WinnerI chose this career path for two reasons. 1 I'm vegan, and I've been vegan for 3 and a half years now, I went vegan to fix my high blood pressure and fatigue and it worked extremely well and I want to learn all I can about nutrition so I can share it with others. 2 my mother works for Cone health and used to take me to work with her when I was little and she couldn't get a sitter. So I've been exposed to the environment of a medical clinic and office space since I can remember. I feel very comfortable in the setting and it is great to work in that field so I can work 1 on 1 with patients, run lab reports, and process data. What influenced me to eat a whole food plant-based diet was reading books by Colin T Cambell who I am now a huge fan of. His books the China study, Future of nutrition, and WHOLE all sparked my curiosity for nutrition science I hadn't been exposed to information about alkalines, enzymes, good bacteria, and prebiotics. All this science fascinated me and I found myself researching things on other aspects of diet and health in my free time. I read his books because I wanted to fix my health issues with my blood pressure and low energy. It vexed me how at 15 I was tired all the time, had gut issues and received a not-great blood report when I visited the doctor for my annual check-up. I tried keto and fat-free but it didn't help. I'm also pursuing health science since blood pressure and diabetes run in my family. So I really want to learn all I can since I fixed a lot of my health problems through the diet model I learned from Colin Cambell's books and to help my family so they don't have to spend thousands on treatments and surgeries that don't fix the issues. I actually love being vegan, food tastes better, I can smell better, I get sick way less, I have more energy and I like contributing to lessening the burden of animal agriculture by not paying for animal products. My goal is to get a doctorate, master's, and bachelor's in Dietetics and to get a job at a clinic so I can work directly with patients as well as work in lab studies and research projects.
