Mrs. Dora C. White graduated from the Candler County Training School in 1950. She went on to attend Fort Valley State University where she graduated class of 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. 

Mrs. White has always been a champion for education, teaching in Candler County and sowing into the youth of her community for many years. HBCUs are the leading producers of African American PhDs, federal judges, veterinarians, engineers, doctors, and military officers. 

As engineering alumnae of Tuskegee University and Metter High School, Janice and Jada Thomas know the benefits of attending an HBCU firsthand and want to assist those following in their footsteps.

This scholarship aims to honor the legacy of Mrs. Dora C White, an HBCU alumna, by supporting students who will attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Any BIPOC high school senior with a 3.0 min. GPA in Candler, Bulloch, or Evans County, Georgia, that is pursuing higher education at an HBCU, and is a well-rounded student, may apply for this scholarship opportunity.
