I'm Aidan, a student studying computer science at Rochester Institute of Technology. I am very passionate about computers and computer science, and plan to have an exciting career in the industry. I plan on doing research and eventually going to grad school for my masters. I also would like the opportunity to one day work on artificial intelligence. Other than the professional aspects of my life, I would consider myself a very friendly and caring person who enjoys hanging out with friends, different languages and cultures, and basketball.

My favorite project that I have completed to this date is when I built my own computer. From an early age, I have been fascinated with technology, but more specifically, how the components of a computer work together to make something so fascinating. For this reason, building a computer was something that I had always dreamed about growing up. As I continued to grow, I researched about building computers and decided that one day I eventually would.
A couple of years ago I started to work and so I began to collect the necessary computer components that I needed to build a computer. The first component that I bought was my processor, followed by my graphics card. About a year later, I was able to buy my RAM, SSD, and motherboard. After I got these components, it wasn't until many months later that I was able to acquire a case, CPU cooler, fans, power supply, and whatever other miscellaneous items I needed. All in all, it took almost two years before I had everything that I needed in order to build the computer.
The day eventually came to build the computer, and I can say without a doubt that I was nervous. I prepared everything, placed my motherboard and case onto the kitchen table, and with great precautions, I went at it. The very first thing I did was add my processor to the motherboard. This part made me the most nervous, as I didn't want to accidentally damage any of the delicate components on the back of the processor. Once I successfully got the processor into the motherboard socket, I was able to take a big sigh of relief. I followed this by snapping the RAM sticks into their designated spots and adding the SSD onto the motherboard. I then lifted the motherboard into the pc case and screwed it securely into place. The construction of my CPU cooler came next, which I then added to the top of the case. I followed this by adding all the additional fans everywhere else. I then added the power supply and did a whole lot of wiring and cable management. This part was honestly one of the most challenging parts of the build since there were so many wires and I started to get confused. I did however overcome this challenging phase, and finally put in my graphics card to finish. I closed my case, plugged it in, and with much apprehensiveness pressed the power button. It took a few moments to do anything, and I started to get worried, but then the computer started running and my monitor turned on. This is when I realized that I had finally completed my goal of building a functional computer.
Overall, I loved the process of building a computer, and it helped me realize that working in the tech industry is something that I am truly passionate about. It made me feel secure in my choice of majoring in computer science in college. It also inspired me to think even further about computing technology, since I now realize that if I was able to complete this huge goal of mine, then I have the ability to complete more goals in the future; bigger goals as well. I am now even inspired to one day research and work on artificial intelligence and the technological power and advances that it imposes. I truly do believe that technology and computing are the future and that it holds endless possibilities for me as my career in technology expands.
