Bio

Hello, My name is Amber Resendiz. I am an aspiring Artist, Animator, Writer, Film maker, and Well-established Comedian (I'm funny.) My dream is to get into CalArts, but in order to do that, I'm gonna need a good amount of money. To be more specific, the amount of money I'm going to need will not be easily accessible to me, and therefore, I'm applying to as many scholarships as I can in the hopes that I can eventually win enough money to pay for two years of tuition without condemning my parents or myself financially.

Not everybody has an idea to create or a story to tell, but we all have a perspective we can share. What is perspective? Perspective, in simple terms, is quite literally the way you and I uniquely view the world. We all have different perspectives. The way we see and understand things influences our beliefs and thoughts. It molds our interests and dislikes, and overall, it makes us who we are. This is why no two people, even if they're identical twins, are the same. I want my art to captivate and exhibit perspective. In today's society, original genuine art is scarce. Most story-creating companies (most notoriously, Hollywood,) focus more on reboots and making as much money as possible. A writer's strike is going on at the moment. Corporations want to replace writers with A. I chatbots, in the hope that they would no longer need to pay writers to write their movies. People nowadays have forgotten how important the power of their perspective is. People fear steering off a generic, safe path, and they've forgotten that storytelling isn't about the money, but about sharing your views and your soul through your work. I am a Hispanic girl coming from a low-income family. I am also an aspiring filmmaker, self-taught artist, animator and screenwriter. I have been through the ups and downs of learning. I've had struggles that have held me back, and I've had opportunities that have allowed me to grow. I want to share my experiences and my emotions with the world through my art, and I'd love to show genuine emotion and understanding through it as well. I'm hoping to also pave a path for others like myself, those who have felt that they would not grow outside their small hometown, those who were discouraged by the fears of their families, and those who have doubted whether or not their heartfelt passion projects were even good enough to share. I want people to embrace their inner selves, and I want people to feel brave enough to share genuine stories like our filmmaking ancestors were confidently able to do a century ago.
