Dance is a powerful tool that inspires change and breaks boundaries. Sadly, underprivileged young black and brown aspiring dancers face numerous obstacles and limited opportunities. To address this, I will create accessible dance programs tailored specifically for them. Collaborating with local organizations, schools, and community centers, I will offer affordable or free dance classes, workshops, and performances. By removing financial barriers, I will ensure that talent and passion, rather than economic circumstances, determine success. Scholarships and financial aid programs will provide equal opportunities. Deserving dancers will receive support for training costs, attire, and transportation expenses. By alleviating financial burdens, I will empower them to focus on their dance education and pursue their dreams. Mentorship programs will be crucial. Aspiring dancers will be paired with experienced mentors of color who can provide guidance, support, and inspiration. Showcasing successful dancers of color as role models will further motivate them. Advocacy for representation and diversity is essential. I will encourage prioritizing underprivileged young black and brown dancers in organizations, festivals, and performances. By providing platforms for their talent and perspectives, we can reshape the industry and promote inclusivity. Community outreach programs will be used to reach underprivileged areas. Through partnerships with schools, community centers, and youth organizations, dance will be brought directly to them. Performances, workshops, and interactive sessions will inspire self-expression and personal growth. Collaboration with other dance organizations, artists, and institutions will amplify our impact. Together, we will pool resources and expertise, creating opportunities for underprivileged young black and brown dancers. Advocacy for dance education and access to the arts is crucial. Raising awareness about the benefits of dance and securing resources for programs in schools and community centers will foster creativity and self-confidence among young dancers. Through accessible programs, scholarships, mentorship, representation, community engagement, collaboration, and advocacy, I am dedicated to making a profound impact on the lives of underprivileged young black and brown aspiring dancers. Let us celebrate the transformative power of dance and build a more inclusive world.

Becoming the Montgomery County NAACP ACT-SO gold and silver medalist for modern and contemporary dance stands as my greatest accomplishment to date. This achievement opened doors and provided incredible opportunities that have shaped my perspective and aspirations. One such opportunity was traveling to New Jersey to perform at the opening and closing ceremony of the NAACP ACT-SO awards ceremony, where I had the privilege to showcase the exceptional talent of young black and brown students in the arts. Additionally, this experience led me to the esteemed position of the Lancome Women's Title, further affirming my dedication and talent in the field of dance. Through this journey, I discovered an unwavering commitment to my passion for dance and a resolute belief in my ability to excel. Balancing the demands of being a full-time student and working with my father's company at the Washington Convention Center required immense dedication and sacrifice. Nevertheless, this experience taught me that with effective time management, discipline, and perseverance, I can obtain rigorous training while pursuing my dreams in dance. Looking towards the future, my ultimate aspiration is to become a professional dancer with the renowned PHILADANCO! Dance Company. I am captivated by the opportunity to perform historic choreographic works and to travel the world, inspiring young black and brown students and aspiring dancers. As a professional dancer, I envision myself becoming a beacon of representation and empowerment. I want to use my artistry and platform to challenge the status quo, break down barriers, and inspire young individuals to embrace their passion for the arts. By sharing my personal journey and experiences, I aim to demonstrate to young black and brown students that they too can achieve greatness in the performing arts, regardless of societal limitations. Moreover, I am committed to advocating for diversity, inclusivity, and equity within the dance industry. I hope to collaborate with organizations and initiatives that strive to provide greater access and opportunities for young dancers from marginalized backgrounds. Through community outreach programs, workshops, and performances, I aim to uplift and amplify the voices of young artists, helping them realize their full potential and providing them with the tools and support needed to succeed. Furthermore, I envision using my global platform as a professional dancer to create transformative change. I aspire to collaborate with international dance companies, cultural institutions, and educational programs to bring the beauty of dance to diverse communities around the world. By showcasing the richness of our shared humanity through movement, I hope to inspire unity, understanding, and empathy among people from different backgrounds and cultures. In summary, the experience of becoming the Montgomery County NAACP ACT-SO gold and silver medalist was a turning point in my life. It instilled in me a profound belief in my abilities and reinforced the importance of perseverance and dedication. As I move forward, I am committed to pursuing my dream of becoming a professional dancer with PHILADANCO! Dance Company. Through my artistry, advocacy, and global collaborations, I hope to inspire young black and brown students and dancers, break down barriers, and contribute to a more diverse and inclusive dance community.
