Hello, my name is Arbine Ryan, and I have completed my AS degree from QCC with a concentration in Health Science. I will transfer to Queens College next semester to complete my bachelor's degree. Furthermore, my goals are to take the MCAT exam, apply for Medical School, and solve world problems. My strengths are working hard, taking the initiative, and helping others to succeed. My weaknesses include a lack of judgment and keeping my emotions in check. Over time I would like to improve these areas and continue being the best version of myself.

Michael Rudometkin Memorial Scholarship
Throughout my life, I have been taught to be humble and treat others with respect. At first, I thought to myself what was the need to help others if they are not going to remember you. Later on, I realized that our society is divided and there is hatred going on all across the globe. Now, I am keen on helping others through a specific process. My intention is to bring change and inspire others on their journey however, it has to be done through a proper plan.
Additionally, I have embodied selflessness on numerous occasions such as sending scholarship opportunities to my peers and helping out whenever it is required of me. In the past, I have helped students with some courses and it has benefitted them in the long run. Also, I open the door for people in my building.

Bold Deep Thinking Scholarship
The biggest problem the world is most likely facing now is climate change along with the delta variant which looks more transmissible. It is extremely important to get vaccinated and play our part in society that way we can ensure there will be no lockdown, restrictions, and remote learning which is not the proper way of learning. This is 2nd issue that the world is facing right now because it started approximately 1-2 years ago. Climate change remains an challenge for the world especially, the United States. It is bad for our earth if we have polluted air so as citizens it is our job to address this issue and act responsibly. Additionally, we can solve this issue by using our car less often, riding the bus less often, and walking.

Act Locally Scholarship
Ever since my parents immigrated from Bangladesh to the US, they envisioned that their lives would be perfect. The day I was born was extremely special to them and they will cherish this moment deep down in their hearts. In addition, they have raised me with utmost care and affection which is why nothing terribly bad has happened to me. Some of the issues in our country today are racism, climate change, billionaires stealing money, and lying, and the list continues from there. There is no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed all of our lives in a very dramatic manner such as having to adjust to health protocols like wearing a mask, washing our hands for 20 seconds, social distancing, avoiding large crowds especially parties. 2020 was obviously the worst year for many families since we lost our loved ones and having to make hard decisions that have impacted us emotionally, physically, and mentally.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
Throughout my academic life, I was placed in Iep due to my learning disability from a very young age and it has stayed with me for quite a while. When I entered middle school my mental health was alright however, my peers constantly picked on me and it did negatively impact me but it was important to understand that having a backup is necessary especially during these tough times. It was obvious that my personality doesn't match with others since they are extremely cunning, flexible, and self-centered.
Furthermore, as time passed I was making huge improvements from 9th grade to 12th grade in my grades and attendance which was a huge accomplishment. My experience with mental health has changed my views and perspective a lot different than in the past. In the past, I used to think that people were always judging me based on my skin color, gender, and ability to perform as a normal individual but now is slightly different. I don't really think that much about this issue but it does come back to haunt me. My biggest fear is communicating with strangers or new people on the street because I don't really know them that well. The transition from high school to college was nerve-wracking but luckily I received support from my advisor, career advisor, and faculty from campus along with my parents.
Lastly, my experience with mental health allowed me to understand myself better where I can work at my own pace and make connections through remote learning. To be honest, my first two semesters were tough and my mental health was not in its best shape but that didn't stop me from making sacrifices and giving my best shot at earning decent grades along with being involved outside the equally important classroom.
SkipSchool Scholarship
Did you know that Albert Einstein was not only a scientist but a theoretical physicist as well? He was considered one of the greatest of all time for his intelligence and creativeness. In addition, at the moment he is my favorite scientist because he made important contributions to the development of quantum mechanics.
Pandemic's Box Scholarship
The pandemic has impacted my life in a positive way by allowing me to reflect on my past errors and move forward. There is no doubt that this pandemic has taken away my opportunity to experience life on campus, however, that has not stopped me from working hard in all of my classes and attending enrichment activities. Also, my role has been fairly simple that is to perform well academically and outside of the classroom which is critical.
In other words, this pandemic has taught me to never take anything for granted because life is extremely short and time is limited so it is important to use time wisely. Over time it is my intention to improve myself as a person because money is not everything. My parents have taught me to stay humble, honest and show affection for others in my community, and third world countries. Furthermore, Covid-19 not only has impacted my family but other families as well. In order to prevent the spread of the pandemic, we have to work together and keep our differences aside. So, there are many positives to take from this harsh experience. Lastly, as a college student, I understand the importance of working on my career development while pursuing my associate's degree in Engineering Science.
Charles R. Ullman & Associates Educational Support Scholarship
Did you know that being an all round person is far better than being an academic person? Throughout my 12 years of schooling life I have envisioned the importance of getting involved in my community. Although, I haven't been to get involved as much due to particular reasons such as, academics, family responsibilities, club responsibilities and other commitments. In the future I intend to contribute to my society and connect with more people because I tend to stay away from strangers however, there will be a time where I have to connect with individuals across the world so, the skills I am learning now from my classes are vital. Furthermore, to be honest I haven't been able to get involved in my community that much but I protect my community by not littering, donating if I am get permission from my parents and if I am able to. I was able to participate in extracurricular events in my first semester at QCC.
On the other hand, I started my 2nd semester and at the moment I am the Vice-president of the Muslim Student Association Club which is a proud moment for me especially, during this pandemic. I plan to help my community by keeping the environment clean, providing aid to poor people and maintaining a positive attitude. Lastly, I was born onto this earth to be educated and serve humanity which is my ultimate purpose in life.
Gabriella Carter Failure Doesn't Define Me Scholarship
When I was small my attendance was always unsatisfactory and I had to deal with criticism from my parents, teachers, staff members. I didn't understand the importance of attending school regularly on time and that led to academic failure however, I was fortunate enough to be promoted to the next grade level which was a huge relief for my parents because they expected a lot from me and I failed to deliver at that time. This bad habit continued in middle school and my freshman year of high school but after that I told myself that enough is enough and I had to change myself otherwise I will not graduate on time which was my focal point. After making extra sacrifices and putting in more effort I was able to improve my attendance. In addition, my grades also started to improve which was satisfying since I didn't perform academically well in 9th grade.
Furthermore, my senior year of high school was my best year due to outstanding attendance with a 100% and decent grades. I am thankful for this failure because it allowed me to think deep and make adjustments which is extremely important in life. It has redirected me in the right direction and influenced me to become a disciplined human being. To be honest I have changed my mindset and lifestyle but everyday is a new day and I am motivated to make the best use out of my opportunity and learn new skills. Lastly, in my opinion hard work along with smart tactics are better than just working hard because if you are not achieving success then your strategy is not effective enough.
Giving Thanks Scholarship
Back in my childhood days I was always cute and jolly however, there was something missing from my life and that is a someone who I can spend time with when I am lonely, or when I am feeling depressed after faltering in school. So, when I was 10 years old my mother was pregnant and we were blessed with a baby girl who is the gift of god. In addition, we named her Inaaya Rahman who was my sister. After looking back at that time I am thankful for having the opportunity to spend time with my sister and creating a special bond with her. Without my sister I would have been more stressed and she always bring joy in my family.
