Bio

Hello my name is Alanna Johnson, formerly known as Quinicsha Johnson. I underwent a legal name change, to have a fresh start. I’m currently enrolled in Arizona State University (online) to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social work. I currently work for a vascular surgeon in the Dallas, Tx area. I am a survivor of sex trafficking and abuse and my goal is to open up a non profit organization to help other women and girls who have been victims and survivors. I plan to find sex trafficking organizations where I can volunteer and also sign up for the big sister program. I am currently writing a book about my experience as well. I have always felt led to give back through my experiences and help people. I would love to work for the FBI as a victim advocate in the future. But, if I could become a social worker/ therapist to other at risk individuals, I would love that. My past doesn’t define me!

I would love to open up a non profit organization to help other victims/survivors of sex trafficking. I would also love to work for the FBI as a victim advocate. I am pursuing an undergrad degree in social work at Arizona State University (online). Now settled, I am applying to become a big sister mentor in the Dallas TX area. I also plan to volunteer at other sex trafficking and abuse non profit organizations. I feel like the best person to help and mentor is the person that has also gone through the same or worse. I would also love to be someone’s support system and show unconditional love. I am very passionate about sharing my story and how I overcome. My late teens and 1/2 of my 20’s were taken away from me. A late start isn’t a bad start. I’ve sacrificed so much to get where I am now. Leaving my trafficker, living in a transitional living organization, expunging my record, obtaining my GED, drivers license, first job, and first apartment. All in my 20’s, undergoing extensive counseling, therapy, and taking antidepressants. The Journey has been challenging, but not impossible. I am also wanting to help the parents of trafficking victims on do’s and don’t and to never abandon their child. To never blame their child. I have also had to testify against my trafficker and I would also love to help other victims in court and let them know, I’m here and not going anywhere. I’ll be 30 this year and I’m very thankful that I’m still here, healthy, and stable. Not everyone makes it out alive and mentally there. I would be very thankful for this scholarship, so I can continue my long educational journey a head of me. I just want to help people become their best self. I want to turn my pain into passion, I want to help put the traffickers and abusers away. I want to help get the victims off the street. Help them obtain an education, clear record, housing, resources, and health care. I am very thankful for my life and owe it to myself to become the advocate the victims deserve and give them the support they need. I want to say thank you for taking out your time on reading my essay and letting me become vulnerable with you. I had to learn to not be ashamed of my past and embrace it.
