Bio

From the beginning of my life, I was lucky enough to have my grandmother and grandfather raise me due to abandonment of bio mom and dad. They have taught me to never give up on my dreams and stay passionate of what I believe in. Attending college has always been important and I will keep rising above any and all obstacles that I may face. Scholarships will help me to accomplish my goals and to make a difference in this world. I have just completed my first semester at Christopher Newport University. I look forward completing my degree in Business at CNU!

No one expects their junior year to be easy but it especially` not easy on me. My largest setback was when I tore my ACL in my sophomore year of high school. I had to overcome physical therapy and stay motivated to get back to the playing field. In June 2021 is when my life changed drastically when I had a complete tear of my ACL. I had reconstruction surgery in late July and a few days later started my rehab process. It was the hardest, saddest time of my life. I could barely get out of bed sometimes just to go to the bathroom which caused me to almost want to give up on sports completely. I had a wonderful athletic trainer, Mrs. Fincham. All of the occasional swelling moved down into my calf which caused cramping and severe pain. My injury made me miss my whole junior year on the basketball court and the first month or so of my lacrosse season. I kept on pushing myself until I could not anymore but I had my biggest support system in my life which is my family. Every small success we would all celebrate together and for every tiny setback, they would support me and remind me that even though you hit a setback, it always leads to a major comeback. Finally, my long rehab came to end after nine months and I was ready to get back to lacrosse. I learned no matter how many setbacks you hit and how much you may want to quit, do not ever give up no matter what life throws at you because at the end of the day the reward is amazing! During my junior year, I also faced another challenge but this time it was not me but someone very close to me. My grandmother was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. This was a very tough time for me because of the role my grandmother has in my life. My grandparents raised me and lived with them all my life. They are my mother and father. They have done so much for me and I’m beyond blessed and grateful to have them as my parents. My grandmother’s cancer diagnosis caused her not to be able to come to my lacrosse games and support me from how sick she was. She would always tell me to stay as strong as I possibly can through thick and thin and I reiterated to her that she can get through it no matter how sick or weak it made her. No matter if it was chemotherapy or surgery she kept on pushing through. Just recently she has become cancer free and is now doing much better but she kept on pushing and finally beat the cancer. All together these were some of the toughest times in my life but whatever life threw at me, I still persevered and so did my family throughout all of the hardships we’ve encountered. I am in my second year at Christopher Newport University in Virginia studying Business. I will graduate in 2027 but I am in need of financial help to achieve my goal. I will not stop working hard because I know that it will happen.

    Learner Calculus Scholarship
While studying calculus, students learn how to break down problems into smaller, manageable parts and apply analytical thinking to arrive at solutions. This skill is invaluable in many areas of life, not just in mathematics, as it helps students become better problem solvers overall. Calculus equips you with the tools to analyze the variables involved, understand how they interact, and make informed decisions based on that analysis. Many college majors require knowledge of calculus as a prerequisite. Whether you plan to pursue a degree in engineering, physics, computer science, economics, or any other field that involves quantitative analysis, a solid foundation in calculus is essential. In medicine, calculus plays a crucial role in modeling the spread of diseases, analyzing drug interactions, and determining optimal dosage levels. In technology, calculus is used in computer graphics, image processing, and data analysis. Learning calculus is super important for students because it has lots of awesome benefits. It helps you think really well, understand math better, get ready for more school stuff, and even use math in the real world. Calculus gives you special skills to solve tricky problems, opens doors to cool school and job opportunities, makes the world around you make more sense, and lets you be creative and think of new ideas. It’s not just about school – it’s about getting ready for an exciting future full of cool chances to learn and become a better you! I am a Business major and Business calculus is used to calculate costs and rates of change to maximize profit while minimizing expenses. For example, calculus can help accountants understand the rate of change in financial data, such as calculating the derivative of a function to determine the growth or decline of a company's revenue over time. Calculus is used to understand and manage risk in finance. For example, derivatives, particularly options, allow investors to block adverse movements in asset prices Calculus is useful in in statistics - which is increasingly critical in many areas of business, including: market research, operations and control systems, finance, and supply chain management. Financial analysts may use calculus to estimate the value of financial securities. Market research analysts may use calculus to study market conditions to examine potential sales of a product or service. Logisticians may use calculus to analyze and coordinate an organization's supply chain. Insurance underwriters often use calculus to decide whether to provide insurance and under what terms. I would say that calculus is used in just about every avenue you choose to work.

All together these were some of the toughest times in my life but whatever life threw at me, I still persevered and so did my family throughout all of the hardships we’ve encountered . I am determined to complete my educational goals and become a winner in this life.

From the beginning of my life, I was lucky enough to have my grandmother and grandfather raise me due to the abandonment of bio mom and dad. They have taught me to never give up on my dreams and stay passionate about what I believe in. My grandmother is a breast cancer survivor but was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. Through her surgeries and ongoing chemotherapy, she has taught me so much about courage, determination, and no matter how bad situations get, you have to keep pushing! I am forever grateful for the sacrifices my grandparents have made. Their unconditional love has made me the determined young man that I am and will continue to be. I continue to support my family in many ways. I help with household chores, grocery shopping, picking up medications, and outside chores as well. I can never repay them for every life lesson that I was taught by them. During my high school years, I was a defender on the Varsity LaCrosse Team. Unfortunately, I tore my ACL and had surgery to repair my knee. Physical therapy afterward was very tough but I was determined to get through the worst because I wanted to play again! I kept pushing and training and I did play again. I will be playing again this year. Attending college has always been important and I will keep rising above any obstacles that I may face. I had great teachers in high school. They helped me along my journey in school. Each teacher taught me the importance of higher education. Many of them taught with respect and dignity. THEY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE. I am so grateful for planting a positive seed that will continue to lead me throughout my life. Getting a college degree will help me to accomplish my goals and to make a difference in this world. Meeting new people with different stories and diverse backgrounds will be a new experience for me but I am excited! I am so lucky to have lived and learned life lessons from my grandparents ( known as Big Dad and Mamaw). My circumstances could have been so different, but I accepted them, listened to them, and learned the true meaning of love and truthfulness. We all have a story and we must find the courage to share it with others that might have the same or similar circumstances. Through this process, we must help our neighbors and communities to overcome and embrace one another! I will end with this...Adversity is important for everyone. We just need to evaluate the situation, make a plan, and use the tools we have learned to overcome it! Making the right choices will guide us in the right direction. But, if we do make a poor choice, we have to own it and make an effort to correct it. I am currently in my freshman year at Christopher Newport University and truly in need of any financial scholarships which will help with my future Business degree. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.

I am truly in need of any financial aid that can help with my future college plans. No one expects their junior year to be easy but it is especially not easy for me. My largest setback was when I tore my ACL in my sophomore year of high school. I had to overcome physical therapy and stay motivated to get back on the playing field. I learned no matter how many setbacks you hit and how much you may want to quit, do not ever give up no matter what life throws at you because, at the end of the day, the reward is amazing! Just recently she has become cancer free and is now doing much better but she kept on pushing and finally beat cancer. All together these were some of the toughest times in my life but whatever life threw at me, I still persevered and so did my family throughout all of the hardships we encountered.

We just need to evaluate the situation, make a plan, and use the tools we have learned to overcome it! Making the right choices will guide us in the right direction. But, if we do make a poor choice, we have to own it and make an effort to correct it. I am truly in need of any financial aid that can help with my future college plans. Your consideration is greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your financial consideration.
