Donald De La Haye "No Regrets" Scholarship
“I have discovered in life that there are ways of getting almost anywhere you want to go, if you really want to go.” - Langston Hughes
The beautiful reality of our world is that life can get better. Hard work, perseverance, and a relentless focus on your goals will get you further than you expect.
But regardless of how hard you work, everyone faces obstacles and can use a helping hand.
As a kicker on a full-ride scholarship at the University of Central Florida, I was given a choice, "Continue creating videos on my Youtube channel and lose my scholarship, or stop creating videos and keep my scholarship."
I decided that I would take control of my own destiny and keep making videos. That resulted in a difficult transition in which I lost my scholarship, but thanks to the support from the people around me, I navigated that transition and am on a new path to achieving my dreams. And the best part is that I'm doing it on my own terms with no regrets.
I've learned that as you pursue your dreams, it’s often the subtle forms of support from others that make all the difference – a mentor who believes in you, a grandparent who drives you to practice, or a stranger who helps you see the world through an empowering lens.
As one small step toward paying it forward and supporting other ambitious athletes, The Donald De La Haye "No Regrets Scholarship" exists to support an athlete who could use a helping hand on his or her pathway to success.
The scholarship will be awarded to one high school senior who intends to pursue a career in sports to make themselves and the world a better place.
To apply for the scholarship, please submit a link to a 1 minute video of you describing who you are, why you deserve this scholarship, and some action clips of you playing your sport.
