Mirajur Rahman Perseverance Scholarship
I was born in Bangladesh and lived in poverty until my parents were lucky enough to bring our family to America in 2010. After our move, I soon realized I had to work twice as hard to obtain the opportunities that came so easily to my American peers.
The education I’ve received paired with the work ethic I’ve adopted have thankfully opened doors I’ve never thought possible. With the help of these opportunities, I am hopeful to one day return to Bangladesh to build a hospital and provide medical care to those in need in my community.
This past year has been hard on all students and their families. Jobs have been lost, lives have been taken, and people’s plans for their future have been significantly altered or completely halted as a result of the pandemic.
I am a strong believer that if one has something to offer, it should be shared with the world. With that being said, I would like to do my part to try to help my peers be successful in their academic endeavors.
My scholarship, the Mirajur Rahman Perseverance Scholarship, will be awarded to one high school junior or senior who plans to attend college and has persevered through life’s hardship toward a brighter future for themselves and the world.
While not required, it’s a plus if you:
- Demonstrate financial need
- Demonstrate academic excellence
- Are not originally born in the US or are a first-generation student
- Have non-profit/volunteering experience
