Heather Brown Sports Information Scholarship
Heather R. Brown was a beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend who passed away in October 2023 after a 16-month battle with breast cancer.
Heather dedicated a large part of her life to college sports. She started her career while still in college while working as a student intern in the athletic department at Bowling Green State University. She later graduated with a Sports Journalism degree in 2003.
After graduation, Heather took an internship with the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), where she ended up staying for the next 20 years. Heather's title at the OVC was Director of Communication, but was also known unofficially as the Director of Fun where she was in charge of keeping everyone in good spirits. Heather became a beloved part of the OVC staff and was the longest tenured employee of the conference at the time of her passing.
The OVC honored her posthumously in 2023 by inducting her into the OVC Hall of Fame. Heather was looked as a hall of famer in all aspects of her life by everyone who knew her.
This scholarship has been established to continue Heather's legacy of giving and to help support students financially who share her passion for all things sports.
