Writer for Life Scholarship
Being able to communicate thoughts and ideas with words is a great skill, and one that writers cultivate throughout their lives.
Writers help bridge the gap between thought and reality, giving voice to their own vision or giving voice to others by sharing their stories. The Writer can report on the world or create a world with their imagination. The Writer For Life Scholarship will support a student who is passionate about pursuing a career in writing.
High school seniors and undergraduate students are eligible to apply if they are majoring in writing, journalism, or related writing fields. Students in Kansas will be preferred.
To apply, write about the goals you’ve set for yourself as a writer, and share a book you think everyone should read in their lifetime.
What goals have you set for yourself as a writer? What is one book or short story you recommend everyone read and why?

We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
Award checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner's academic institution or future academic institution in their name to be applied to their tuition, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school's requirements). If the award is for a qualified educational non-tuition expense, we will work with the winner directly to distribute the award and make sure it goes towards qualified expenses.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to confirm their academic enrollment status. Depending on the circumstances, verification of Student ID and/or their most recent transcript will be required.
