Bio

My life goals is to go to college, get a degree in nursing, go to medical school, and study pediatrics, and eventually become a doctor. What excites me the most is to become a doctor. I knew from an early age that the only profession I wanted is to be a doctor. I want to go into the medical field, being able to help those in pain. Helping others makes me happy. The reason why I'm a great a candidate, is that I'm a very hard worker and very helpful in all aspects that come my way. Also, I am so determined to achieve my goals and dreams. I am ready to study harder to achieve my goals of where I want to be in life.

As a child, my dream was to be a nurse. Throughout my childhood, I always admired the nurses and how they treated me during doctor visits. The reasons for choosing Nursing include the ability to care for someone, the money and benefits of a career, and the stability and flexibility of a job. One of the main reasons I'm interested in majoring in a Nursing program is that I can take care of someone other than myself. Nurses usually have a caring heart to help cure any ailment, whether someone is physically or mentally ill. I’m the oldest of three children. In addition to being the oldest, I am also the caretaker of my two younger siblings who were diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. From the ages of 7-17, I have cared for my brothers. These ten years have honestly been a learning experience. When I was finally able to understand this, my perspective completely changed. I began to attend my brothers’ doctor’s appointments, sign language classes, and even speech therapies. Although some days were more difficult than others, I appreciated every second spent with them. With my increased understanding, came increased patience and appreciation for my brothers. Although I’m great at making this all sound beautiful, there were many struggles faced too. Becoming a caretaker at such a young age forced me to mature much faster than my peers. Because I was blessed with the knowledge of how to care for people with disabilities It inspired me to volunteer at Jeducare services working with children with disabilities. Working with children with special needs has opened up awareness in my community and more parents with children with special needs are now getting more help and care for their children. Experiences like this heightened my compassion for children and people with disabilities. To those who would perceive these experiences as negative, I urge you to think again. My brothers have made me who I am. The patience and passion that I was able to acquire were all caused by them. They are my identity. They are my life. Because of them, my life’s purpose is to help all children in any way that I can. One way of doing this is by becoming a pediatrician; however, simply helping other children diagnosed with ASD is what I do daily to fulfill this calling. In the future, I not only plan to challenge the world’s view of ASD, but I also hope to create a world where children are uplifted everywhere. And to achieve this goal I will need a college degree and I’m aiming also for a master's degree so that when I leave college I can go straight into medical school so I can be taught the different versions of nurses/doctors. I am also pursuing a college degree because there is no limit to education and because of that I would love to get all the education that I can because I am curious about what is in store for me.

When I was younger, I had always struggled with my weight because I was overweight and I used to get bullied a lot over my weight. It caused me to have body dysphoria and the only way I coped with it was to keep on eating. At a certain point, I fell into a deep depression about my body because people's opinions matter to me a lot back then. My friends and classmate would always make jokes about me being chubby or that I could not run as fast as they could and it destroyed my self-confidence. I wanted to lose weight and I started trying a different method to cope by starving myself or throwing up my food every time I do eat. I would proceed to go the bathroom and put two fingers down my throat and puke up what I recently ate. At first, I thought it was working because it made me skinnier, which made me happy that I have done it. But shortly I came to realize due to doctor's visits that it was not healthy or normal to do that to myself I was given a strict diet meal plan, which I followed religiously. I stop my intake of Junk foods and I made breakfast and lunch my biggest meal every day by drinking lots of water because I found out that it helps tremendously with proper digestion and absorption of nutrients. . I love to eat something raw from the plant kingdom at every meal such as vegetables, fruits, and legumes. I go to sleep at the same time and get up at the same time so that I do get at least 8 hours of sleep daily. In The morning on the weekends at 7 am I ride my bike around my community and on the weekdays after school, I walked 2 miles every day. So once I started to change my diet and started to work out and got more healthy, I join the swim team and it helped me lose more weight than I could ever imagine. My intake of water got my family and friends to make fun of me that If I were to swallow a living fish, the fish will not die but be having fun doing aerobics and swimming in me. Lol. I am proud of myself because I finished well and got my health on the right track.
