Xavier M. Monroe Heart of Gold Memorial Scholarship
Completing a college degree often requires students to overcome a variety of obstacles.
From the exorbitant costs of tuition and living expenses, the stress of balancing academics with extracurricular activities, and managing personal responsibilities while focusing on school, it can be difficult to stay on track. Underrepresented minority students face even more challenges due to discrimination, lack of community, and systemic barriers.
This scholarship aims to honor the life of Xavier M. Monroe by supporting underrepresented students on their path to higher education.
Any African American high school or undergraduate student may apply for this scholarship, but first-generation applicants are preferred.
To apply, tell us about an obstacle you faced, how it affected you, and what you learned from the experience.
The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
