Aktipis Entrepreneurship Fellowship
Stelios Aktipis was a scientist, real estate developer, and public servant born in Athens, Greece.
Stelios moved to the United States in his 20s to continue his education and research at Brown, Brandeis, and Harvard Medical School before beginning his life as a professor at Loyola University of Chicago at the Stritch School of Medicine in 1966.
He was committed to both service to his community and to education, serving as an elected board member of the Salt Creek School District from 1987 to 1991, as Trustee for the Village of Oak Brook from 2004 to 2011, and two terms as Chairman of the Village of Oak Brook Planning Commission. Stelios also applied his shrewd mind and entrepreneurial spirit to real estate development throughout his life.
This scholarship aims to provide financial support to students who exemplify Stelios Aktipis' values and drive as they pursue higher education.
