Durham-Dodd Dreams Scholarship
Education can be extremely expensive, especially for children from single parent households.
In the United States, one in every five children under the age of eighteen live with a single mom. Nearly 40% of single moms living in the US have low wage jobs, while a total of 22 million children in the United States live in a single parent household.
Not only is it much more difficult for a single parent to raise a child on their own, but the average costs associated with raising a child, without the additional income from another parent, leave little room to fund a future college education.
The Durham-Dodd Dreams Scholarship was created in order to support a student’s passion for learning, and to help them receive the higher education they deserve, despite the immense cost.
This scholarship is meant for a BIPOC student who was raised in a single parent household and is planning to attend a two or four year degree program.
Any high school senior or undergraduate student who is both part of an underrepresented minority group and was raised by a single parent may apply for this scholarship.
