Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
Simple pleasures are often hard to talk about because they you might not notice them or think them pleasure for they can be very mundane. I suppose a simple pleasure for me would be reading a book. Between, school, homework, and my job I don't have a lot of time to read like I used to. When I find time though its perfect I get to sink into some magical fantasy world and escape from this one. Its the best feeling in the world to be able to completely immerse yourself in your mind and another world, everything around you fades out and you feel as if your in this world. Another simple pleasure is when I finish a book series and I am able to sit there alone in silence and reflect on the story and mourn the fact that its over. To think back on how the protanagist grew, the character who died, and everything they went through.
Bold Driven Scholarship
My entire life I have always loved animals. I was obsessed with them I would read books about them and watch nature documentaries. Their plight always struck me I hated that humans were causing all of these horrible things to happen to animals and I wanted to help.
I had seen this injured coyote one days back legs had been ran over by a car. It was alive and in so much pain; it broke my heart I hated that it was suffering. One of the local wildlife sanctuaries came and got, and kept checking in on it. It was doing well and they let me be there when they released it.I knew from that point on I wanted to become a wildlife rehabilitator.
To this I plan on getting a bachelors of science in animal ecology. Then I am going to get a certification in wildlife rehabilitation at the animal institute online and then find an internship. I want this career in working with animals so I can help them to survive and live in the wild. I am going to be an animal advocate and try to stop the deforestation and everything else that hurts animals and our planet.

To some people community might just be their neighbors or the people in their town, but to me community is family and friends. Community are your friends in your neighborhood that you can ask for help or spend time with. They are people that you can trust and depend on no matter what. Community is a person's connections, their network and without community you do not have anything. You do not have someone to drive you to work when your car in the shop or watch your dogs. Community means dependability, and not being alone.
In my community I try to give back as much as I can. I help my elderly neighbors with their gardening, and give them rides. I purposely make too much food just so I can go give some to me my neighbors, because I know they are barely making ends meet. I watch people dogs and babysit sit when I can for free, because I know they have no money and no options. When I see people begging on the side of the food in my town I give them apples that I have from an apple tree in my car. It might not seem like much to give someone some apples, but I remember the first time I did that for a young couple outside taco bell they cried, they were so thankful. There was this women sitting outside smiths wearing a really dirty stained shirt, so I went and bought her a new one.
I am a high school student doing dual enrollment and working to help with the bills, I do not have much time or money but, I try to do what I can even if it's not much. Its something I learned from family. When I was younger my granny would take me and my brother and we would go up to the home camps and give them food and clothes or we would go to the wildlife sanctuaries in my town and help out. Both of those shaped me into being a person obsessed with helping animals and people, one which I have decided to make a career out of ( E.I helping animals). In the little free time I have outside school, work, and helping in the community I am usually found hiking, biking, or reading.
The vision I have of the future is one people are not arguing or stupid things like gender, sexuality, and what people do with their bodies. A future where people are not arguing over stupid things, but a future where governments and people are united in fixing are real problems such as, deforestation, global warming, and world hunger.
Empowering Women Through Education Scholarship
Education has always been a large part of my life, an escape. It's been a way to better my situations and my families. My parents and my brother all dropped out of high school, and their situation is horrible. While they saw education as an obstacle something unneeded and just in their way; I saw it as a stepping stone a way to get out. I did not want to settle for some low paying job when I graduated I needed a high paying job; so I needed to go to college.
I remember going to entering kindergarten and being so far behind everyone else in every aspect. I was the slow dumb kid and I hated it. So, I applied myself first with reading, and I excelled; by the time I was in 3rd grade I was testing at a high school reading level and had found an escape in fiction and nonfiction books. I also began to excel in my other school subjects, when I got to middle school they put me in mostly honored courses. Then in high school I was also put into honor courses, I was getting awards for my high GPA, and was taking dual enrollment courses at the local college GBC. By that time I was looking into future careers and what I wanted to do with my life. The answer to that turned out to be on my bookshelf, with all of my animal books and with the biology related courses I was taking. I wanted to work with animals, save animals, which i needed a college degree for.
I always make sure I excelled at everything because I wanted a better lot in life, I wanted to achieve my dream job. I looked at my brother and my parents living situation, and I did not want that. I knew the only way to get out would be college and a good career. So, I escaped into my studies to distract myself from my current life and to give me hope for a better future. I kept my grades high so I could get into college and have a good career in the future. Education for me has always been a distraction, and a hope for a better future. A promise that I will not need to struggle as much as my parents and brother currently will. Its a promise that I can prosper in life and give back to the community.
Bold Dream Big Scholarship
My dream life would be that of an archaeologist's, spending my time studying past cultures and current cultures. Learn everything about these cultures and figuring out how they evolved. It would be going to places where people who are long gone once were and looking at what they left behind. In my dream life, I would be learning about the past, what people did, what they used things for, and why, see the things and buildings they made. Greek, Roman, Babylonian, Persian, Egyptian, Mayan, Incan, Phoenician, Mesopotamian, would be but a few of the societies I want to study and learn about. I would be unraveling all the mysteries of the past, so I can help the world learn about the past and what our ancestors did, the achievements and advancements made, so we can understand the past and where we came from and it relates to today and current cultures.
"Your Success" Youssef Scholarship
Ever since I was little I was the 'smart one' in my family and did better and excelled in school more than anyone else in my family ever did. While everyone else was watching tv or going shopping, I wanted to read books and go to the library. I was the only one in my family that liked to read. No one in my family has ever gone to college, my brother dropped out in 12th grade, my dad in 9th and my mom just never went. I want to pursue higher education, to be able to achieve my dream of being an archaeologist and traveling around and to be the first person in my family to ever attend college. I'm not participating in any extracurriculars currently, but I have been wanting to join the key club I also intend on joining my school's outdoor activity club, which is like rock climbing, repelling, and hiking. I might join the gamers club as well.
I've always liked history and mythology and I developed a deep fascination with history and wanting to know all about it. I want to study past cultures and learn everything about them, to go to these places where people who are long gone once were and look at what they left behind. I want to learn about the past, what people did, what they used things for, and why, see the things and buildings they made. Greek, Roman, Babylonian, Persian, Egyptian, Mayan, Incan, Phoenician, Mesopotamian, and others are but a few of the societies I want to study and learn about them. I want to be an archaeologist so I can help unravel mysteries about the past. So, I can help the world learn about the past and what our ancestors did, the achievements and advancements made, so we can understand the past and where we came from. To be able to accomplish what I want to do though and make my dreams a reality I need to pursue higher education. I want to get a bachelor's degree in anthropology/ archaeology, and then I want to work on getting a master's degree as well.
A Sani Life Scholarship
2020 has been a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences. Our lives have been flipped onto the side and turned upside down. It has taught me that they're always going to be bumps along the road. That it will not always be smooth sailing, and that anything could happen. That even the most unexpected things can happen and flip everything upside down. This pandemic has shown me that you need to be prepared for anything and have multiple plans and that you need to be flexible about such plans or how you do things. Not everything can be done the way you want it to be done or go the way you want it to go, everything that can go wrong will go wrong, and you need to keep that in mind and be prepared.
I will always remember the struggle, the large quarantines and mass shutdowns, the mass layoffs the shortages, and all the deaths. The way people lost their businesses and homes or were scared to, or how people thought they were going to throw or have no electricity because they had no money, or how people struggled to feed themselves. The gnaw of hunger in my own belly and the darkness
This has changed my plans for the future because I never realized how bad things could get. I realized to achieve my goals in the future I would have to work harder than I thought I would have to. That I will need a job to support myself, and I have to look at more realistic colleges that are more in my price range. I have to be realistic about my current and future life.

Dorothy Garrod was a trailblazer, pathing the way for women. She was the first female professor at oxford and achieved the accolade at Cambridge in 1939 - nine years before women could be awarded degrees at the University. Dorothy was a renowned archaeologist, known for her excavations in Gibraltar - where she famously discovered a rare skull of a Neanderthal child. In 1939, Garrod was selected as the Disney Professor of Archaeology - the first woman to do so at either Oxford or Cambridge, extremely remarkable considering at Cambridge women were not awarded degrees until 1948 and women could not become full members of the university at the time.

Harry potter is a widely loved film, and it is especially loved by me. They're my favorite because they taught me to accept everyone no matter what. I also love the plot line, all the happiness the characters experience, but also all the angst and grief. I've been watching harry potter my entire life and never tire of watching the characters transformations and growth throughout the story line.
GRLSWIRL Scholarship
When I was young I hated school, I wasn't doing well, I struggled in reading while all my other classmates were way ahead of me. It stayed this way until third grade as I didn't see any reason to try. I didn't think books were all that fun. Then, my teacher, Mr. Dispensa, started reading to us in the afternoon a few chapters a day, a book called Fablehaven. I loved I hadn't thought books could be so interesting before, and I started applying myself with earnest, and to my shock, I found reading easy. I fell in love with books, and quickly soared ahead of my grade level, and was testing at a ninth-grade reading level in the fourth grade. My school had a strange rule where we could only read books at and around the reading level we tested we were and most of the books around the ninth grade reading level that my elementary school had were history books. That's how I discovered my second love history, I found it fascinating, especially ancient history about the Greeks, Romans, Babylonians, and Persians.
I spent most of my time reading about these people and places, but I didn't want to just read about it. I wanted to see it, experience it, go to these places and study things they left behind and learn about them. Although it wasn't until one day in the seventh grade, we were talking about careers. I began to wonder was there a job I could have that would let me do those things. I quickly found out there was, and it was called archaeology. I want to be an archaeologist, to study ancient societies, and learn about, to look, and study the items and buildings that remain of them. I want to figure out old mysteries about ancient societies, and bring understanding to people. To figure old the old origins of this thing or that tradition, to figure old what that building was for or why it exists in the first place. I want to understand the mysteries of the past and help others understand it too.
JuJu Foundation Scholarship
My greatest inspiration is and has always been my family. For as long as I can remember, they've always encouraged me to do my best on things no matter what it was. They'd hype me up and tell me I could do anything I set my mind to, and they'd help me do whatever it was. Like, once for one of my elementary school Christmas programs, I had to sing a solo. I was horrified when they told me I couldn't do that. My family helped out though to learn the lyrics. My brother would have me sing the song on the way to the bus stop in the morning, and my mom would make me sing it once before I would go to bed, and I managed to do the show without making a mistake. Although even when I do fail at something, they don't criticize me for it, they say good job and better luck next time. They never make me feel like I fail even when I do, they help me move past it. That's why my family is my greatest inspiration because they drive me to do my best at everything and don't fault me when I cant do my best.
"What Moves You" Scholarship
37% of kids in the U.S have read Harry Potter, including me. I love Harry Potter the first time I watched it when I was four years old and then read all the books by the time I was seven years old. Being so young at the time, I didn't understand a lot of the impactful statements and themes in the book, but it was my favorite series, and I continued to read it over and over and into highschool. As I grew older I began to realize the deeper meaning, and advice that was in the books, messages, and quotes about standing up for what's right among other things. "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live," was said by Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
I had barely realized that this had been said in the book till a friend mentioned it when we were discussing Harry Potter. I find the quote to be telling people not to dwell on what the future could be but to focus on the present and make those dreams of the future a reality. Before I heard this quote, I didn't do much hung out with my friends and did my school, I always had dreams about what I wanted to do, and be, but I never actively tried to start making that dream become reality. Then, this quote stood out to me and stuck in my mind, it changed how I did things. I started trying to get that dream to become a reality, figuring out what college I want to go to, and finding a way to pay for it.

"So what are you going to do after school." This is a question commonly asked to high schoolers, but many don't know how to answer what seems like a simple question but isn't. They"ll that they don't know or that they want to go to college, but they don't know what they want to study. That's not me I've known What I've wanted to be since I was eight, an archaeologist.
In college, I want to study anthropology and archaeology. I want to help unravel the mystery about how humans are the way we are inside and out, about how past societies lived and where it all began. I want to go to an ancient site and find artifacts, monuments, inscriptions that a past society used, built, or made, then find out how, why, and use it to find out what that society's culture was like and that artifacts place in. I find cultures and past and present, and everything that makes them up absolutely fascinating, and I want to study them and learn about them.

Nikhil Desai Reflect and Learn COVID-19 Scholarship
Covid-19 has affected many people's lifes some more than others but nonetheless drastically changing them forever one way or another. What once strange like avoiding people is now the norm, and what was once the norm like handshakes, hugs, or even going out is now strange. People are always wearing masks and focused on sanitation.
While covid-19 hasn't affected my life as drastically as others it has still been affected even if in minors ways. In the past, I was able to see my friends constantly and attend school, but no longer with covid racing across the world infecting person after person that is no longer the norm. I am no longer able to see my friends or go to school, I like many others am isolated from the majority of the world and I have not been able to see my brother in months. It has led to constant boredom but has also given me time to think and reflect on things. I have learned that I am an active person and I overthink a lot. For example, if I am just sitting there with nothing to focus on then I get really restless and I have to move around its like a compulsion, and moving around helps me take my mind off my thoughts which tend to run all over the place when I am not doing anything. Plus, with nothing else to do, I have also learned that I like to cook and bake. Also, I have observed and learned from watching and reading the news that during a crisis and unknown situation people tend to lash out and rebel because they are scared and don't know or like what's going on, like with all the protests and civil unrest going on.
Act Locally Scholarship
The world filled with people separated into countries and then communities is filled with hate and violence just because of our differences. People are being persecuted just because their gay or identify as a different gender. People are being shot, mistreated, and categorized over the color of their skin. People are being killed and mistreated because of their religion, there are thousands of Muslims currently in Chinese concentration camps. People are being forced to fight for equality when they shouldn't have, they should already have it. All this is going on because people are judging others based on beliefs, lifestyles, skin color, gender, and beliefs emphasizing other people's differences and thinking that if there are not like them then their beneath them. They are forgetting we are all human just trying to survive day by day on this spinning blue marble called earth hurling through space, just a speck of dust in the scheme of the universe.
The change I want to see in people in my community, country, and the world is that everyone accepts and helps each other. That people would help others they see in need, like giving people you see on the streets food, blankets, clothing, helping them get a job, or even a place to stay. I want people to stop judging others based on their religion, the color of their skin, who they love, or what their gender is and just accept them as they are because two people of the same gender being together doesn't hurt anyone, homosexuality has existed for thousands of years and exists in animals too. People being a different gender than what they were biologically born as also doesn't hurt anyone and has existed for thousands of years too the ancient greek actually thought that trans people existed because Apollo got drunk and put the wrong genitalia on people. People being of different colors doesn't mean anything. Thousands of years ago everyone's ancestors lived in the southern hemisphere and had dark skin to keep the sun out of their bodies, then as people moved north and began living in caves their skin began to lighten to let as much sun in as possible because they needed it, being white is a genetic mutation. I want the violence to stop and for everyone to just love and accept each other for who they are, and forget about our differences as they don't mean anything, we all bleed red, breathe the same air, live on the same planet, and genetically we are almost all the same except for some minor differences in our genetic code.
I try to my part by acting locally and helping the people in my community. I go out by myself and give those who need it blankets, clothes, food, water, and even job applications and take abandoned animals to the shelter. Some of my friends are those that people would categorize as 'different' even though they are just being their selves, sometimes people treat them badly and I stand up for them. I haven't done as much as I want to, but I'm going to try in the future to do as much as I can to help people.
Justricia Scholarship for Education
Education is a pillar of society, a tool that provides people with knowledge, technique, information, and skill. It is what allows us to comprehend things, allows us to know our rights and duties, to think for ourselves to fight against injustice, violence, corruption, and other horrible things that plague our society. Education has given me those things and so much more.
It has played a large part in my life since I entered school. My education has given me something to focus on to distract me from my life and has allowed me to improve my life in the future. It has always been the center of my life, some way or another. I'm always reading or studying, learning new things about whatever catches my interest. Education has helped me develop into who I am and still is. It has shown me the importance of hard work and patience, that it's better to slow and do things thoroughly rather than rushing through things. Plus, said patience has also helped with solving problems in my life. Also, my education has helped me develop my self-confidence because I know all the facts and all those presentations I've had to make too. In addition, I've been able to learn things that will help me survive later in life, like cooking, things that will help me secure a career (archaeologist) in the future and get into a good college. Furthermore, education has shown me that everyone needs a secure and stable life, but not everyone is as fortunate, and I need to give back and help those in my community that are less fortunate. I am grateful for my education and the role it plays in my life, for it has allowed me to expand my knowledge of the world around me, as well as the things going on in that world, and will allow me to secure myself a bright future for myself, those around me, and hopefully the world.

I have a big brother David, who is 3 years older than me and has always been there for me no matter what. For example, when I was seven, my brother, our friend Nick, and I was out in a large field next to where we lived. There was this old rusty boxcar that sat in the middle of the field out there, and we always went there to hung out and, pass the time. This one day though we were inside the boxcar and were goofing around and climbing on the sides, I ended up getting my leg stuck between some bars. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get my leg out, and I was in a really awkward position. I was in tears, David came over, and he couldn't get me out either he stayed with me for an hour, keeping me calm and distracting me before Nick came back with help. Also, there was another time I was about 9, we were playing around near an old chicken coop on our property, and I accidentally stepped on an old nail, and it went through my foot. I was hysterical. We were home alone that day because daddy was a few houses down helping a friend, and David carried me inside and called daddy, he came home, and we all went to the hospital to get the nail out, and for me to get a tetanus shot, David held my hand the whole time. Therefore I am very thankful for my big bro.
