At the center of the Christian practice is reciprocity through charity, humility, and sacrifice. When you find ways to support your community, you contribute to the virtuous cycle of giving that can be rewarding for many.

Often for Christian students, giving back to their community involves implementing their faith into their education and solving the complex problems of the world to leave their community in a better place.

As one of the most progressive fields today, computer science gives students the chance to piece together the most complicated issues of the world and their local communities. Through experience in computer science and technology, the opportunities are limitless to who you can reach, how you can help, and what you can provide.

To encourage Christian students in computer science to continue their studies toward a brighter future for themselves and their community, the Faith and Tech Scholarship exists and will be awarded to one current high school or undergraduate student in computer science.

To apply, please submit a side-project you have completed or are currently working on. Also, please write about what technology and faith mean to you.

My faith means everything to me and is in fact the sole reason that I have decided on a career in computer technology. A few years ago, I had no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Many careers seemed equally interesting and no one stood out to me any more than the others. I knew I needed to make a decision soon so that I could start taking the necessary classes to prepare. I prayed much during this time and tried to keep my options and mindset open. At the end of the school year, a chance discussion with a teacher led me to have absolute certainty about what exactly I wanted to do. She knew I liked math, coding, and logic puzzles, so she suggested computer science as a career path. I had never really thought about it before, but from the moment she mentioned it, I knew that I was meant to major in computer science. That inner confirmation was all I needed to begin researching the career and classes in earnest. I've taken every coding class my school offers and I'm taking other classes that will give me greater opportunities in college. Technology has become meaningful to me throughout my experiences and impressions. My faith was what led me to computer science in the first place and I have no doubt that I will be able to accomplish great things because of that. I am so grateful to have that certainty.
