My goal is to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Baking & Pastry and Business Management at The Culinary Institute of America. I enjoy the creativity when it comes to pastries, piping designs on cakes allow me to create edible art. I am not only skilled with a piping bag when I am plating food I can express my artistic view to so many people. I also enjoy being apart of Girl Scouts. I have been a Girl Scout for 13 years, after high school I will have completed all the levels of Girl Scouts. Being in Girl Scouts has taught me proper time management, communication skills and has allowed me to enhance my public speaking. I do credit Girl Scouts for a lot of my achievements and wouldn't be the person I am today without the Girl Scout Organization.

Mental Health Importance Scholarship
Mental health is important because there is so much about the human brain that we still do not know, even with today's advanced technology. In the past, people with mental health issues were mistreated and wrongfully tortured in insane asylums because the general public thought that having mental health issues meant an individual was "crazy." Today, we know that mental health has many factors and signs, and it is crucial to treat and help those in need of mental stability. There is a wide range of mental health issues, including burnout, stress, OCD, schizophrenia, and depression, among many others. It is important to treat people with mental health issues as you would treat someone with any other sickness. Spreading awareness about mental health is essential because some individuals struggle but do not say anything for fear of being judged.
I believe my mental health is important because it affects every aspect of my life, from my studies to my relationships and overall happiness. Maintaining mental wellness is crucial for me to perform well in my demanding studies at the Culinary Institute of America, where I am pursuing degrees in Business, Restaurant/Culinary/Food Services, Baking and Pastry, and Food Business Management. With a GPA of 3.7 as a rising college senior, I know that taking care of my mental health has played a significant role in my academic success.
To maintain my mental wellness, I focus on knowing when I need to take breaks and surrounding myself with people I love. This is especially important to me because I have mental health issues stemming from years of mental abuse by my father. Throughout my life, the people I surrounded myself with helped me get through the hardest times, even though I did not tell anyone about my struggles at the time. As I have gotten older and educated myself about mental health issues, I have learned that the abuse I endured was not my fault and that I deserve to be happy and healthy, just like anyone else.
One way I maintain my mental wellness is by expressing my feelings to the people I love or someone who is willing to listen. Talking about my problems concerning my mental health has been one of the greatest ways to relieve myself of the heartache and pain I have endured. Additionally, working as a seasonal pastry chef at Cedar Lakes Estate every summer has been therapeutic for me. Baking allows me to channel my emotions into something creative and productive. I have had the opportunity to bake for celebrities at weddings and retreats, which has been a rewarding experience that boosts my self-esteem and sense of accomplishment.
In conclusion, mental health is important because it affects every part of our lives, and maintaining mental wellness is crucial for overall happiness and success. By taking breaks, surrounding myself with supportive people, and expressing my feelings, I am able to maintain my mental wellness and continue pursuing my passions and studies.
Combined Worlds Scholarship
Traveling is one of life’s greatest gifts, and it is unfortunate that more people do not get to do it. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the world, which is full of surprises that will never be forgotten. Traveling with the right mindset will always be a challenge for anyone because you are always in the spirit of life. Being exposed to new ideas and cultures is a great way to open your mind to the world, and traveling can inspire you to do something new and exciting for yourself. If money were not a factor in the world, then I feel more people would be able to travel and see the world.
As a rising senior at the Culinary Institute of America, majoring in Business, Restaurant/Culinary/Food Services, Baking and Pastry, and Food Business Management, I have experienced firsthand how travel can be transformative. Every summer, I work as the seasonal pastry chef at Cedar Lakes Estate, a wedding and retreat resort. I have had the chance to bake for some celebrities and even handled all the baked goods for a celebrity wedding on the mountaintop where the estate resides. This experience has shown me how different environments and cultures can shape our perspectives and fuel personal growth.
Traveling exposes individuals to diverse cultures and ways of life, which can broaden one's horizons and foster a deeper understanding of the world. It challenges preconceived notions and helps develop empathy by allowing us to see life from different viewpoints. For instance, working with an international team at Cedar Lakes Estate has taught me the importance of collaboration and adaptability. Each team member brings unique skills and cultural insights that enrich our work environment and enhance our culinary creations.
Moreover, travel encourages personal growth by pushing individuals out of their comfort zones. Navigating unfamiliar places and interacting with people from different backgrounds can build confidence and independence. It also inspires creativity, as new experiences and environments often spark fresh ideas. For me, traveling has influenced my approach to baking and pastry, inspiring me to experiment with new flavors and techniques that I have encountered during my travels.
In conclusion, travel is a powerful tool for personal development. It opens our minds to new cultures, perspectives, and environments, fostering empathy, creativity, and a broader understanding of the world. As someone passionate about the culinary arts and business, I believe that travel has significantly shaped my personal and professional growth. Through the Combined Worlds Scholarship, I hope to continue exploring the world, gaining new insights, and sharing my experiences with others.
Mental Health Importance Scholarship
Mental health is important because it can affect anyone. Friends, family even loved ones, can succumb to mental illness. Mental health has had a history of torture and pain, in the 18th century if you were suspected to not have a sound mind people often thought you were insane. Sending people off to an Insane asylum was thought to be the best course of action but most people were sadly mistaken.
Life can be a daily struggle for people who have mental health problems, worrying about the people they love, or how much it will cost for treatment. Having mental problems can't be easy for the individual but if loved ones or friends are involved it may worsen someone's condition. Some people may feel embarrassed that they are unwell and don't want anyone to feel sorry for them. The last thing you want is to feel like a burden to the people you care about. Worrying about family is not the only option when seeking help. Money plays a big factor in everyone's life. It puts food on your table and a roof over your head. Treatment of any kind can be expensive for anyone. Hard-working people don't have time to waste money on professional help, worrying about bills can seem more important than one's state of mind. Depending on where you live can affect the outcome of someone's mental health.
If mental health is so important why don't people know how to handle it? I believe there is a lack of information for people who don't have to deal with mental health directly. Making mental health well known in general can help people with the fear of judgment. Mental health to a lot of people is seen as a weakness, especially among men. Over centuries men were set into a stereotype of being strong, resilient, brave, and never weak. Being weak is possibly one of the most terrifying things to a man, feeling useless or unable to provide can make a man feel unwanted or lost. To neutralize this fear in many men, it is important to have a positive look on mental health. People say knowledge is power and it truly is. Not knowing causes fear in many individuals, the power of information can uplift so many people. Fear is just a figment of our imagination so information can comfort the mind.
It can be hard to maintain your mental health, especially for teens and young adults. With the stress of quizzes, tests, and college many students start to feel the strain on their mental health. I know from personal experience how stressful college can be. Some days I didn't feel motivated to get out of bed, when I did nothing all day I felt useless. But it's not like I neglected my work I turned in all my assignments early. I just had to learn that it's okay to have a day of relaxation. I don't have to be doing something every minute of the day. This realization helped my mental health tremendously, giving yourself a break is super important for your physical and mental health. I feel like not enough people give themselves a break and this can lead to depression, anxiety and stress. We live in a world where it's frowned upon to take a break or seek help for our mental health. These closed mindsets only enable people to develop more mental health problems and for some people, it may be too late.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. It may be more important than your physical health.

Sending people off to an Insane asylum was thought to be the best course of action, but sadly most people were mistaken. One practical solution to help people struggling with mental health is to just be accepting of their problems.
Life can be a daily struggle for people who have mental health problems, worrying about being judged for something they can't control on their own. Some people may feel embarrassed that they are unwell and don't want anyone to feel sorry for them. Feeling like an outcast is an awful feeling, so if people were more informed about mental illness there would be less hostility and judgment towards people who struggle with mental health. Having more information about mental health will encourage people to be more empathetic. We can start by adding small lessons about mental health in schools. Starting to teach children at a young age will allow them to understand mental health issues.

The very first anime I watched was actually Fairy tail. This anime showed me how important friends really are. A true friend is willing to help you in your greatest time of need and will be there to support your decisions. Having people in your life that you can trust can really motivate you to accomplish so many different things. In the anime Fairy tail, it taught me that you should always be there for your friends and they will always be there for you. A friend is more than a friend, they are an extension of your family, and treating your friends like family can create a truly magical bond. By learning about how important friendship is I always make sure my friends feel like they truly have someone to turn to whenever they need it. Some of the most valuable lessons we learn can be from entertainment.
3LAU "Everything" Scholarship
My everything is Baking and Pastry. The freedom I have when I bake is my very being. Baking gives me full freedom to show off my creativity to the world. The Baking and Pastry Arts are not just about making delicious food, it's about letting the individual express themselves through their food. It's just like sculpting or paint, but baking is just edible art.
The Baking and Pastry Arts allow me to express myself in more ways than one. During the year 2020, there was a lot of uncertainty. People were scared to go out in public, and I was confined to my home. I wasn't able to see my friends, teachers, or family, and communication during that time was hard. The one thing that helped me was Baking and Pastry. It really helped me find joy in a world that was full of sorrow and despair. Baking allows me to feel relaxed and calm. I enjoy the relaxing aspect of decorating and is really therapeutic in a way.
Ever since I was young I had an interest in food. I always found it fascinating how simple ingredients can turn into mouthwatering dishes. My love for Baking and Pastry only grew because my mom encouraged me to follow my passion. Baking has always been a positive experience for me ever since I was little. I loved baking cookies around Christmas and decorating cupcakes for birthdays. Baking is not limited by anyone's set of rules your creativity sets what you can do. This is one reason I love baking.
My goal is to receive the knowledge and skills on becoming a great Pastry Chef. I have always enjoyed Baking and Pastry so much that I decided I wanted to spend the rest of my life baking. To become a Pastry Chef you not only have to take a chance with different flavors. But you also have to be well organized and efficient. With this in mind, I thought being a Pastry Chef would compliment me perfectly. I enjoy creativity when it comes to pastries. The amount of skill and artistic vision it takes to pipe a cake is amazing. I am not only skilled with a piping bag, but I also can sculpt food as well.
People need an outlet to express themselves, something that they can call their everything. My everything has helped me define who I am and what I want to do for the rest of my life. My purpose is to become a pastry chef, making delicious desserts for everyone. Food has always been a comfort to so many people, it spreads joy to everyone. This is why Baking and Pastry is my everything.
"Wise Words" Scholarship
A quote can have so many meanings. They can teach someone a lesson or remind them of a loved one. My favorite quote is " life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get " (Tom Hanks). Even though this quote might seem foolish, it can represent how unpredictable life is. The best example is the year 2020. No one knew the year 2020 would bring a global pandemic, but we definitely didn't know what we were going to get. I would say that our piece of chocolate was especially bitter to the taste.
This quote is so near and dear to my heart because I learned it while watching the movie Forest Gump with my dad. My dad and I don't always get along, we have very different interests. My dad loves to watch sports, go golfing, and fishing. But for me, I enjoy painting, baking, and taking my time while shopping. We don't always see eye to eye more than a few times, but we love to watch and quote movies.
Some of the movies my dad and I love are " Big Trouble In Little China ", and " Nacho Libre ". Having something in common with my dad is very important to me because we don't have much in common, to begin with. Even though we are different I am happy to say that I share a very special bonding activity with my dad. The quote from the movie Forest Gump is so much more than a silly comparison that the world is unpredictable. It's a great memory that I made with my dad.

3Wishes Women’s Empowerment Scholarship
Everywhere you go women are constantly judged for what they wear and how they look. Girls are perpetually being body shamed by the public eye and it really needs to stop. Women should be uplifting women not tearing them down just because it is “normal”. We need to break the mold that women have been placed in, show the world that we are truly outrageous and we shine brighter than a diamond.
To empower women you need to accept all body types. Giving women the chance to feel accepted about their bodies will bring a wave of female confidence. One of the major problems is through the fashion industry, many models are seen as slender, skinny with flawless skin. If there are more options in ad campaigns for different body types more women will feel like they are being represented in a new light. We can also change the style and cut of many clothing options to cater to different body types. Women want clothes to show the curves they find flattering to themselves, they don't want clothing to hug their body in an unflattering light. Providing women with clothes that they like will provide confidence in their style and body.
Speaking of body confidence people need to understand that bodies come in all different shapes and sizes. Being able to show your love and support to all body types will allow women to improve their self love. To help improve the image of all body types people need to go out of their way to compliment women instead of shouting negative things on the street. You mostly see jerks in cars mooing at larger women to make fun of their body but we need to stop this from happening. We need to teach and educate people that everyone is beautiful in their own way. If society can learn to love and accept all body types, no woman should ever feel like their body is not good enough because in reality you are good enough.
To help girls feel more confident in themselves we need to teach then that having a period is nothing to feel embarrassed about. Having a period was a very tough time because I was so worried that people would laugh at me if they bled through my pad. No girl should ever feel the fear of a period because it can really mess with your mental health if you are not careful. In order to help girls feel more confident we need to teach boys not to stair or laugh if a girl does bleed through her pad. Boys should be taught to calmly approach a girl and tell her what has happened. Being able to rely on people during your period will provide girls a feeling of security.
Another way to help girls is provide free feminine products in all public restrooms. It's hard enough if you start your period out of nowhere but it's even harder if you don't have any feminine products on hand. The last thing you want to worry about is if you have enough change to purchase a feminine product in the bathroom. Feminine products should not only be available in public restrooms but in schools as well. What I have seen so far is that no high school has a feminine product dispenser in their bathrooms for female students. If we can’t make feminine products free in public restrooms the least we could do is get a dispenser for girls in high school. This will show girls that you are not alone and will boost their confidence levels.

Brynn Elliott "Tell Me I’m Pretty" Scholarship
Throughout my life I have met so many empowering women. Women who are not afraid to be themselves even when people may judge them. Women that have made me feel better about my insecurities. Women that have made me feel loved and appreciated. Women who have treated me with kindness and showed nothing but compassion. The women I am talking about are none other than my Mother, Troop leader, and my Grandmother.
My mother is a very hard working lady. She has three kids who are all involved in some extracurricular activity out of school. She has a 84 year old mother who she takes care of and a job as a full time job making prostheses. My mother has worked very hard for her education, she has had countless hours spent in extra classes for her job to become a very valuable asset for her team. She starts up most nights finishing her clinical notes while also juggling family life. My mother is so inspirational to me as a multitasker and even if she seems overwhelmed she always gets her work done at the end. My mother has always been a reliable person for so many people in her life. I want to follow in my mother's footsteps and do the best that I can to help the people around me. Being a reliable person will get you very far in the working world. If people can trust you with a certain task you are more likely to find employment and receive promotions. My dream is to become a pastry chef and trust is very important to have in the kitchen. If your chef trust your skills you fell that its your duty to impress and fulfill your chef's expectations.
Another lady that has inspired me is one of my troop leaders from Girl Scouts. Her name is Mary Denver, she is not only an amazing leader but she also is a very crying veterinarian. Mrs. Mary has dedicated countless hours to my troop, she has helped with our end of the year trips, hosted us at her house to complete badges, and has organized guest speakers to come educate our troop for different events. I am so Inspired how strong Mrs.Mary is. As a vet she has to deal with the death of some animals. At some meetings I can tell that she had a sad day at work but she doesn't let things get her down so easily. She always puts on a smile when she is around the troop to make us feel loved and appreciated. Being able to put a smile on for others is one of the most noble things you can do. I try to put my problems aside so I can help my friend with their problems. I listen and try to give as much helpful advice as I can so people can feel better about their problems. Being able to be strong will be very useful in the kitchen because in highly stressful situations you need to stay calm and keep a leveled head. Keeping a smile on your face can also help boost work morale and help you deal with difficult customers.
The last lady who has influenced me is my grandmother, but I usually call her Nana. My Nana is a very organized lady. In the home everything has a place, it is neat and well kept. My Nana always told me that to be successful you need to be organized. Of course my Nana was right, organization plays a key role in school, jobs, and in kitchens. People who are unorganized have problems completing their work on time, scheduling appointments, and attending meetings. I always wondered why I hate messy things, especially unorganized rooms. I now see that throughout my childhood my Nana has shown me what it really means to be organized. I have always been a very organized person and I finally know why, it's because of my Nana that I am the successful and organized person I am today. If I want to become a pastry chef I will need to be organized and efficient. Being a pastry chef means you need to be neat when creating cakes, breads or even chocolates. If you are unorganized you have the risk of messing up a recipe. Baking and pastry are a science, you need exact measurements to get the recipe right. Organization can also help me in my daily life as an adult.
Charles R. Ullman & Associates Educational Support Scholarship
Being a part of a community gives individuals a chance to connect with so many different people and find support in everyday struggles. Having a group of people you can depend on will make you feel like you are a part of an amazing family. Anyone can give back to their community in their own special way, but whatever you do to help your community make sure it brings people together.
People need to be involved in their communities because you can gain trust, have security, and can make meaningfull connections. If you are involved with your community a lot of people will come to know who you are. People will be willing to put their trust in you because you have shown you can be trusted. Being able to put your trust into someone else can help you creat strong bonds. With theses bonds you can easily find connections for jobs, education and so much more. You can make meaningful connections especially with the people you help in your community. Once you help someone your kindness will be repayed in one way or another. The community you are a part of can make you feel safe, you have people who you can trust with your family members. Childeren are especially safe with in the community because their is a level of trust and security. I love to help my community any way I can, it helps me meet new people everyday.
I try my best to help my community through volunteer work. It is very efficient to be involved in your community if you volunteer at public events. You get to meet and help people around your community. I have done a lot of volunteering for the community, like Christmas parades, making cards for local veterans, cleaning up a community garden, and preparing decorations for a fourth of July celebration. My favorite event in my community is the Christmas parade, I get to help children make gingerbread houses at one of the many stations set up during the parade. One of the most fulfilling voluntr experiences was when I cleaned up the community garden. There were weeds and trash all over this garden. I spent almost two hours just trying to clear it up. After I was done I planted a variety of vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini. I was also allowed to plant some sunflowers in the garden. I love helping my community and hope to continue in the future.
For my future, I want to become a pastry chef. One day I will have my own shop for selling delicious baked goods. To help my community through my profession I could team up with local schools to have fundraiser nights. I got this Idea from my local pizzeria, they do fundraiser nights for the schools in my community. The money can be used to help schools pay for a new heater or a new playground. The possibilities are endless. I would also give out a free desert to students who have good grades on their report card. This will not only encourage students to receive better grades, but it will give families a chance to celibrates their childs accomplishments for a job well done. I want students to enjoy school like I do, but I know some may need the motivation to get goods grades. The reward system is a great way to get people motivated to complete a task they really don't want to do. My shop will be a place where anyone can hang out and be themselves. I will not tolerate foul language in my establishment because it is my personal belief that we need to set a good example for people to follow. Encuraging the community to think before they speak is another way I can help my community through my profession. My shop will be the ideal place for anyone. Teens, families and the elderly will see my shop as an iconic spot in the community. People will want to come to my shop because it will be the Ideal spot in the community to get something tasty to eat.
Being able to help you community can open so many doors for you. You can make new life long friends, find new and exciting events, and you make a difference to so many peoples lives. A community is like a family you will have your ups and downs but when you really need them they will be there for you no questions asked.
"What Moves You" Scholarship
My favorite quote is one that is very popular, it was featured in the movie Forest Gump. Quote by Winston Groom: “Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know...” “Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're going to get.” This quote is very inspirational literally and figuratively. Ever since I saw the movie Forest Gump, this quote has always been in my mind.
Comparing life to a box of chocolate is very ingenious because you newer know what kind of filling is in each piece of chocolate. During the holidays, my mother would get a box of chocolate to put out while the family was over. At this time I still was very young and was a picked eater. When she put the chocolate out I would always try to be careful and not pick the fruity flavored chocolate, so I would take a bite out of each chocolate until I found the one I liked. Now in real life, you can't do this, once you have your piece of chocolate you have to keep it. You can't just give up a job because you don't like it, if it's your first day and you quit it is just the same as me when I took a bite out of some chocolate and put it back on a tray. Sometimes in life, you have to learn how to compromise, or you figure out a better solution to get what you want.
The box of chocolates can symbolize many different things like people, jobs, financial issues and so much more. Take 2020 for instance we never thought in a million years that there would be a global pandemic. But here was are, masked up in public, virtual learning for many students. and financial struggles. Many people would say we got a cheap box of chocolates for our life in 2020, but even cheap chocolate can have a sweet ending. By thinking about the positives in life I have been able to accomplish so much. I have earned straight A's in school. I have almost completed 13 years of Girl Scouts. I was accepted into the Culinary Institute of America. And I earned my Servesafe certification. This quote can represent that life is unexpected and you may get some cheap chocolate in the future, but I believe it's how you use your struggles and misfortunes in your life. You can sit around and watch your life crumble or you can get up and do something about it.
Life can be unpredictable just like a box of chocolates. You might not always know what you are going to get, but it's up to you on how you handle your life. If your life is good or bad you should always treat it as a present surprise just as if you received an assorted box of chocolates. You will always have your ups and downs but in the end, it will always turn up sweater than ever.

This is my year-old lab and bluetick coonhound mix. Her name is Molly Rose. She lovers to be outside, rain or shine. She enjoys playing in the snow and digging holes in my backyard. My hope is to get her into agility because she climbs everything and she has massive hops. Even though she is cute she can also be very sneaky when it comes to stealing stinky socks or shoes. I am so lucky to have her in my life and it wouldn't be the same without her. When you see her she will definitely jump into your heart.

Smartphones have evolved throughout the years and have been gaining a lot of popularity. Many people have become very dependent on their smartphones because they are convenient. A smartphone can become a distraction in our daily lives, they can also become a problem for safety. People rely on smartphones for their everyday tasks. Even though smartphones can be addictive they can also help improve our lives for the better.
My experience with smartphones started later than so many of my friends, I didn’t receive my first smartphone until I was in the seventh grade. In the beginning, I did not enjoy texting my friends, I thought it was slower to text someone than call them and have a conversation. However, I do enjoy smartphones because they help me access the internet easily. I use my phone to listen to music, take pictures with my friend, and watch funny youtube videos. Usually, I prefer the Iphones because that is the brand I grew up with, some people may disagree but it is all about preference. A smartphone can help people connect with friends and family that are far away but there are some impacts that smartphones have on our daily lives.
Having a smartphone can cause many problems for individuals. People who get distracted easily will not be able to get their work done, playing games, posting on social media, and watching videos are all great distractions for the average person. Smartphones can also harm students’ grades. Students who use their phones to search up the answer to their school work will not learn any of the material and probably fail on their next test. Smartphones can also distract students from finishing their classwork or big group projects. Once in a while, I sometimes get distracted on my phone during class and I miss what the teacher is saying. Everyone can get distracted but It is our decision if we want to pay attention. This especially involves when we are on the road, we decide to be engaged and alert.
Having your phone with you is common sense, everyone brings their phone to work, school, or if they are just out in public. What if having your phone all the time could cause people to get hurt? There actually have been accidents because the driver was distracted on their phone, this all could have been avoided if they just put their phone down. Being on your phone while driving is very irresponsible and reckless. Smartphones have been proven to be a major distraction in today’s society, so why don’t people listen? I believe that the impact smartphones have on us is so great because the new generations have become more dependent on technology and don’t know how to function without technology. A lot of kids will stay inside playing on their smartphones rather than playing outside with their friends.
In today's society, people are becoming more and more dependent on technology, especially smartphones. People can lose their jobs because they spend too much time on their phones, they are major distractions in a work environment. Students struggle with their grades if they use their phones too much because they are not paying attention to the material. Smartphones can also become a danger to public safety. People who are on their phones while operating a vehicle are more likely to get in a car accident because they are more engaged with their smartphones. Having a phone is not bad at all, but it is your responsibility on how you use it and where you use it.

A lot of people may not consider this to be an art but it does have art in the name. I want to be a Pastry Chef in the Culinary Arts. My biggest artistic ambition is to be a famous pastry chef that makes beautiful deserts and makes a positive impact on the culinary world altogether. A Pastry Chef can be considered an artist, but their art is edible. The money from this scholarship will help me enhance my skills and knowledge in the Pastry Arts. I want to bring something new to the culinary world that no now has ever seen before.
My dream is set on being a famous Pastry Chef, I want to come up with a new sweet creation that the public will love. Considering today's society many individuals love over-the-top, mind-blowing sweets. These sweets include making the cake look like ordinary objects, massive milkshakes, food covered in gold,
chocolate sculptures and so much more. To make a dessert sensation you have to consider what is the most popular and what can be created without copying a trend. It may be hard because new ideas are always hard to come by even for the most gifted individuals. I know with the right motivation and education I will be able to create a new dessert that will take the world by storm.
If I want to accomplish such a big task I would need to obtain as much knowledge as I can, to understand the process of creating a new sensation. Being able to attend a culinary college will help me a great deal with my skills and overall performance. Every artist starts with natural talent but natural talent will only get you so far. Many artists will enhance their abilities either with practice, extra classes, or studying from a professional. These options also apply to culinary and pastry students, if you want to enhance the skills you possess you usually go to college and learn not only to enhance your skills but you obtain the knowledge of how to teach others. Improving one's self is what every artist strives for, many want to improve their skills but may not have the funding to do so.

A legacy is what a person leaves behind to change the world for the better. It could be about holding the all-time record for most home runs or leaving behind a family business that is continued by generations of family members. No matter what someone leaves behind either big or small a legacy can change the world in more ways than one.
A legacy to me is someone leaving or influencing a group of people to live a better life. A legacy should inspire people to try the impossible or created the unthinkable. Defying the odds is the groundwork for a legacy. Allowing one's self to create and dedicate one life to the betterment of humankind shows what a legacy is all about. Leaving a legacy can be hard because only those who pursue a brighter future are allowed to have their actions tilted with the word legacy.
I believe that a legacy is something someone leaves behind so they will be remembered when their journey through life has ended. A lot of people think of individuals who left behind a legacy of entertainment like Shakespeare or Mickel Jackson. A legacy is not bound to individuals who provided entertainment but is covered by many great leaders and everyday people. Some legacies that will never die are Albert Enstine and his marvelous contributions to science, Marten Luther King Jr and his "I Have A Dream" speech, and Mother Teresa with her selfless actions to help the people around her.
Legacies can come from many backgrounds like science, math, peace, education, leadership, and love just to name a few. People can leave their mark in so many ways, the value comes from what the legacy changes. A legacy that changes the country all together can be considered more valuable because the way of seeing life as we know it has been changed for the better. For example, women have been seen as property for centuries. There are stories in history about the role a woman played and how their only job or privilege was being a mother. No one knew it was wrong because the image of what a woman was has been set in stone or so people thought. Some very bold and brave women decided to crumble the expectations of what a woman was. They protested that women should be able to vote and have a say in how the country is run. This movement was called The Woman's Rights Movement, this allowed women to think for themselves and question their roles in society. By changing how people viewed women in the United States the legacy of women's rights lives on to this very day.
To stop segregation, the people have freedom of speech to help them break the chains of separation. On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr gave his “I HAVE A DREAM” speech to more than 250,000 people. In his speech, he said, “Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice”(Martin Luther King JR). This quote shows how powerful freedom of speech can really be. His voice changed the nation, freedom of speech truly has the power to change lives. Martin Luther King Jr did not raise his fists to get what he wanted from the government instead he used his voice to touch the soul of anyone who would listen. To leave behind a great legacy he first had to acknowledge to the American people that there was an injustice. Mr. King had a dream to improve humankind with words instead of violence leaving behind a legacy for generations.
Leaving a legacy behind is something only people can dream of but if you are truly wanting to change the world for the better then you have a higher chance of leaving a legacy behind. The legacy I want to leave behind; I believe can be challenging to a large number of people. I want to start a business that will bring more people together using food. Being able to connect people with something we all need to survive can provide a great foundation for my legacy. I want to create deserts that will be well known for bringing a smile to someone's face. Providing a place to build a community and contribute to the culinary world is my biggest dream. If I can change the culinary world for the better then I believe I will have my legacy set in stone.
