Ida Nickelson 104 Memorial Scholarship
Ida Nickelson was an amazing woman who lived to be 104 years old. She was affectionately known as (Mama-sista). She was very loving and kind to everyone she encountered. She was a pillar of strength in her community, well respected, and known for her charitable deeds.
She showed love by the way she lived her life. Her life impacted many, both young and old. She was a philanthropist, a nurturer, and a caretaker to many who were in need. Ida loved to dance, tell jokes, eat ice cream, and watch Judge Judy. She was an incredible woman who lived a full life.
The Ida Nickelson 104 Memorial Scholarship exists to honor her life by helping a female student with financial need. Families growing up in the inner city may have limited income, which makes this mission especially important. Through this scholarship, women studying in New York City get an opportunity to fund their education.
Any low-income, female, high school or undergraduate student studying in New York City may apply for this scholarship. To apply, write about your career goals and how this scholarship will help you overcome any financial difficulties.

The winner will be publicly announced on Sep 30, 2022. Prior to the announcement date, we may contact finalists with additional questions about their application. We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
Award checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner's academic institution or future academic institution in their name to be applied to their tuition, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school's requirements). If the award is for a qualified educational non-tuition expense, we will work with the winner directly to distribute the award and make sure it goes towards qualified expenses.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to confirm their academic enrollment status. Depending on the circumstances, verification of Student ID and/or their most recent transcript will be required.
