Bio

After attending BASIS Scottsdale for nearly 10 years, I truly feel that, as one of the best high schools in the United States, BASIS Scottsdale has provided me with a strong sense of challenging core academics, allowing me to be well-rounded and open to various career goals and interests (both personally and professionally) in the future. I graduated from BASIS Scottsdale in May 2024 with High Honors after completing and passing 11 AP classes. I plan on earning my BSN with a minor in Wellness Foundations at Arizona State University and my DNP in anesthesia. I am confident that a career in nursing will allow me to positively impact patients' lives and optimize patient outcomes by providing beneficial and compassionate care in my field. I have placed as a gymnast on "2016 America's Top 100" and enjoy staying active. I also enjoy serving as a member of the National Honor Society and Leadership Committee, Secretary of Key Club and Nurture Her Health, and a Teen Volunteer at HonorHealth in Information Services, the PCCU, and the NICU. My academic interests include nursing, medicine, anatomy, STEM, and health sciences. I also enjoy babysitting, reading, watching forensic and true crime TV shows, and traveling! As a proud teen of two dedicated, inspiring immigrant parents, I want to be part of a career field that I, my family, and hopefully someday my future family will be proud of. I seek to earn scholarships to give back to my family in the same way that I plan to give back to my community. Feel free to contact me via: Email: Anahitantia@gmail.com Instagram: anahita.antia

    Bright Lights Scholarship
After graduating high school in 2024 and completing 11 Advanced Placement exams, I plan on earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Arizona State University. I am confident that a career in nursing will allow me to positively impact patients' lives by providing beneficial and compassionate care in my field. I plan to earn my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in anesthesia. As a nurse anesthetist, I want to provide comfort and care and leave a lasting, constructive imprint on the lives of others, whether they be adults or children. I have always been passionate about healthcare because I value interactions with others. Above all, interactions at HonorHealth give me diverse opportunities for growth and learning, as well as an enjoyable opportunity to prepare myself for a healthcare career and give back to my community. I plan on having a relatively lengthy education path, and coming from Persian immigrant parents of the Zoroastrian religion who have provided me with a comfortable, stable life, I want to give back to them as much as I want to give back to my community. This scholarship would be an enormous help to us, as my parents are choosing to provide for my younger sister and her education path to becoming a veterinarian as well. My Indian culture and Zoroastrian religion have greatly influenced my identity and upbringing. The motto of the Zoroastrian faith is “Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds,” and it has influenced the way I see myself. This three-fold path is the basis for all Zoroastrians and expresses the connection between one’s beliefs, commitments, and actions. I joined HonorHealth with one thought: to provide comfort and care to those who need it. Over time, this thought has led to advocacy, empathy, and kind words being said to patients, which in turn has culminated in selflessly serving the public throughout my volunteer service in all units of the hospital. I am beyond grateful to my school and my community for providing me with invaluable resources and diversity in challenging core academics. This has allowed me to be well-rounded and open to various career goals and interests in the future. I am also inspired every day by my parents' selfless dedication to their children's futures. I have recently begun volunteering at HonorHealth, a nearby, full-service hospital. Since beginning as a summer teen volunteer, I have worked in information services, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit. By assisting with non-clinical tasks, I hope to someday be a larger part of such an encompassing, caring place of work. I plan to continue volunteering at this hospital during the entirety of my senior year of high school, as this is the best entry-level experience I can gain at this age to garner qualifications for my future career in nursing. I aim to seek a role in the nursing field at HonorHealth throughout my college education and experience as well! I am currently researching primary care's role in preventing cardiovascular diseases in postmenopausal women through an internship at Novakovic Family Practice. At ASU, I have my heart set on minoring in social welfare to aid in human rights and relations in the hopes of assisting impoverished groups worldwide. In the future, I wish to advocate for the destigmatization of sexual and reproductive healthcare and education on a comprehensive level. My religion’s motto has progressively grown into my life’s motto, one that I will continue to uphold in the future. Thank you for giving me a chance to apply for such a meaningful scholarship by sharing my plans for the future!

Education makes a difference in one's life as well as in the lives of others. It is the foundation for creating a better future. Most importantly, education is lasting, while money and status can be fleeting. I am a proud teenage daughter of two Parsi parents who have sacrificed many of their life goals to immigrate to the United States. They have ensured me every opportunity to maximize my potential in both my nursing career and my life. Though social norms have steadily progressed, in India, where my parents were born and raised, there continues to be a stigma against women receiving a high education, financial independence, and leadership roles in society. I am blessed to have parents who have inspired me to embrace the opportunities that I have received in life, particularly through my education, and be the progressor of change that millions of women across the globe seek to be a part of. I will graduate from BASIS Scottsdale in May 2024, after completing 11 AP (Advanced Placement) Exams. I plan on earning my BSN at ASU (Arizona State University) in Downtown Phoenix. After working in the SICU (Surgical ICU), I aim to specialize in Anesthesia, by earning a DNP at the University of Maryland. I intend on becoming a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) to have a sense of pride in my career. Additionally, I am confident that a career in nursing will allow me to positively impact patients' lives by providing beneficial and compassionate care in my field. I want to be part of a career field that I, my family, and hopefully, someday my future family will be proud of. In my undergraduate education, I desire to study amongst other passionate individuals interested in personalized mentorship, prestigious internship opportunities, reputable clinical nursing programs, and study abroad initiatives. I want to help shape the very same community that I plan to serve, with a minor in Health Care Coordination, in addition to completing a High School Senior Research Project highlighting primary care in family medicine and its role in preventing cardiovascular diseases, through an internship at Novakovic Family Practice. I further aim to develop an understanding of how healthcare coordination enables me to assist every patient and their family and protect their right to proper treatment. Due to a favorable College-Career balance and a personal touch to caring for patients, by viewing every patient as an individual rather than merely as an aspect of a caseload, I do not doubt that nursing is the career path that I want to specialize in. My main goal is to provide comfort and care and leave a lasting, constructive imprint on the lives of others, in my profession and life. For me, education's purpose is to give back—to myself and others. I want to give back to my Parsi immigrant parents who have provided me with a stable life despite their hardships and sacrifices. I want to give back to them as much as I want to give back to my community, as their dedication has been just as supportive as my school and my community in providing me with invaluable resources for my future. Above all, I strive to use education to better the lives of patients through my nursing profession and specialization.

I plan to make an impact and I am confident that a career in Nursing will allow me to positively impact patients' lives by providing beneficial and empathetic care in my field. My academic interests include Nursing, Medicine, Anatomy, STEM, Biochemistry, and Biomedical and Health Sciences, and I have taken as many of these courses as possible in my high school years to better prepare for my future in the Nursing field. I am beyond grateful to my school and my community for providing me with invaluable resources and diversity in challenging and core academics. This has allowed me to be well-rounded and open to various career goals and interests in the future. I am a proud teenage girl of 2 immigrant parents who have sacrificed to ensure that their children are given every opportunity to maximize their potential, in their careers and their lives. Though social norms have been evolving across the globe, in India, where my parents were born and raised, there is still a stigma against women receiving a high education, and being expected, rather, to take on a domestic role in the household. I am blessed to have parents who have never influenced my upbringing in this way and have provided me with every opportunity to be comfortable and independent in my life. They have sacrificed to ensure that both their daughters receive a proper education in whatever career field they choose. Truthfully, I want to give back to them as much as I want to give back to my community. I have recently begun volunteering at HonorHealth, a nearby, full-service hospital. I aim to seek a role in the Nursing field at HonorHealth throughout my college education and experience as well. Monthly, my family and I aim to volunteer at Food Banks to ensure that those who are less privileged are not deprived of the basic necessity of food. St. Mary's Food Bank and Feed My Starving Children are two of the food banks that I volunteer at with family, friends, and board members. Volunteering and giving back to my community is a core principle of my family and myself. Being raised by selfless, dedicated, and loving parents, I have learned what it is like to sacrifice for the greater good and have faith in the righteousness and virtue of our religion and legacy. Because of my parents' influence, my future goals consist of going beyond providing comfort and care in my career, leaving a lasting, constructive imprint on the lives of others, and leading a life as an individual and as part of a career field that I, my family, and hopefully, someday my future family will be proud of.

Selflessness is the act of putting others before oneself, no matter one's financial circumstances. I embody selflessness through several volunteering activities that I have completed both in and out of school. In school, I have helped organize Coffeehouse events to raise money for the Annual Teacher Fund (ATF) and have helped give back to the teachers that have provided us with the knowledge and guidance needed for our future in education and life. Our Key Club organization, of which I am Secretary, has picked fruit from elderly residents’ homes to donate to those in need. Additionally, we have organized donation drives to raise the money necessary for building homes and providing goods for disadvantaged families around the world. I am extremely lucky to have grown up in a comfortable life and aim to give back to the community that has provided me with this comfort throughout my life. Monthly, my family and I aim to volunteer at Food Banks to ensure that those who are less privileged are not deprived of the basic necessity of food. Food deprivation is a concern worldwide, and I am proud to live in a city that provides food for as many hungry people and families as possible. St. Mary's Food Bank and Feed My Starving Children are two of the Food Banks that I volunteer at with family, friends, board members, and classmates. This act of selflessness brings together communities and groups of people for a larger, worthier cause. I will graduate from high school in 2024 and will earn my BSN. Though I am currently unsure about my specialization in this field, I am confident that a career in Nursing will allow me to positively impact patients' lives by providing beneficial and compassionate care in my field. As either a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Anesthetist, I will aim to build meaningful connections with my patients and will ensure that they feel at ease in any uncomfortable or unordinary situation. My main goal is to provide comfort and care and leave a lasting, constructive imprint on the lives of others, in my profession and in life. For me, life's purpose is about giving back--I want to give back to my Persian immigrant parents of the Zoroastrian religion who have provided me with a stable life despite all their hardships. I want to give back to them as much as I want to give back to my community, as their dedication and diligence have been just as supportive as my school and my community in providing me with invaluable resources for my future. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities that I have been provided with in my life and utilize these resources to my full advantage daily. Volunteering and giving back to my community is a core principle of my family and myself. I volunteer weekly, whether it be at a nearby hospital, at my school, or a Food Bank. Thank you for giving me a chance to share my vision of selflessness and for allowing me to apply for such a meaningful scholarship.
