I, Adeife Oluwatosin Ajayi, an international transfer student of Western Kentucky University am interested in being a nursing major student. I have always wanted to be in the medical field. To make a difference in the world of medical science and technology. Nurses are not really known for being researchers. I hope to change that. I like to help people, make sure everything's okay and be someone's reason to smile. My aunt is a pediatrician. I love how she relates with kids and makes them feel safe. She has been my role model. Everyone tells me how difficult being a pre-med student is. I know it's going to be tough, but I hope to overcome it by studying, focusing on my academics and graduating. I can only do this if I don't keep worrying about how to pay my tuition fees.
I would really appreciate it if I were considered for scholarship aid or any additional funding that might go towards my education. Getting this scholarship and funding would help me to achieve my goals of becoming a nurse and work to support my community. Your scholarship would let me continue down this path, without incurring any debts from loans I cannot afford. I hope to give back to the society in the future and become someone my family can be proud of. Thank you for your consideration.

Since I decided to pursue nursing as a career, I have had no second thoughts about it, nor have I looked back. If anything, I am more determined than ever, and I see more and more reasons every day why I should continue with this education choice. The reason I decided to be a nurse dates back to when I was younger. My dad got into a life-threatening accident. As a result, my family and I were at the hospital a lot. We spent a lot of money and time at the hospital, just to make sure he was okay. He was on the verge of getting amputated, or worse, dying from an infection. However, the doctors and nurses fought hard to save his life. As a kid, I remember thinking that this was what I wanted to do. To help people and give them hope.
Now, whenever I tell someone I'm in the nursing program, they look shocked and tell me how hard it is. It probably is, but I know I can do it. I am determined to achieve my dream of becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. My focus has not and will never be shifted, because I have my eye on the future that lies ahead of me. I know that by becoming a nurse, I can change the lives of so many people and make an impact in my society.
If I could go back in time, I would tell my younger self not to give up, and not to settle for less. I attended a college back in my home country. I was unable to get the course I wanted. Therefore, I had to pick a different major, botany. Botany is a lucrative course, and I planned to use my degree to venture into agriculture or something similar. However, I felt like it would be impossible for me to switch to nursing, or that it was too late. Therefore, I stayed unfulfilled in classes I did not want to be in. I tried to compromise, feeling like maybe the health field was not for me anyway. Besides, everyone said it was a difficult thing to get into, so I should just settle for the bird I had in hand, rather than looking for two in the bush. At one point, I started to realize that I shouldn't give up on my dreams. So, I pursued it. It wasn't easy, because I didn't get into the nursing program directly. I got into Clinical Laboratory Science, but this time, I pushed and made sure I got the major I wanted.
What makes nurses special is how they are able to motivate you to keep on going, even when life gets tough. I feel that that is not something you can find in a lot of fields. I also feel happy seeing the smiles on the patients' faces from the documentaries I watch. It shows that they are positive about life and have developed a bond or trust in the people that were caring for them. One day, I will get to connect with people on a wholly personal level and give them a better chance at life. My goals are to build a healthcare organization in the later future to help people all around the world. I would achieve this by gaining experience as a certified nurse. Throughout my career, I aspire to be a woman who empowers people and connects with them on a whole new level to give them a better chance at life.

It was a confusing time for me, because I knew what I wanted to do, and learning about plants was not it. However, I felt like it would be impossible for me to switch to nursing, or that it was too late. Therefore, I stayed unfulfilled in classes I did not want to be in. Being able to motivate people to keep on going, both physically and emotionally is not something you can find in a lot of fields. Some people do not care about their jobs, customers, or patients. As a nurse, I would like to participate in clinical research. My goals are to get my nursing certifications and as much experience as possible to enable me to become the best in my field. I intend to achieve this by studying hard and volunteering in any way I can. I love working with kids because they are a source of joy. Treating the sick and the injured, because everyone has the right to live healthy, happy lives. As a child, I was in the hospital a lot. This is because my dad had gotten into a car accident that almost left his leg amputated. So, we had to spend a lot of time taking care of him. However, the care he received at the hospital was just comforting. The medical staff were highly efficient. Especially the kind nurses. I watched them in awe because they always knew what to do and how to do it! I knew without delay what I wanted to become when I grew up. In fact, my favorite quote now is, “To do what nobody else will do, a way that nobody else can do, in spite of all we go through; that is to be a nurse.” This motto was implemented by Rawsi Williams, a healthcare professional.
The US educational system is undoubtedly one of the best. It can, however, be extremely expensive, especially the medical programs. Between school, academics, work, social activities and everyday life, it can be a little jarring for the average student. I would like to be considered for scholarship assistance to reduce the financial strain on me. I signed up for a payment plan to lengthen my payment deadline. That way, I can save up some money for college. Even with that, I still do not have enough to meet up with my needs. My current tuition fees are about $20,000, and that is just for this semester alone! Most of the jobs on campus pay about $8 an hour. I am limited to 20 hours of work as an international student. That brings about $640 a month. Certainly not enough to cover even half of my tuition. So, I am in a bit of a dilemma right now. I would really appreciate it if I were considered for scholarship aid or any additional funding that might go toward my education. Getting this scholarship would help me to achieve my goals of becoming a nurse and working to support my community. Your scholarship would let me continue down this path, without incurring any debts from loans I cannot afford.
