Dale Dance Scholarship
As originated by Alice Mills Dale, the Dale Dance Studio celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
Over the last 75 years, Julie Dale, together with her sister Sharon Wiltz, had the great pleasure of teaching a huge portion of the community of Sterling and Dixon, Illinois to dance.
Learning ballet, tap, jazz, and the performing arts at a young age has the ability to expand young people’s confidence and joy, inspiring from within. It also builds mental and emotional resilience, physical strength and dexterity, and a beautiful sense of community, both among the dancers themselves and for the families and friends who come to see their recitals and performances.
From annual holiday shows to musicals to dance recitals, the Dale sisters engaged, enriched, and entertained our community - and now, we’d like to give back in a new way, with the Dale Dance Scholarship! We will host a small local open house to invite our rural Illinois community to give, and here, we invite anyone who is inspired by dance and the performing arts to give!
All students who intend to pursue dance and/or the performing arts in college are eligible. To apply, please write about how dance and/or the performing arts have touched your life and how you hope to touch the lives of others through your craft.
For many dancers and performing artists, their craft is a pursuit of the heart or soul. As such, please share: how has dance or how have performing arts touched your life? How will you touch the lives of others through dance or the performing arts?
