    Abhi Khune Underrepresented Minorities Scholarship
I am thrilled to apply for this scholarship opportunity, as I am committed to pursuing a career in cybersecurity and making a difference in the tech industry. From a young age, I was fascinated by the world of technology, and as an African American woman, I noticed the lack of diversity in STEM fields. This inspired me to pursue a career in tech and become a role model for other young girls who may not see themselves represented in the industry. One of the pivotal moments in my journey was watching Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds gather information and track criminals down. Seeing a woman use her technical skills to help others in such a meaningful way ignited my passion for using technology to make a positive impact on society. In high school, I enrolled in computer science classes and was introduced to programming fundamentals, which deepened my interest in technology. When choosing a university, I knew that Tennessee State University's Computer Science program was the right fit for me. I strongly believe that cybersecurity is a critical field that can protect individuals and organizations from cyber attacks, while safeguarding the confidentiality of sensitive data. As a freshman cybersecurity student, I am also passionate about educating others on how to avoid cyber threats and handle cyber attacks effectively. This would help to avoid the scammers or any other threats. Hopefully, one day I can create an organization that teaches kids and minorities about tech and the field of cybersecurity. To further my knowledge and practical experience in the field, I have completed relevant coursework, including Computer Programming I & II, Ethics in Computing, and Intro to Computer Science. Additionally, I have participated in hackathons and completed certifications to strengthen my technical skills. In high school, I worked on game development projects, and in college, I developed a simple project known as Hangman . My ultimate goal is to address the flaws in technology and contribute to making it safer and more secure for everyone. With this scholarship, I can continue to pursue my passion for cybersecurity and make a positive impact in the industry. I plan to obtain a new certification (CCertified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)) and pay some of my tuition. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue learning and growing in the field of STEM education. Sincerely, Antoinette Carter
    Minority Students x Stem Scholarship
As a student interested in pursuing a career in technology, I have been inspired by the many innovative products, services, and individuals in the industry. One app that has particularly influenced me is TikTok. This platform has provided me with a wealth of information on topics ranging from food to language learning. The ability to easily access and learn about technology through apps like TikTok has sparked my interest in pursuing a career in this field. While the tech industry has made significant advancements in recent years, there are still many areas where improvements can be made. One of the most pressing issues is the lack of diversity and inclusivity in the industry. It's concerning that women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community are underrepresented in tech. To make a positive impact, it is important to address this issue and create a more inclusive environment that values diversity and empowers everyone to succeed. To promote inclusivity in tech, there are several actions that can be taken. For example, companies can implement diversity and inclusion training, prioritize diverse hiring practices, and create safe spaces for employees to share their experiences and ideas. Additionally, individuals can support and mentor those who are underrepresented in tech, participate in community events and initiatives, and advocate for policies that promote equality and diversity. In my opinion, the tech industry has a social and moral obligation to be inclusive to all consumers. Technology is a ubiquitous and influential part of our society, and its advancements have the power to shape the way we live and work. It is essential that everyone has access to and benefits from the advancements made in this field. Excluding certain groups from the conversation can limit the potential of technology and create further disparities in society. Therefore, this has to be fixed, so everyone can feel that they have a chance in this field. In conclusion, the tech industry is a dynamic and constantly evolving space with immense potential. However, there are still many challenges that need to be addressed, such as diversity and inclusivity. By taking action and creating a more inclusive environment, we can build a stronger and more equitable industry that benefits everyone. As a student eager to contribute to this field, I am committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in technology and to making a positive impact in the industry. Thank you for considering my application . Sincerely, Antoinette Carter
