Eras Tour Farewell Fan Scholarship
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour was a nostalgic journey through the evolution of her music and image over the years. From her country roots in the Fearless era to her pop transformation in the 1989 era, fans like me were treated to a spectacular showcase of Swift's growth as an artist. Each era had its own unique aesthetic and sound, with elaborate stage setups and costume changes that reflected the mood of the music. Her lyrics were raw and honest, drawing from her own experiences and emotions. Overall, the Taylor Swift Eras Tour was a celebration of her musical journey and a testament to her enduring talent as a songwriter and performer.
That being said, there were a few particular songs that stood out to me because of their heart wrenching lyrics that I related to in many different ways. For instance, even though it was not specifically sung in the lineup, evermore’s “coney island” was incredibly helpful to me as I was struggling with losing my best friend. The lyrics:
“Break my soul in two looking for you
But you're right here
If I can't relate to you anymore
Then who am I related to?
And if this is the long haul
How'd we get here so soon?
Did I close my fist around something delicate?
Did I shatter you?”
After we parted ways, I realized just how much I relied on her and cared about her, and I blamed it on myself and often asked myself Well, what do I do now that we don’t relate to each other? What did I do wrong? How did I ruin something so important to us? That grief and frustration is a lot of what Taylor was trying to portray in those lyrics too.
Additionally, I really love Midnights’s “Labyrinth.” The lyrics in “Labyrinth” reach deep into my soul also in a sad way that helps me to process my emotions:
“You know how scared I am of elevators
Never trust it if it rises fast
It can't last”
I often find myself struggling to trust anyone or anything because of just how unpredictable everything is and because of how people and things have burned me in the past. Then, you have the repeated phrase “Lost in the labyrinth of my mind,” that reminds me of how much I get lost in my thoughts that can lead to downward spirals. In this song, Taylor reflects on how and why she is afraid of trusting and then realizes Oh shoot! I am falling in love! This isn’t going to end well…
Finally, there is Midnights’s “Mastermind,” which is a pivotal song in her music, where she explains that everything she has done was on purpose. The most important lyrics to me are in the bridge:
“No one wanted to play with me as a little kid
So I've been scheming like a criminal ever since
To make them love me and make it seem effortless
This this the first time I've felt the need to confess
And I swear
I'm only cryptic and Machiavellian 'cause I care”
I relate to this a little too much because I am unfortunately a very manipulative person, and when I really care about someone, I work behind the scenes and put A LOT of thought into how to make them feel loved and cared for, so that they will want to be my friend, because I have had struggles with relationships in the past. I like to think that I am a mastermind just like her.
Spider-Man Showdown Scholarship
Toby Maguire is undoubtedly the best Spiderman for a multitude of reasons. His portrayal of Peter Parker perfectly captures the essence of the character - a nerdy, awkward high school student who gains superpowers and must navigate the responsibilities that come with them. Maguire's emotional depth and vulnerability make his performance truly stand out, allowing audiences to connect with Peter on a deeper level. Maguire's performance as Spiderman was not just about donning a costume and swinging through New York City; it was about exploring the complexities of being a hero while still grappling with personal demons. Additionally, Maguire's chemistry with co-stars such as Kirsten Dunst and James Franco added layers to the character dynamics, making the relationships feel genuine and heartfelt. His performance in the iconic "Spiderman" trilogy directed by Sam Raimi solidified his place as one of the most memorable portrayals of the superhero. Furthermore, Maguire's ability to balance both the comedic and dramatic aspects of Spiderman's character showcases his versatility as an actor. Overall, Toby Maguire's portrayal of Spiderman remains unmatched in its authenticity and emotional resonance, solidifying his status as the best actor to don the iconic red and blue suit.
On the other hand, other actors who have taken on the role of Spiderman bring their own unique interpretations to the character. For example, Andrew Garfield's portrayal focuses more on Peter's wit and sarcasm, while Tom Holland brings a youthful energy and enthusiasm to the role. Each actor brings something different to Spiderman, making their performances memorable in their own right. While Maguire may be considered the best Spiderman by many fans including myself, it is also important to appreciate how each actor has brought something special to the iconic character. Ultimately, it is this diversity in interpretation that keeps Spiderman fresh and relevant for audiences across generations.
Fall Favs: A Starbucks Stan Scholarship
During the fall season, Starbucks customers flock to the popular drinks that embody the cozy and comforting vibes of autumn. The most sought-after beverages include the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte, Salted Caramel Mocha, and for those looking for a non-coffee option, the Caramel Apple Spice. These drinks have become staples in Starbucks' fall lineup, satisfying customers' cravings for seasonal flavors and warmth during the cooler months. As the leaves change colors and the air becomes crisp, there is no better way to welcome autumn than with my favorite, a Starbucks Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam. This delectable drink combines the warm flavors of pumpkin spice with the coolness of iced coffee, creating a perfect balance for the season. The addition of vanilla sweet cream cold foam adds a luxurious touch, elevating this drink to new heights. The creamy texture and hint of sweetness perfectly complement the spiciness of the pumpkin, creating a harmonious blend that is sure to satisfy any palate. Not only does this drink taste amazing, but it also embodies everything I love about fall - cozy sweaters, pumpkin patches, and crisp air. It's like sipping autumn in a cup.
The Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam from Starbucks also holds a very special place in my heart because it too represents the essence of fall in a single cup. The warm and comforting flavors of pumpkin spice mixed with the creamy sweetness of vanilla create a perfect balance that, when I even just think about it, instantly transports me to my favorite cozy autumn days spent sipping on this delicious drink while reading under a warm blanket by the fireplace. Additionally, I work at one of my local Starbucks shops and get to recommend this very drink and see the joy on customers' faces when they taste it, whether for the first time, or as a returning favorite. This beverage has become a character in my own fall narrative, symbolizing the changing seasons and the joy of indulging in seasonal treats. Every sip brings back memories of crisp air, falling leaves, and pumpkin patches, making me feel nostalgic for all the wonderful moments that come with this time of year. The Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam is not just a drink; it's an experience and a tradition that I look forward to every fall, marking the beginning of a new season filled with warmth and happiness.
Cass Mosson Leadership in Music Scholarship
Beginning at just one year old, my favorite thing to do was sing. I would hear my mom singing at church, people singing on television and radio, and all I wanted to do was imitate every one of them. When I was able, I began listening to my dad's music with him, which was mainly hits from the ‘60s and ‘80s that I grew to love. From morning till night, I would experiment in making countless different sounds in an effort to create my own music. My passion for music was only just getting started. A few years later, when I began the sixth grade, I joined both band and choir, absolutely living to experience everything they had to offer. Then, through the high school’s music programs, I continued to discover myself - what kind of person I wanted to be - while also learning the very important art of managing time.
Band and choir have both played a significant role in forming me and helping me discover myself. Through music, I have learned to express my emotions and creativity in ways that words cannot capture. I have always found it difficult to express myself, and this fine arts environment provided me with an outlet for unhindered expression. Many productions allowed me to express myself vicariously through other characters. Additionally, being a part of marching band, concert band, concert choir, chamber choir, and theater has taught me self discipline, teamwork, and the importance of practice and perseverance. I learned the very difficult lesson that not everyone is going to like me at all times, and that I must be okay with that. On the other hand, the camaraderie and friendships I formed within the band and choir programs have provided me with a sense of belonging and support. Most importantly, music has allowed me to explore different aspects of my personality and identity. I have brushed up against an abundance of people’s varying personalities, habits, and ethics, which have all informed and influenced me to decide who, and what kind of person, I want to be.
Similarly, being a part of these ensembles and groups has greatly improved my mental health. From early childhood, I have struggled with anxiety and depression. Music has proven to be a powerful tool in bringing about healing and self-expression. For me, marching band especially has been instrumental in improving my anxiety and depression. The healthy distraction of creating music while collaborating with others has allowed me to escape negative thoughts that often consumed my mind. Also, the sense of community I’ve felt with my fellow musicians has provided relationships and connections that have been essential for my mental well-being, while eliminating feelings of loneliness. On top of that, the discipline and focus required to learn new pieces, movements, and scenes have challenged me to push past my limitations and build confidence in my abilities. Through music, I have found a source of joy and solace that has helped me navigate the darkest moments of my life. I do not know how someone could navigate life without it.

Teachers truly make lasting differences in the lives of their students. My experiences throughout both homeschool and public school have proven this and greatly influenced my desire to become an educator because of the impact teachers make, the joy I find in helping others learn, and the desire to make notable differences in the lives of others. From childhood, I have been passionate about learning.
I have my mom to thank for my wish to become an educator because of how engaging and intentional her teaching style was. I wanted to teach my own children just like she did. In the sixth grade, my mathematics teacher was incredibly sweet and caring. She made each student feel special and successful. She taught students the need to be responsible for their homework, organizational skills, and the outcome of their education. Because of her, I successfully navigated middle school and high school.
Growing up with the same peers, I have seen how our teachers have inspired students, which makes me want to do the same for others. Additionally, I enjoy helping others learn and grasp new academic concepts because the impact is palpable. I understand just how much education shapes individuals' futures, and by pursuing teaching as a lifelong passion, I take seriously the responsibility of molding young minds with care and compassion, and constantly evolving and adapting to new teaching methodologies while remaining steadfast in my values and principles. I am excited to commit to that.
Netflix and Scholarships!
The well-known and loved streaming service, Netflix, holds some world-renowned films and TV shows. In my opinion, the best Netflix TV show available is Stranger Things. Stranger Things, the critically acclaimed Netflix original TV show, has captivated audiences, including myself, worldwide with its nostalgic charm and gripping storyline. Set in the 1980s, the sci-fi thriller masterfully combines elements of horror, mystery, and coming-of-age drama to create a truly unique narrative and viewing experience.
One of the most notable reasons why Stranger Things stands out as the best Netflix TV show is its impeccable storytelling. The Duffer Brothers, the writers of the show, have crafted a narrative that seamlessly weaves together supernatural occurrences with heartfelt character development. Through the eerie backdrop of Hawkins, Indiana, you witness the growth and struggles of characters like Eleven and Will, adding depth and emotion to the otherworldly events unfolding around them. Each episode leaves viewers on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting what will or will not happen in the next episode, and no episode ever disappoints.
Moreover, Stranger Things pays homage to classic 80s movies and pop culture that resonate with both older and younger generations. It includes many of the era’s most popular music charts and well-known clothing styles. The soundtrack features iconic hits from bands like The Clash and Joy Division, while characters sport retro looks such as high-waisted jeans, scrunchies, and “Members Only” jackets. This nostalgia factor adds an extra layer of enjoyment for fans who appreciate the era's aesthetics and iconic films.
Additionally, the show boasts an exceptional and familiar ensemble cast that brings these characters to life. From Eleven's (played by Millie Bobby Brown) enigmatic and impressive powers to Chief Hopper's (played by David Harbour) unwavering determination and willingness to sacrifice himself for the good of the rest, each actor delivers a memorable and heartstopping performance that draws you deeper into their abnormal world.
Finally, the show includes instances of high-level suspense, which makes viewers crave resolution. From the disappearance of Will Byers, one of the dearest characters, to the Upside Down world where all the unfamiliar monsters reside, each storyline keeps viewers very tense and on the edge of their seats. Also, the introduction of Eleven and her mysterious powers adds another layer of unfamiliarity and tension to an already gripping plot.
In conclusion, Stranger Things reigns supreme as the best Netflix TV show due to its compelling storytelling, nostalgic appeal, relatability, talented cast, and suspenseful atmosphere. It has successfully captured my heart and imagination, while leaving me eagerly anticipating the next season, season five. All things considered, I am sure the show will also inspire and entertain many others.
Minecraft Forever Fan Scholarship
Minecraft is an exhilarating game for all types of people. From using your imagination to surviving life-ending events, Minecraft presents never-ending entertainment. The one thing that holds a special place in my heart is what is called speedrunning the game. Speedrunning Minecraft is the art of completing the game in record time. It demands meticulous planning, lightning-fast reflexes, and expert knowledge of game mechanics. From exploiting glitches to optimizing resource acquisition, speedrunning requires you to push boundaries to achieve your goals. It's a thrilling pursuit that showcases the limitless possibilities within the game’s world.
I most enjoy the beginning stages of speedrunning such as slaying animals to acquire food and mining all over the map to acquire resources such as wood for shelter, stone for appliances, sand for glass, ore for weapons, and many others. It is full of suspense and gets your heart beating when you have to fight time to use resources to craft and survive the night. It is also highly rewarding when you get past and achieve it.
Additionally, I love going around and taming animals because I have a passion for animals, and I can explore that passion throughout the game. I usually end up having 10+ pets and a whole farm with animals and plants. My favorites are the ocelot, wolf, and horse, which obviously are pretty standard, but they still resonate most with me.
In my house I like to include as many appliances as possible, which makes a solid crafting table come in handy. The most beneficial appliances, in my opinion, are the stove and chest because they aid in your survival and exploration by providing sustenance and space to store your treasures.
Doing all these things and more in survival mode also earn achievements that are fun to collect. My favorite one on the list is actually considered a secret: the “How did we get here?” achievement. This one is acquired by putting all the potions and ailments on yourself at one time. Not only is this funny, but also hard because of its time constraint.
Overall, Minecraft is a very fun game with its creativity and unlimited possibilities, and everyone should give it a try at some point in their lives.
