9 GPA my first semester. I have also had the opportunity to participate in several extracurricular activities, including joining the club soccer team and participating in group study sessions.
One of my proudest accomplishments so far has been getting a job at my local ER as an emergency technician.. This experience has allowed me to work alongside experienced nurses and gain valuable hands-on experience in the field, assisting in procedures, completing blood draws and EKGs, and even doing CPR. It also solidified my passion for emergency nursing and confirmed that this is possibly the area of medicine I want to specialize in as I continue my education.
Looking back on my college experience thus far, I am grateful for the opportunity to pursue my passion for medicine and am excited to see where this career path takes me. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I have gained through my coursework and clinical experiences will serve me well as I begin my career and work to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
As an aspiring nurse, I feel as though nursing is more than just a job. It is a privilege to help
those who are unable to help themselves. My goal is to use my passion of helping and advocating for others to fuel my desire to become the best nurse possible.
As a nurse, I will be given the opportunity for life-long learning, something that very excites me. As a current student, I love having the chance to be able to learn so much about what I am passionate about. Nursing will allow me to expand upon my knowledge throughout my career and allow me to give the best care to my patients as possible.
As of right now, I am currently interested in emergency medicine as a clinical specialty. I currently work as an ER technician, which is what inspired me to become a nurse. One thing I adore about the ER is the ability to be able to change someone's life drastically. In the ER, we see some of the most life-altering conditions. As a result, we get the opportunity to make a difference and potentially save the life of the patient. This is such a rewarding feeling, and being able to help someone when they are at their lowest is one of the best feelings I have ever experienced.
Due to my experience in the ER, I am anticipating becoming an ER nurse, with the interest of potentially specializing in critical care as a nurse practitioner.

To pursue a career as a caring professional, such as in nursing, I believe that there are several different characteristics that come together to create my personal philosophy. As an aspiring nurse, I strongly feel as though nursing is more than just a job. As a nurse, it is an entitlement and privilege to be able to help those who are unable to help themselves. My goal is to use my passion of helping and advocating for others to fuel my desire to become the best nurse possible and I will dedicate my professional career to doing all possible to make the lives of my patients better and more fulfilling.
In addition, as a nurse, I will be given the opportunity for life-long learning, something that very excites me. As a current student, I love having the chance to be able to learn so much about what I am passionate about. Nursing will allow me to keep learning throughout my career, and expand upon my knowledge to further benefit myself and allow me to give the best care to my patients as possible.
Communication is one of the most vital aspects to the profession of nursing. It assists in the performance of accuracy and consistency, ensuring both the satisfaction of the patient and the protection of the nurse. As someone who currently works in healthcare, communication plays such a strong role. It allows tasks to be done efficiently, properly, and quickly. As a nurse, it is so important to be able to communicate with colleagues and patients, and I am fortunate to have already begun to learn about such.
As of right now, I am currently interested in emergency medicine as a clinical specialty. I work as an emergency room technician, where I am able to practice a plethora of clinical skills, including but not limited to EKGs, blood draws, CPR, and other nursing skills. One thing I adore about the ER is the wide range of patients I see. All age groups with such vast displays of chief complaints walk through our doors, from the common cold to cardiac arrests. I love being able to see the different types of patients and be able to learn about the complexity of certain cases.
Another thing I love about the ER is the ability to be able to change someone's life drastically. In the ER, we see some of the most life-altering conditions.
