Hello! My name is Amya Wallace. I consider myself a driven and compassionate individual. My passion for science and medicine ignited at a young age. Inspired by a simple gift—a pink doctor's kit—from my mother, I embarked on a journey that has led me to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor.
As a featured student on CBS's "Students who Shine" segment, I discussed my research proposal on the role of iron in the selective vulnerability of dopaminergic neurons during the onset of Parkinson's Disease under the guidance of a UCLA professor in neurology. I am the Valedictorian with a 4.0UW/5.58W GPA. Some of my notable awards include the Princeton Service Award, the AP Scholar with Distinction Award, and the Cambridge Scholar with Merit Award.
Beyond my academic pursuits, I am deeply invested in serving my community and uplifting others. To name a few, as the President of my school's Key Club chapter, I have spearheaded various monthly community service projects, fostering partnerships with organizations like Joe DiMaggio's Children's Hospital. My leadership extends further as the manager of my school’s BRACE Cadet program, implementing scholarship and secondary learning projects that have positively impacted students district-wide.
In college, I plan to pursue a major in Neuroscience with a minor in Microbiology & Immunology. With aspirations of becoming an anesthesiologist, I feel as though I can make significant contributions to the field of medicine, driven by my innate curiosity, empathy, and determination to make a difference in the lives of others.
