FinalistBio
My name is Alexandra Monzon. I was born in Manila, a city of the Philippines. My mother and siblings migrated to the U.S. in 2005. I currently reside in Hercules, CA and I graduated from John Swett High School in 2022.
I am currently a first year student at UCLA, majoring in sociology.
My end goal after college is a career surrounding social work as my passion resides in social justice. As a young survivor of abuse, I want to make the world a better place than the world I had to live in as a younger child. I am a social justice warrior for all- not just a feminist, an activist off an on campus. I mentor students from all schools within my community. I aim to make good changes in every institution I touch. I strive for equity and equality. I also mentor young women who have fell in darkness during their childhood to rise against the trauma, and become fierce.
While I am booked with academic activities, I do partake in additional work for a source of income. I work 19 hours a week at Taco Bell and I manage my own upcycling clothing business to combat fast fashion and textile waste. I collect unwanted clothes from my community and resew, distress, and paint new designs on each piece. Iḿ an aspiring tattoo artist. I ride and teach motorcycle training.
