As a person who thrives on creativity, I enjoy a variety of hobbies, from journaling and crocheting to culinary experimentation and gaming. I find joy in the adventure of cooking and, during the stillness of an evening walk, I capture the breathtaking beauty of the natural world through photography. Additionally, I have a penchant for reading both forensic science literature and thrilling mystery fantasies.
I strive to study, learn, and evolve to become a medicolegal death investigator, and eventually, a forensic scientist. Through diligent study, I seek to grasp the complexities of both medicine and law. By learning, I deepen my understanding of the intricate details of forensic science and its applications. With each new insight, I aim to evolve my skills and knowledge, preparing myself for the challenges of investigating deaths and contributing to the field of forensic science. This journey of growth will enable me to make meaningful contributions to justice and public safety.

Eric W. Larson Memorial STEM Scholarship
As an Asian woman pursuing a career in anthropology and anatomy, I have always been driven by a deep desire to challenge the status quo and break down barriers. Throughout my journey, I have sought not only to advance my technical skills but also to advocate for equal representation and opportunities for women, particularly women of color, in STEM. The Eric W. Larson Scholarship, which honors the legacy of gender and racial equality in STEM, aligns with my values and my mission to create opportunities for others who may face the same challenges I’ve encountered. This scholarship represents an opportunity to further my education and leadership in STEM and, in turn, help bridge the gap in access to STEM resources for students in rural areas like my own.
I grew up in a rural area where financial resources are scarce, and access to quality STEM education is limited. Many of the children in my community, including myself, have had to overcome significant barriers to pursue our interests in STEM. Few local programs offer hands-on experience in fields like robotics or engineering, and many students are unaware of the opportunities that exist beyond our small town. I’ve often found myself searching for resources and guidance that weren’t readily available, and it has been a struggle to access the tools and mentorship I needed to thrive.
Despite these challenges, I’ve remained determined to succeed. I realized that the children in my community deserve the same opportunities as those in wealthier, more urban areas. They deserve access to quality STEM resources, mentorship, and a chance to explore careers that can empower them to reach for the stars. That’s why I’ve taken it upon myself to become a mentor and advocate for the youth in my community, working to provide them with the support they need to pursue their dreams in STEM.
My journey in STEM has been shaped by my commitment to inclusion and mentorship. As a leader in FIRST Robotics for the past four years, I’ve worked to create a supportive and inclusive environment where young girls—especially those from marginalized communities—feel empowered to explore their potential. Through mentoring my peers, I’ve made it my mission to encourage other girls of color to embrace STEM, showing them that they, too, can thrive in a field that often feels out of reach.
I’ve also sought out mentorship from women in STEM who have faced similar challenges, and their guidance has been invaluable in helping me navigate obstacles. By paying it forward, I’ve mentored younger students in robotics and participated in outreach programs aimed at encouraging underrepresented groups to pursue STEM. Through these efforts, I’ve not only gained technical knowledge but also strengthened my leadership abilities and commitment to helping others.
My passion for STEM has only deepened through my involvement in robotics. I’ve always been fascinated by how things work, from the mechanics of simple machines to the complexity of programming robots. FIRST Robotics has been a platform where I could apply my academic knowledge in a hands-on environment, and the experience has been transformative. Working on complex projects with my team, solving engineering problems, and seeing our creations come to life have strengthened my resolve to pursue a career in forensic criminology, where I hope to contribute to solving challenges, particularly those that impact our health as a society.
For me, STEM is about more than just technology—it's about using knowledge and innovation to make the world more equitable. By continuing my studies in STEM, I aim to become an advocate for equity in both education and the workforce. I believe that increasing diversity in STEM is essential not just for representation but for developing truly inclusive solutions that address the challenges marginalized communities face. It is my goal to use my skills to create positive change, from empowering others to solving critical issues that affect vulnerable populations.
Looking ahead, I plan to continue using my education and leadership to support those in need. Whether it’s through developing affordable technologies or mentoring the next generation of women and people of color in STEM, I am committed to giving back. I hope to be a leader in forensic sciences, where I can work on projects that have a direct, positive impact on the lives of underserved individuals and communities. Eric W. Larson’s legacy of advocating for equality in STEM is something I deeply admire, and I aim to continue his work by creating opportunities for others and making STEM a more inclusive and accessible space for everyone.
Receiving the Eric W. Larson Scholarship would provide me with the financial support I need to continue my education and pursue my passion for helping others through STEM. It would allow me to focus on my education and leadership while continuing to advocate for underrepresented students in rural communities. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to apply, and I am committed to using my education to ensure that all students, no matter where they come from, have a chance to succeed in STEM and beyond.
Minecraft Forever Fan Scholarship
Minecraft is more than just a game; it’s a universe of endless creativity and adventure. As players, we each find our unique passions within this pixelated realm. For me, it’s the intricate world of Redstone and the thrill of exploring new biomes and realms. These elements keep my excitement alive with every update, and it’s my pleasure to share why they resonate so deeply with me.
Redstone is like the game’s version of electrical engineering, and I’m absolutely enchanted by it. The sheer versatility of this material is mind-blowing—there’s almost no limit to what you can create! From simple contraptions like hidden doors to complex machines that automate farming, Redstone has a way of making me feel like a true inventor.
One of my proudest creations was a hidden trapdoor that revealed a secret treasure room. I remember the joy of connecting circuits and watching everything come together perfectly. My dad shares this passion; he once built an entire wall around our village complete with working bridges and doors. Watching him bring that project to life was incredibly inspiring. Redstone’s ability to combine logic and creativity is what makes it special to me. It’s not just about building; it’s about engineering your own adventures!
Then there’s the joy of exploration. Each update brings new biomes, and the thrill of discovering them is something I always look forward to. Whether it’s the vibrant colors of a flower forest or the eerie calm of a swamp, each biome tells its own story and offers unique resources.
I love to create houses that blend in with the aesthetic of each biome, using materials found right there. For example, I’ve crafted cozy cottages in the snowy tundra using spruce wood and snow blocks, and I’ve built charming huts in the jungle with bamboo and jungle wood. This approach not only makes my builds feel more immersive but also allows me to appreciate the beauty of each biome in a new way.
One memorable adventure was stumbling upon a lush cave system filled with glowing vines and cascading waterfalls. The sense of wonder as I navigated through these new landscapes is unmatched. Every corner of Minecraft holds a surprise, and that keeps the game fresh and exciting.
In the vast world of Minecraft, my love for Redstone and exploration fuels my creativity and keeps me coming back for more. Whether I’m crafting intricate machines or discovering new biomes, each experience adds to the magic of the game.

Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Math connects us to every aspect of reality, from the acorn in your backyard to the fixtures in a new house. I developed a deep appreciation for math in middle school, where I found my pre-algebra class particularly satisfying. There was something refreshing about its clarity—each problem had a definitive answer, leaving no room for ambiguity. I also enjoyed being part of the 'Math I Cool' club, where we tackled challenging math questions in a competitive yet supportive environment. Even though I might not have been the fastest competitor, I thoroughly enjoyed the process and the camaraderie.
When I transitioned to high school, I was blown away by the subject's depth and complexity. What had once seemed straightforward now revealed layers of intricacy and nuance. It has been challenging to continue after transferring to an online course, but my mother played a significant role in keeping me motivated to continue with the class. Her support was crucial in helping me navigate the complexities and stay engaged with the subject. Math is my foundation, the rock upon which I’ll always build and grow. Though the term 'math' may seem simple, it represents something profoundly vast and fundamental. It builds upon itself, weaving threads into an ever-expanding and intricate system. This evolving nature of math fascinates me, as each concept and principle contributes to a broader, more interconnected whole.

Ever since I realized there was a world outside of my town, outside of my family, I wanted to leave and explore. As I grew, I became more aware that with freedom comes responsibility.
I started working at 12 years old for my neighbor Daniel. He is a very extroverted man who is both strongly opinionated and open-minded. He needed someone to dig holes in his yard to find leaking pipes. My father was happy to get me out of the house, so I started digging. After two weeks we found the buggers. Ever since then I would cut his grass, trim his apple tree, and even make sure his hot tub had the right chemicals added. I worked hard to make sure he was satisfied with my work and eventually, when I turned thirteen, he let me work in the field. He had two main farm fields with strong alfalfa. Daniel liked to talk to me about college, telling me about his time studying to be a lawyer, how leaving here was the best experience and he never regretted it. He believes I have what it takes to go to college and become amazing at what I study. Some of the colleges I’m applying to I wouldn’t even be looking at if he hadn’t cheered me on.
My location can make certain activities hard. I am a First Robotics student and participate in researching, designing, creating, testing, and presenting robots! Usually, students are split into these categories and more to divide the work properly, but not us. We have such a small number of students participating that everyone must do a little bit of everything. All the students participate in another sport and 50% of them, including me, participate in all three seasonal sports. I run cross country in the fall, play basketball in the winter, and play softball in the spring. Many students I speak to from larger schools struggle to be accepted into one sport let alone three. One of my top priorities though is the younger kids of my town. I’m currently invested in the next generation of children, guiding them to higher expectations and helping them find their spark. My hope is for these kids to utilize the experiences we can give them and grow into someone they are proud to be.
In my town, high schoolers are told to go to college and reach high but once we graduate that all stops. I can’t name how many kids leave for college and then come back a month later having dropped out from all their classes. They work at the grocery store now. My cousin Mya, the first of our families’ grandchildren to graduate high school. She left for Oregon and 6 months later she came back. It made me question some things. If my amazing, valedictorian, basketball star cousin Mya couldn’t stay in college, how was I supposed to do any different? It scared me but not anymore, I grew up these past three years. With my loving family and their great advice, I learned that this town is a small pin on the map. I understand who I am and who I want to be. I don’t have all the answers, but I will adapt and work hard. Through the highs and lows, I will make a name for myself.
