Auto repair is an essential skill set that not only fosters technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities but also promotes self-reliance.

Tim Williams was a skilled mechanic that could fix anything. He was one of the fortunate, where his passion was also his career. A mechanic, but not only a mechanic; he was a teacher. Patient, knowledgeable, and always eager to share his expertise. He believed in making others better, passing on his skills and wisdom. This scholarship honors Tim's memory by supporting future generations of auto repair workers, helping them realize their dreams just as he did.

Propelling the automotive industry requires helping lower-income students overcome their financial constraints so they’re able to reach their full potential in the field. Many students who are ready to learn, willing to assist others, and have a clear vision for their future are hindered only by their financial background.

The scholarship seeks to support students who are eager to enter the auto repair industry and require financial aid for further education.

Any high school, undergraduate, graduate, or trade school student who is pursuing a career in auto repair may apply for this scholarship.

To apply, tell us why you’re applying for this scholarship, why you want to be an auto mechanic, and how you hope to make a difference.

Hanna Riggs
WyoTechCrittenden, KY
My name is Hanna Riggs I am currently in automotive with high performance at WyoTech.Ever since I was little, I used to always go to car shows and help my dad out in the garage, but I never wanted to do more than that. Until about 3 years ago I wanted to become a teacher but my dad said to at least try one automotive class so I did and I didn't realize how much I actually loved what I was doing but recently I have felt down I've taken 4 ASE tests and I only did well on one so far and that really messed me up because I now know that this is something that I want more than anything and it not because of the fact that I grew up with its because when I work on cars it becomes a part of me and I just can't stop smiling. I have been bullied in this world more times than I can count and because of that not many people want to provide me with a scholarship. I can't say that I feel deserving of this scholarship because that's a strong word, but I work so hard, and I've been pushing to prove to everyone that I'm not just a girl that I can work hard to become a great technician and get my real ASE and eventually build and manage my own shop. It's an amazing experience listening to people's stories and reading about them and it makes me really understand the true meaning of a real technician. What I want in life is to work in a dealership or shop for at least 10 years and then have my own woman shop to prove to the kids in high school that I'm not just some girl that I'm a certified badass and that nothing can get in my way. Eventually, I want everyone to know everyone's story and I want to help share my own story but with that I need people to believe in me and tell me that I'm not just some girl I want them to tell me that they want their children to look up to me or I want them to look up to me and see my struggle and really stop and realize that nothing is in their way and if I can do it anyone can find the way or find the will to do it with no problem. Thank you for your time and for reading my long rant
