Charles Reid Imperial Scholarship
Hands-on trade skills are crucial to the growth and development of our communities, yet these careers are often overlooked in favor of traditional four-year college degrees.
Many students are eager to gain practical skills, succeed in their chosen trades, and create bright futures without the need for a four-year institution, but a lack of encouragement can hamper their passion. While attending a university can be the right path for many students, the world needs trained trades professionals to create progress in their communities.
This scholarship seeks to support students who are planning to dedicate their careers to the skilled trades in order to make a difference.
Any high school senior in Middletown, Haddam, Killingworth, Chester, Deep River, Essex, Old Saybrook, Old Lyme, East Lyme, Niantic, Westbrook, Clinton, or Madison, Connecticut, may apply for this scholarship if they will attend trade school and pursue careers in the skilled trades, such as building, plumbing, electrical work, and other essential fields.
To apply, tell us why you’ve decided to pursue a trade, how you plan to make a difference with your skills, and what challenges you expect to face and overcome.
Trade careers, such as building, plumbing, and electrical work, are essential to the development and success of our communities. Describe why you have chosen to pursue a trade rather than a four-year college degree, and how you plan to use your skills to make a positive impact in your community. What challenges do you expect to face in your trade, and how will you overcome them to achieve your goals?
