WinnerMy medical conditions have affected my life by not being able to do the same type of things as other kids and it being harder to keep up with everyone which made me feel left out when I was younger. Asthma has always been a big part of my life and it has always affect something, someday it was small and others it was bigger. But I learned to persevere through the challenge that came with it.
To start off with background I got asthma from when i had a respiratory disease as a child called RSV, this caused me to have to go in and out of many different hospitals frequently, which also meant missing school quite a few times to go on these trips to the doctor which put be back a little bit in Elementary School but I worked myself back up again for Middle and High School, like taking more harder class in High School. Asthma also affected my ability to do physical activities, as well as the other kids, like in gym class it was harder for me to keep up with what we’re doing without getting winded super easily. I had to really work hard on my stamina and breathing techniques to be able to keep up with the other kids. when I got a little older, I received an inhaler which helped me be able to control my breathing and help me breathe better when doing a lot of physical activity. this also helped my stamina when it came to dance classes, dance has always been a big part of my life, and has helped me find ways in controlling my asthma. it helped me control my breathing when I did lots of fast movement and my teachers help me know when I needed a break because at some point, I didn’t know when I needed to stop to take breaks so they would tell me and I would learn from them where my limit was, but then as I got older, I grew my stamina up more so I didn’t have to take as many breaks and I could go longer. with my inhaler and different techniques, I learned to control my breathing. My asthma has gotten much better as I’ve got an order.
My goals for the future is to become a respiratory therapist. I want to help kids who are in the same position as I was, and help the parents and families understand what’s going on, because my family was also once in their position as well and having someone who has had a similar experience or the same experience will help them find comfort and what is going on and knowing that it’s going to be okay. Even though what they’re going through is scary I want them to know that they are not alone and that I will be with them through every step of the way. I believe as much as you need to know all of your medical terminology and know everything medically when it comes to RSV you also need to know how the patient and the patient’s family is feeling during this time. Because of my experience I think I would be really good person to help them find comfort and what is going on even though what I went through and what this child is going through maybe different I still have a understanding of how everyone in the situation is feeling.
With all of this information from above I truly hope you consider me for this scholarship. Thank you.
Eras Tour Farewell Fan Scholarship
The Eras Tour has taught me lot but the biggest thing that I have learned is that I have learned how to stand up for myself more and to do what I believe is best. During the eras tour there’s was multiple times where I was going through a lot with old friends and all the surprise songs that she was singing were perfectly lined up with what was going on to me in my own personal life. When listening to these songs be sung live from tiktok live streams I realized i’m stronger than I thought and that I used that strength to help me get through what was going on in my life.
Even though I have been a super fan of Taylor Swift sense 1989 in 2014 I have always listened to her music sense the beginning but 2014 was when I really became a swiftie when i first heard 1989. This album has changed me as a person and in a good way. Having something to relate to even though I didn’t have any experiences to what she had on the album I had my own that i related the songs to. The very first Taylor Swift song I must of listened to would have had to be Our song or Love story. I know 2 very different times when they came out but i was young! Anyways, i loved her music so much that i begged my parents for money at the book fair to buy a book of taylor. And i still have it to this day and love it.
Let’s get back into the Eras Tour now, The Eras Tour has been such a great and amazing experience I have been able to be apart of. Anyone should be grateful that we are living through this time with the Eras Tour. When i’m upset about something or just bored or not feeling my best one day I pull up a video of my own show that I went too of the tour or look up tour videos on youtube to make myself feel better and to help me get into a better mood. The Eras Tour has never failed to be it a smile on my face when I needed it most.
One thing that I have for sure discovered about myself when it comes to tour is that I’m not afraid to be in large groups of people or talk to people when it’s in a crowd that i’m comfortable and feel safe and that’s exactly what the Ears Tour was for me. It was the one place where I didn’t feel supper overwhelmed with Social Anxiety. There was definitely some in the beginning waiting in lines outside but once we got in it was like a whole different universe and a safe and welcoming community of people who are all there to support an artists that they love.
The Eras Tour has help me grow as a person and help me enter my mom self love and self growth when I needed it most. I went through so much my Junior year of High School with many ups and downs and many many tears but being able to have the opportunity to go to the Eras Tour right when summer began for me after school it felt so good to be happy again and feel alive again after a year of such heartache and sadness, stress and feeling alone. The tour didn’t make me feel alone anymore. It made me feel seen and heard and apart of something again.
1989 (Taylor's Version) Fan Scholarship
The songs on my playlist for 2023 with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) would have to be “Now that we don’t talk” and “Wonderland” because for the song “Now that we don’t talk” during my fall semester of my Junior Year I had lost many friends this year and i no longer have to pretend i care about their drama now that we don’t talk. It was a very big fallout because it was with someone who i had been friends with for my entire life and that friend left me for someone who played the victim in the situation of what was going on and denied the facts about what they did even though she knew what she did she still still i was lying and if i said anything that it would ruin her even though she brought it upon herself and had no reason to turn my was best friend at the time against me for saying the truth, i still miss my old best friend to this day because she was there for me through so much and just decided to change her mind about her feelings and opinions on me for 1 thing the other girl was lying and denying about. For wonderland it would have to be because of when i was a kid i have Respiratory Issues which caused me to become a Make a wish kid and i wished to go to Disneyland and i stayed in give kids the world which was based off of Alice and Wonderland. When i first heard this song i thought about that moment and have always resonated the title of the song to the experience not as much of what happens in the song but the title. I always for my 17 birthday I got tickets to see her on June 16 2023 for her Pit n1 show and my surprise songs were “Mr.Perfectly Fine” and “The Last Time”. My parents got these tickets through a ticket master try again for a second chance cause they were so close to getting them the first time around, when the general sale got cancelled i cried my eyes out for weeks on end because i was so said we wouldn’t be able to have another chance to just try to get the tickets. At first i cared more about trying to get them more than actually going at the point because at least we would have tried. But the second chance was the greatest thing to have ever happened to me and I will never forget that night ever in my entire life and I will be forever grateful to my parents who tried so hard to get them for me. I truly hope you consider me for this Scholarship and I have you had a good time reading my essay.
