Maggie's Way- International Woman’s Scholarship
Malgorzata “Maggie” Kwiecien was an exceptional individual who overcame various challenges to become a rising star in her profession. Her story is an inspiration to me, as someone who has also faced several obstacles in life.
Growing up in a single-parent household in Jamaica, I was often faced with financial and emotional struggles. However, I never let those challenges hold me back from achieving my goals. Like Maggie, I too am determined and persistent, and I believe that with hard work, anything is possible.
Maggie's fearlessness in the face of physical challenges resonates with me, as I have always enjoyed pushing myself physically. I am an active member of several extracurricular clubs and organizations, including the Girls Brigade Company and the Technovators Club. Through these groups, I have developed my leadership skills, and I am not afraid to take on new challenges.
Like Maggie, I am also intellectually curious and enjoy engaging in debates and discussions on various topics. I believe that education is the key to success, and I have always been passionate about learning new things. I have maintained a high GPA throughout my academic career, and I am committed to continuing my education in the fields of chemical engineering and international marketing.
However, Maggie's story also reminds me of the importance of taking care of oneself, both physically and mentally. Her battle with stomach cancer is a reminder that life is fragile, and we should cherish every moment. As someone who has struggled with mental health issues, I understand the importance of self-care and seek to prioritize my well-being. Through my education and future career, I hope to make a positive impact on the world. I aspire to use my skills and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of those who face challenges similar to mine. I believe that by working hard, staying curious, and being kind, I can honor the legacy of exceptional individuals like Malgorzata “Maggie” Kwiecien and make a meaningful contribution to society. In conclusion, while I may not have faced the exact same challenges as Maggie Kwiecien, her story has inspired me to continue pushing forward, no matter the obstacles I may face. Through my studies in chemical engineering and my passion for education, I hope to make a positive impact on the world, just as Maggie did in her career as an engineer. Maggie's story has also taught me the importance of facing challenges with determination and courage. Her battle with cancer was undoubtedly difficult, but she never gave up and continued to fight until the end. This mindset is something that I plan to carry with me as I pursue my education and career goals.

CEW IV Foundation Scholarship Program
Throughout history, societies have struggled to respond to the problems faced by the disadvantaged. Poverty, discrimination, and inequality continue to be pervasive issues that affect millions of people around the world. While many efforts have been made to address these problems, it is clear that there is still much work to be done. In my opinion, it is necessary for society to change its way of responding to these issues in order to create a more just and equitable world.
One of the main reasons why I believe this is necessary is because the current approach has not been effective in achieving meaningful change. While there have been some successes in reducing poverty and increasing access to education and healthcare, there are still far too many people who are left behind. In many cases, the solutions proposed by governments and NGOs have been piecemeal and insufficient, failing to address the root causes of these issues.
Another reason why I believe that society needs to change its way of responding to the problems of the disadvantaged is because the current approach can be dehumanizing and stigmatizing. Many of the programs and policies that are in place are designed to address the needs of people in poverty or other marginalized groups. However, these programs can often be paternalistic and disempowering, treating people as passive recipients of aid rather than active agents of change.
A more effective and humane approach would be to work with communities and individuals to develop solutions that are tailored to their specific needs and circumstances. This could involve empowering people to participate in decision-making processes, providing them with the resources and tools they need to make positive changes in their lives, and creating opportunities for them to build their own capacity and skills.
In addition to being more effective and humane, a new approach to responding to the problems of the disadvantaged is also necessary because of the changing nature of the world. Globalization and rapid technological advancements have brought about significant shifts in the way that societies are organized and how people live their lives. As a result, the challenges that people face are becoming more complex and multifaceted. In order to address these challenges, it is necessary to adopt a more comprehensive and integrated approach that takes into account the interrelated factors that contribute to poverty, inequality, and discrimination.
In conclusion, I believe that it is necessary for society to change its way of responding to the problems of the disadvantaged. The current approach has been ineffective in achieving meaningful change and can be dehumanizing and stigmatizing. A new approach that is more effective, humane, and comprehensive is needed in order to create a more just and equitable world. This could involve empowering people to participate in decision-making processes, providing them with the resources and tools they need to make positive changes in their lives, and creating opportunities for them to build their own capacity and skills. By working together in this way, we can create a society that is more inclusive, equitable, and just for all.
Eco-Warrior Scholarship
In today's world, it is essential to make intentional choices to live sustainably. Every day, we see the devastating effects of climate change on our planet, and it is up to each of us to do our part to reduce our carbon footprint and live more sustainably. For me, this means making conscious choices in my daily life to minimize waste, reduce energy consumption, and make environmentally-friendly decisions.
One of the intentional choices that I make to live sustainably is to reduce my plastic consumption. I carry a reusable water bottle with me wherever I go, and I use cloth bags for grocery shopping instead of single-use plastic bags. I also avoid buying products with excessive packaging and try to buy products made from sustainable materials whenever possible.
Another way that I strive to live sustainably is by reducing my energy consumption. I make sure to turn off lights and unplug electronics when they are not in use, and I try to limit my use of heating and air conditioning to conserve energy. I also walk or bike to nearby destinations instead of driving when possible, which not only reduces my carbon footprint but also helps me stay active and healthy.
In addition to these individual actions, I also believe it is important to be an advocate for sustainability in our communities and society as a whole. This means supporting environmentally-friendly policies and initiatives and encouraging others to make sustainable choices in their own lives. For example, I have participated in beach cleanups and climate rallies and have written to my elected representatives to express my support for environmental legislation.
Reducing our carbon footprint is important because it has a direct impact on the health of our planet and the well-being of future generations. Climate change is already causing extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and the loss of biodiversity, and it will only continue to worsen unless we take action to reduce our carbon emissions. By making intentional choices to live sustainably, we can help mitigate the effects of climate change and create a more livable planet for ourselves and future generations.
Moreover, reducing our carbon footprint also has significant economic benefits. By investing in renewable energy sources and sustainable technologies, we can create new jobs and industries, boost economic growth, and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. It also helps to reduce the costs associated with environmental damage and climate-related disasters, which can have a significant impact on both individuals and society as a whole.
In conclusion, living sustainably requires intentional choices and a commitment to making environmentally-friendly decisions in our daily lives. By reducing our plastic consumption, conserving energy, and being advocates for sustainability, we can help reduce our carbon footprint and create a more livable planet. It is important to remember that the choices we make today will have a direct impact on the health of our planet and the well-being of future generations, and we all have a responsibility to do our part to create a more sustainable future.
Eleven Scholarship
As a high school student, I always considered myself a diligent and hardworking individual. I had a clear vision of my future and was confident that my academic achievements would pave the way for success. However, during my junior year, I encountered a setback that challenged my perspective and forced me to reassess my approach to success.
At the beginning of the school year, I enrolled in a rigorous course load that included several Advanced Placement (AP) classes. I was determined to excel in these classes and prove my academic prowess. However, as the year progressed, I found myself struggling to keep up with the demanding workload. I would spend hours each night studying and completing assignments, only to receive disappointing grades on exams and essays.
The experience was disheartening and demoralizing. I had always considered myself a strong student, and the realization that I was struggling in these classes shook my confidence. I began to doubt my abilities and question whether I was truly cut out for the academic rigor of college.
Despite these setbacks, I refused to give up. I turned to my teachers and peers for support, seeking guidance on how to improve my performance. I spent hours each week in tutoring sessions, studying with classmates, and seeking extra help from my teachers. I even reached out to alumni of my high school who had taken these courses to gain insights into how they had succeeded.
Through hard work and dedication, I gradually began to see improvements in my grades and performance. I learned to manage my time more efficiently, to prioritize assignments based on their importance and deadline, and to seek help when I needed it. By the end of the school year, I had not only passed my AP exams, but I had also gained a newfound sense of resilience and determination.
Looking back on this experience, I realize that the setbacks and challenges that I faced ultimately taught me valuable lessons that have been instrumental in my later success. Firstly, I learned that failure is not a reflection of my inherent abilities, but rather an opportunity for growth and improvement. It is natural to encounter obstacles and setbacks, but it is through perseverance and dedication that we can overcome them.
Secondly, I learned the importance of seeking help and support from others. In the past, I had often been reluctant to ask for assistance, fearing that it would make me appear weak or incompetent. However, the support that I received from my teachers and peers during this challenging time was invaluable. It taught me that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and that we all benefit from the guidance and support of others.
Lastly, I learned the importance of self-reflection and adaptability. In the face of a challenge, it is easy to become discouraged and lose sight of our goals. However, by taking the time to assess our strengths and weaknesses and adjust our approach accordingly, we can overcome even the most difficult obstacles.
In conclusion, the challenge that I faced during my junior year of high school was a difficult and humbling experience. However, it taught me valuable lessons that have been instrumental in my later success. Through perseverance, dedication, and a willingness to seek help and adapt my approach, I was able to overcome this setback and emerge stronger and more resilient than ever before. I am grateful for this experience, as it has taught me that even in the face of adversity, we have the power to overcome and achieve our goals.

It means taking action to address the challenges that we face as a society and to create a better future for ourselves and future generations. I am deeply committed to creating an impact in everything that I do, and one experience that stands out to me is when I organized a fundraiser for a local animal shelter.

People from all over the community came to support the cause, and we raised a significant amount of money that we donated to the animal shelter.
The experience taught me that even small actions can make a big difference. It also taught me the power of collaboration and community. By working together and leveraging our collective resources and networks, we were able to create a meaningful impact that will have a lasting effect on the lives of the animals at the shelter.

Xavier M. Monroe Heart of Gold Memorial Scholarship
Life is unpredictable, and sometimes we are faced with unexpected challenges that can turn our world upside down. One of the most challenging moments of my life was during my final exams when my mother had an accident. It was a setback that tested my resilience, but ultimately, it taught me valuable lessons that have influenced my approach to life.
The accident happened in the middle of my exams, and it was a critical time for me as I was preparing to graduate from high school. I felt overwhelmed and torn between my responsibilities as a daughter and my academic goals. It was a time of uncertainty and emotional turmoil, and I found it difficult to focus on my exams.
However, in the midst of this challenge, I learned the importance of resilience and perseverance. I realized that obstacles can be opportunities for growth and that the only way to overcome them is to stay focused and determined. I knew that giving up was not an option, and I had to find a way to balance my responsibilities.
I learned to prioritize my time and manage my emotions effectively. I made a plan that allowed me to be present for my mother while also studying for my exams. I sought help from my teachers and friends, who offered their support and encouragement. I also learned to communicate my needs and boundaries effectively, which helped me to maintain a healthy balance between my personal and academic life.
The experience taught me that setbacks and failures are not the end of the road. Instead, they are opportunities for growth and development. It also taught me the value of community and the importance of asking for help when needed. I realized that I am not alone in my struggles, and that reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
As a result of this experience, I have become more resilient and adaptable. I have learned to approach challenges with a growth mindset and to focus on the lessons that can be learned from them. @normandiealise #GenWealth Scholarship
Generational wealth is often defined as the accumulation of assets, property, and investments passed down from one generation to the next, providing financial security and opportunities for future generations. To me, generational wealth means creating a legacy of financial stability, freedom, and empowerment that can benefit my family and future generations.
Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the impact of financial instability on families and communities. I saw how financial insecurity could limit opportunities, create stress and anxiety, and perpetuate cycles of poverty. This inspired me to learn more about financial literacy, investments, and wealth-building strategies, with the goal of creating generational wealth for myself and my family.
One of the key strategies for building generational wealth is investing in assets that appreciate in value over time, such as real estate, stocks, and mutual funds. I plan to start investing as early as possible, focusing on building a diversified portfolio that can provide long-term growth and stability. I will also seek out mentors and advisors who can guide me in making informed investment decisions and provide insights into the financial industry.
Another strategy for building generational wealth is creating multiple streams of income. In addition to my career, I plan to explore entrepreneurship opportunities, such as starting a business or investing in a startup. This can provide additional income, build assets, and create opportunities for future generations to build on.
I also believe in the importance of financial education and empowerment. I plan to share my knowledge and experiences with my family and community, helping them develop financial literacy skills and providing them with resources and tools to build their own wealth. This can create a ripple effect of financial empowerment, helping to break the cycle of poverty and creating opportunities for future generations.
Furthermore, I believe in the importance of giving back to my community and using my wealth to make a positive impact in the world. I plan to support charitable causes and organizations that align with my values, using my wealth to create a better future for those who are less fortunate.
In conclusion, generational wealth means creating a legacy of financial stability, freedom, and empowerment that can benefit my family and future generations. I plan to achieve this by investing in assets that appreciate in value, creating multiple streams of income, sharing my knowledge and experiences with my community, and giving back to those in need. I believe that by taking a proactive and strategic approach to wealth-building, I can create a brighter future for myself and those around me.

McClendon Leadership Award
Leadership is a term that we hear a lot in our everyday lives, but what does it really mean? To me, leadership means taking charge, setting a positive example, and inspiring others to achieve their full potential. It means being able to guide and motivate a group of people towards a common goal, while also demonstrating empathy, integrity, and humility.
Leadership is important for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it helps to build strong and effective teams. A good leader is able to bring together individuals with different skills, backgrounds, and perspectives, and create a cohesive unit that is able to accomplish great things. When people feel like they are part of a team and that their contributions are valued, they are more likely to be motivated and engaged, which leads to better outcomes.
Secondly, leadership is important because it helps to create a positive organizational culture. A leader who embodies the values of the organization, and who demonstrates a commitment to ethical and responsible behavior, sets the tone for the entire team. When people feel like they are part of a culture that is supportive, inclusive, and respectful, they are more likely to be satisfied with their jobs and to perform at a high level.
Finally, leadership is important because it helps to create a sense of purpose and meaning. When people feel like they are working towards something that is important and that makes a difference in the world, they are more likely to be motivated and engaged. A good leader is able to communicate a clear vision and to inspire others to work towards that vision, even in the face of obstacles and challenges.
In my own life, I have had the opportunity to witness the power of good leadership. When I was in high school, I was part of a student-run club that focused on community service. Our club was successful because we had a leader who was able to bring together students with different interests and backgrounds, and who was able to create a culture of inclusivity and respect. Our leader was always available to listen to our ideas and concerns, and he was always willing to take the time to explain why certain decisions were being made. He was able to motivate us to work hard and to make a difference in our community, and he set an example of integrity and dedication that we all admired.
In conclusion, leadership is a crucial element of any successful organization or team. It helps to build strong and effective teams, creates a positive organizational culture, and inspires people to work towards a common purpose. As I move forward in my academic and professional career, I hope to continue developing my own leadership skills, so that I can inspire others and make a positive difference in the world.

As someone who has witnessed the impact of financial independence, I firmly believe that the ability to support oneself financially is one of the most empowering and life-changing experiences an individual can have. Financial independence provides individuals with the freedom to pursue their dreams, make their own choices, and live life on their own terms. A career in STEM, in particular, can offer significant financial stability and career growth opportunities, which can further enhance one's ability to support themselves.
One of the primary benefits of financial independence is the sense of security it brings. When individuals can support themselves financially, they no longer have to worry about basic needs like food, shelter, and clothing. This sense of security enables individuals to focus on personal growth, pursue their passions, and take risks without fear of failure. Additionally, financial independence provides individuals with the flexibility to make decisions that align with their personal values and beliefs, without being beholden to others.
Another benefit of financial independence is the ability to give back to society. With financial stability, individuals can contribute to their communities through charitable donations or volunteering. They can also provide support to their family members, which can help break the cycle of poverty and create generational wealth.
A career in STEM can be an excellent pathway to financial independence. STEM careers are in high demand and often offer competitive salaries, benefits, and job security. Additionally, STEM professionals have the potential to create innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges, from climate change to healthcare. By pursuing a career in STEM, individuals can not only support themselves financially but also make a positive impact on society.
Moreover, a career in STEM can provide individuals with opportunities for career growth and professional development. STEM fields are constantly evolving, offering individuals the chance to stay on the cutting edge of technology and science. STEM professionals can also pursue advanced degrees and certifications, which can lead to higher salaries and increased job opportunities.
In conclusion, the ability to support oneself financially is crucial to personal growth, freedom, and overall well-being. A career in STEM can be a powerful tool for achieving financial independence, as well as making a positive impact on society. By pursuing a career in STEM, individuals can unlock a world of possibilities and opportunities for personal and professional growth, making their dreams a reality.

This program provided a safe and welcoming space for young people to connect, share their experiences, and find support. I was amazed by the impact this program had on the lives of its participants, and it inspired me to continue working toward creating a more inclusive and accepting world.

I organized food drives and fundraising events to help provide basic necessities to those in need. Through these experiences, I learned that even small acts of kindness can have a profound impact on someone's life.

Leadership is a notion that is contested and complex, but being a leader is not always about having a title or a position but it includes having the ability and mindset to lead and handle the situation in a proper manner. Leaders often influence others and are accountable to an organization. leadership can be seen as a full-time job to others but to a firm leader, it is the mindset and joy that comes with it to get others to be involved both in school, church, home, and work, but for me, you may ask, what makes me a good leader is that not only do I hold my position but I believe that we should assist others needs before ours, listen and provide good feedback to those affected by problems and motivate our peers. With being involved in my school I hold roles such as President, vice president, class monitor, and student council secretary just to name a few but in my community, I am a part of an organization that volunteers at children's homes and infirmaries along with being involved in community service in my home by volunteering care packages to the unfortunate elders or families living in the surrounding areas. Building an inspiring vision and setting a direction is what leadership is about.

When you achieve financial freedom, you are able to comfortably afford not only your necessities but also goals, needs, and experiences that make money not a restriction,
but that doesn't mean you have to be rich to be financially free but Instead, what it takes to reach financial freedom depends on your income, debt, savings, spending patterns and values. It's important, though, to meet certain universal milestones, such as paying all bills on time and having enough saved for emergencies before you can truly live without feeling anxious or having to rethink about spending money.
A key purpose of financial freedom is Instead of taking out loans to afford big purchases or paying for school or appliances, financial freedom means you're able to save up cash and make those purchases without any reliance on debt. You're spared the interest rates and payment schedules brought by debt, keeping more of your monthly income in your bank account.
The ways we can achieve financial freedom in the future is by Putting bills, savings, and investing on autopilot: this means Harnessing control of your money becomes much easier when you use autopay for as many bills and transfers to savings as possible. You can focus on family, friends, work, and play while knowing important tasks are taken care of in the background. That includes signing up for deductions from your paycheck for your workplace-sponsored retirement account. You can also consider choosing target-date funds as retirement vehicles if they're available at your workplace, which automatically rebalances your investments as you age.
Pick a budgeting method: You won't be able to pay bills and save at the same time if you're not sure where your money is going or if you continuously take cash out of your saving. Budgeting doesn't mean you should be restrictive but you can start, for instance, by assigning a flexible percentage of your income to needs, wants savings, and debt payoff using the 50/30/20 rule. Or pick from among a range of other budgeting options, and go with the one you're likely to stick to.
Get help: Starting to budget and get rid of debt from scratch is hard, and many of us didn't learn how to do it in school or from parents or elders who could teach us. There are several ways to get help such as certified financial planners, credit counselors, and even online from resources like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Regularly monitor—but don't obsess over—your finances and credit: Keep an eye on your income, savings, debts, and credit score daily. Try using free tools available online, such as an app like Personal Capital or the NCB BANKING, that gives you an overview of all your account balances and net worth.
In Conclusion, don't let tracking finances take over your life. One of the main markers of financial freedom is the ability to focus on the things that matter without feeling consumed by money or greed.
Social Change Fund United Scholarship
The words"UP YOU MIGHTY RACE, YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH WHAT YOU WILL" were spoken by the Jamaican national hero and activist Marcus Garvey who empowered the black community in the late 1900s . The black community has been a constant victim of racism, prejudice, violence, lack of social, economic, and political resources. These factors have generated psychological pressure and have harmed the members of this community in a gradual way not only socially, but psychologically as well.
Therefore the social problems that afflict the African American society have harmed their mental health. Directly, we can state that a utopian way to solve these problems and allow improvements in the mental health of these people would be the total and definitive extermination of racism and prejudice in the American society. This is because racism and prejudice are the main sources of the problems that black people go through and that affect their mental health.
Thus, a society where blacks are free, have all their rights guaranteed, and are treated equally without being judged by their skin color and would be an ideal society where even the white community would be favoured.
In conclusion, For that to happen, a long way must be traveled, as racism and prejudice is something that is deeply rooted in modern society, but that must be fought by everyone every day.

Having the drive courage and patience to try or get things done are good traits to have in a time like this, WHY? you may ask, well it helps you to be open and adapt easily to the everyday changes in the world.
I am always grateful for the opportunity to meet people and talk to them easily because they often make me a good person or allow me to realize a few things. In my seventeen years of life in this world, people who talk a lot like to express more than individuals that listen more. Having these characteristics as a teen may help me on my journey to overcome a few obstacles or teach me some valuable lessons and without patience, you’ll likely succumb to the shiny-object syndrome, where you chase around the next big thing continuously but never stick with anything long enough to reach your goals and The clearer you can be on why you are doing something, the more driven you will remain through the difficult and challenging times that you’ll inevitably face on your journey and lastly, Far too often I see people fail to reach their potential because they’re afraid or they keep doubting their self. They aren’t afraid of the growth, but they’re afraid of taking the risk that they might fail at something, especially when it’s in public, at a workplace, or on social media. This fear prevents them from truly committing to and achieving their goals. When you are humble, you approach life with openness and flexibility and You are not afflicted by the search for happiness or success for yourself alone, because your main focus is not about trying to be successful or happy but Instead, you are caught up in projects, passions, people, and things you consider bigger and more important than yourself, and from this, you end up with more happiness and success, as a simple byproduct. The surest path to becoming happy and successful in life is in helping others to achieve the happiness and success they desire. To experience happiness and that deep sense of well-being and satisfaction with who you are, what you are doing, and who you still desire to become, you must contemplate daily what it means to be authentic. You must be committed and deliberate in your search to challenge yourself, to face fears, to be good to others, and to be the conscious creator of the wholeness of your overall life experience.
