Bio

My name is Amanda Cherryholmes, and I am passionate about helping others and leading them to the path of independence. I am working on my Social Worker Degree so that I can become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I founded an organization based out of Lincoln City, Oregon in 2019, called Coastal Support Services, which assists the local homeless population with tailored wrap-around case management as well as provide a drop-in center equipped with a shower, washer & dryer, small food pantry, clothing closet and more. I want to take what I have built and duplicate it in other places around the country. As a single mother of two children, and a part time college student, there isn’t time for falling apart during rough times. I recently relocated after the death of my husband in July 2024 because the mental anguish of being in the same town became too much. Two years prior to that, I lost my brother in a horrific accident that left three people dead. The town itself became a mental prison. I am currently on a path of healing and focusing on my personal goals to reach my own full potential. Time is the one thing that you cannot get back and I have put in over 14,000 hours to gain the skills and experience I need to be a successful licensed clinical social worker. Sleepless nights and angry family members only scratch the surface of the sacrifices made to build a full-service Navigation center with incorporated case management. Please help me to reach my full potential so that I can achieve helping millions of people reach their full potential.

I founded an organization based out of Lincoln City, Oregon in 2019, called Coastal Support Services, which assists the local homeless population with tailored wrap-around case management as well as provide a drop-in center equipped with a shower, washer & dryer, small food pantry, clothing closet and more. For any organization to have the ability to bill state insurance for peer support activities, you have to have a licensed clinical social worker on staff to be in compliance with that State’s insurance company. I want to take what I have built and duplicate it in other places around the country. Achieving my licensed clinical social worker degree is going to help me achieve that goal and turn the thousands of people helped to millions. There are some nights that I can’t sleep until I have written down an idea or drawn up a diagram to get out the puzzle pieces coming together in my head. I know that my purpose is to spread love, light, and help people reach their full potential. By doing so, I am helping myself and addressing my own mental health needs. As a single mother of two children, and a part time college student, there isn’t time for falling a part during rough times. More importantly it’s essential that I have lived experience of trauma, heartache, grief and mental illness because typically people who are experiencing homelessness have one or more of those issues.
