Hello, my name is Alyssa and I am an artist in Moscow, Idaho. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest my whole life and it has had a great impact on my art. I spend a lot of time outdoors, surrounded by the beautiful forests, rivers, and mountains. This setting has given me an appreciation for nature that is very present in my art pieces. Sitting outside and painting or drawing is one of my favorite pastimes during the summer. Nature is my main muse, but I also enjoy exploring a variety of other subjects. My passion for creating art is driven by a desire to share how I see the world. I think it’s especially important in our current society to remind ourselves and others that the world can be a beautiful place.
I have been accepted by the Unversity of Idaho to study Graphic Design starting the fall of 2024.

Hi, my name is Alyssa. I will be majoring in Art & Design at the University of Idaho. My passion for creating art is driven by a desire to share how I see the world. I think it’s especially important in our current society to remind ourselves and others that the world can be a beautiful place.
I picked this painting ("Trees") because I enjoy how it challenged me. Usually, my art pieces are much smaller than this one, and working bigger was harder than I anticipated. I consistently mixed too little paint, which meant I had to do a lot of color matching. After multiple layers, I decided that the colors weren’t working, and I had to rethink the whole painting. When I started, my goal was to encapsulate how I felt when I went on camping trips as a kid. I wanted the scene to express a relaxed and dreamy but bright energy. Instead, the colors felt too dull and harsh. I brought out my iPad and adjusted the colors and values digitally until I had an idea that I liked. After repainting a large portion and adding details, I was happy to realize that I achieved what I wanted from the beginning. With the digital alterations, I learned a new way of solving problems that I will definitely be applying in the future. It was a longer and more difficult process for me but that is ultimately why I am so proud of the finished painting.
