Charles E. Nettles Continued Education Scholarship
"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." – Malcolm X
Charles E. Nettles was a historian and educator for over 30 years. After attending Alabama A&M University, he continued his education at what was then San Fernando Valley State College (now California State University, Northridge). He shaped many great minds in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, and we hope to continue his legacy through this scholarship.
Upon graduating college, many students are unprepared for the limited funding available for graduate programs and the financial burdens that come with pursuing advanced degrees. With the rising costs of tuition and the growing student debt crisis, countless prospective graduate students are left discouraged.
This scholarship aims to change that and make higher education a little more accessible for HBCU graduates.
We want to inspire applicants to reach their highest potential and shine even brighter than they did in undergrad.
Any undergraduate senior or recent graduate of an HBCU is eligible to apply.
Pursuing further education expands one’s knowledge and career opportunities. To apply, tell us why you plan to continue your education and what you plan to study.
Please tell us why you plan on continuing your education post-graduation and what you plan on studying. This can be a masters program, certificate program, or any sort of continued education post-grad.
