“Running is moving meditation – pushing your limits physically raises your mental baseline." - Meg Takacs
Mental illness is no small problem. Every year, tens of millions of people in the U.S. struggle with anxiety and depression. And sadly, suicide is the 10th leading cause of the death in the U.S.
Mental illness takes a toll on both the mind and the body. People with depression have a 40% higher risk of developing cardiovascular and metabolic diseases than the general population.
To work on this problem, we need a thoughtful and coordinated approach. We need psychiatrists, therapists, trainers, families, individuals, and society working together.
The Run With Meg Scholarship for Female Entrepreneurs exists to support the mental health and well-being of women who are building small businesses. The scholarship is dedicated to Brenna, who Meg lost in 2017. Even after she passed away, she was able to help others, which was her favorite thing to do.
The scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate school students in any field of study. The only requirement is that you are a woman who aspires to build a business or who is currently building a business.
To apply for the scholarship, you will need to write a short essay about how your experiences with mental health have influenced your entrepreneurial goals and ambitions.
How have your experiences with mental health influenced your entrepreneurial goals?
